4:1Sons of Judah: Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

4:2And Reaiah son of Shobal begat Jahath, and Jahath begat Ahumai and Lahad; these are families of the Zorathite.

4:3And these are of the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister is Hazzelelponi,

4:4and Penuel is father of Gedor, and Ezer father of Hushah. These are sons of Hur, first-born of Ephratah, father of Beth-Lehem.

4:5And to Ashhur father of Tekoa were two wives, Helah and Naarah;

4:6and Naarah beareth to him Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari: these are sons of Naarah.

4:7And sons of Helah: Zereth, and Zohar, and Ethnan.

4:8And Coz begat Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel son of Harum.

4:9And Jabez is honoured above his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, `Because I have brought forth with grief.'

4:10And Jabez calleth to the God of Israel, saying, `If blessing Thou dost bless me, then Thou hast made great my border, and Thy hand hath been with me, and Thou hast kept me from evil -- not to grieve me;' and God bringeth in that which he asked.

4:11And Chelub brother of Shuah begat Mehir; he is father of Eshton.

4:12And Eshton begat Beth-Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah father of Ir-Nahash; these are men of Rechah.

4:13And sons of Kenaz: Othniel, and Seraiah; and sons of Othniel: Hathath.

4:14And Meonothai begat Ophrah, and Seraiah begat Joab father of the valley of artificers, for they were artificers.

4:15And sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and sons of Elah, even Kenaz.

4:16And sons of Jehaleleel: Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel.

4:17And sons of Ezra are Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon: and she beareth Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah father of Eshtemoa.

4:18And his wife Jehudijah bare Jered father of Gedor, and Heber father of Socho, and Jekuthiel father of Zanoah. And these are sons of Bithiah daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took,

4:19and sons of the wife of Hodiah sister of Nahom: Abi-Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite.

4:20And sons of Shimon are Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben-Hanon, and Tilon; and sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben-Zoheth.

4:21Sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er father of Lecah, and Laadah father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of the service of fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;

4:22and Jokim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who ruled over Moab and Jashubi-Lehem; and these things are ancient.

4:23They are the potters and inhabitants of Netaim and Gedera; with the king in his work they dwelt there.

4:24Sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;

4:25Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.

4:26And sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zacchur his son, Shimei his son.

4:27And to Shimei are sixteen sons and six daughters, and to his brethren there are not many sons, and none of their families have multiplied as much as the sons of Judah.

4:28And they dwell in Beer-Sheba, and Moladah, and Hazar-Shaul,

4:29and in Bilhah, and in Ezem, and in Tolad,

4:30and in Bethuel, and in Hormah, and in Ziklag,

4:31and in Beth-Marcaboth, and in Hazar-Susim, and in Beth-Birei, and in Shaarim; these are their cities till the reigning of David.

4:32And their villages are Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities,

4:33and all their villages that are round about these cities unto Baal; these are their dwellings, and they have their genealogy:

4:34even Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah son of Amaziah,

4:35and Joel, and Jehu son of Josibiah, son of Seraiah, son of Asiel,

4:36and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,

4:37and Ziza son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah.

4:38These who are coming in by name are princes in their families, and the house of their fathers have broken forth into a multitude;

4:39and they go to the entrance of Gedor, unto the east of the valley, to seek pasture for their flock,

4:40and they find pasture, fat and good, and the land broad of sides, and quiet, and safe, for of Ham are those dwelling there before.

4:41And these who are written by name come in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smite their tents, and the habitations that have been found there, and devote them to destruction unto this day, and dwell in their stead, because pasture for their flock is there.

4:42And of them, of the sons of Simeon, there have gone to mount Seir, five hundred men, and Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, sons of Ishi, at their head,

4:43and they smite the remnant of those escaped of Amalek, and dwell there unto this day.

5:1As to sons of Reuben, first-born of Israel -- for he is the first-born, and on account of his profaning the couch of his father hath his birthright been given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel, and he is not to be reckoned by genealogy for the birthright,

5:2for Judah hath been mighty over his brother, and for leader above him, and the birthright is to Joseph.

5:3Sons of Reuben, first-born of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

5:4Sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

5:5Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,

5:6Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-Pilneser king of Asshur removed; he is prince of the Reubenite.

5:7And his brethren, by their families, in the genealogy of their generations, are heads: Jeiel, and Zechariah,

5:8and Bela son of Azaz, son of Shema, son of Joel -- he is dwelling in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baal-Meon;

5:9and at the east he dwelt even unto the entering in of the wilderness, even from the river Phrat, for their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.

5:10And in the days of Saul they have made war with the Hagarites, who fall by their hand, and they dwell in their tents over all the face of the east of Gilead.

5:11And the sons of Gad, over-against them have dwelt in the land of Bashan unto Salcah,

5:12Joel the head, and Shapham the second, and Jaanai and Shaphat in Bashan;

5:13and their brethren of the house of their fathers are Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.

5:14These are sons of Abihail son of Huri, son of Jaroah, son of Gilead, son of Michael, son of Jeshishai, son of Jahdo, son of Buz;

5:15Ahi son of Abdiel, son of Guni, is head of the house of their fathers;

5:16and they dwell in Gilead in Bashan, and in her small towns, and in all suburbs of Sharon, upon their outskirts;

5:17all of them reckoned themselves by genealogy in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

5:18Sons of Reuben, and the Gadite, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, of sons of valour, men bearing shield and sword, and treading bow, and taught in battle, are forty and four thousand and seven hundred and sixty, going out to the host.

5:19And they make war with the Hagarites, and Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab,

5:20and they are helped against them, and the Hagarites are given into their hand, and all who are with them, for they cried to God in battle, and He was entreated of them, because they trusted in Him.

5:21And they take captive their cattle, of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of human beings a hundred thousand;

5:22for many have fallen pierced, for of God is the battle; and they dwell in their stead till the removal.

5:23And the sons of the half of the tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land, from Bashan unto Baal-Hermon, and Senir, and mount Hermon, they have multiplied.

5:24And these are heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, men mighty in valour, men of name, heads to the house of their fathers.

5:25And they trespass against the God of their fathers, and go a-whoring after the gods of the peoples of the land whom God destroyed from their presence;

5:26and stir up doth the God of Israel the spirit of Pul king of Asshur, and the spirit of Tilgath-Pilneser king of Asshur, and he removeth them -- even the Reubenite, and the Gadite, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh -- and bringeth them in to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and the river of Gozan unto this day.

6:1Sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

6:2And the sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.

6:3And sons of Amram: Aaron, and Moses, and Miriam. And sons of Aaron: Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

6:4Eleazar begat Phinehas, Phinehas begat Abishua,

6:5and Abishua begat Bukki, and Bukki begat Uzzi,

6:6and Uzzi begat Zerahiah, and Zerahiah begat Meraioth,

6:7Meraioth begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub,

6:8and Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Ahimaaz,

6:9and Ahimaaz begat Azariah, and Azariah begat Johanan,

6:10and Johanan begat Azariah, him who acted as priest in the house that Solomon built in Jerusalem.

6:11And Azariah begetteth Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub,

6:12and Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Shallum,

6:13and Shallum begat Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begat Azariah,

6:14and Azariah begat Seraiah, and Seraiah begat Jehozadak;

6:15and Jehozadak hath gone in Jehovah's removing Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

6:16Sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.

6:17And these are names of sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.

6:18And sons of Kohath: Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.

6:19Sons of Merari; Mahli and Mushi. And these are families of the Levite according to their fathers;

6:20of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,

6:21Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, Jeaterai his son.

6:22Sons of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,

6:23Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, and Assir his son,

6:24Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son.

6:25And sons of Elkanah; Amasai and Ahimoth.

6:26Elkanah; sons of Elkanah: Zophai his son, and Nahath his son,

6:27Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elkanah his son.

6:28And sons of Samuel: the first-born Vashni, and the second Abijah.

6:29Sons of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,

6:30Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, Asaiah his son.

6:31And these are they whom David stationed over the parts of the song of the house of Jehovah, from the resting of the ark,

6:32and they are ministering before the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, in song, till the building by Solomon of the house of Jehovah in Jerusalem; and they stand according to their ordinance over their service.

6:33And these are those standing, and their sons: of the sons of the Kohathite: Heman the singer, son of Joel, son of Shemuel,

6:34son of Elkanah, son of Jeroham, son of Eliel, son of Toah,

6:35son of Zuph, son of Elkanah, son of Mahath, son of Amasai,

6:36son of Elkanah, son of Joel, son of Azariah, son of Zephaniah,

6:37son of Tahath, son of Assir, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah,

6:38son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, son of Israel.

6:39And his brother Asaph, who is standing on his right -- Asaph, son of Berachiah, son of Shimea,

6:40son of Michael, son of Baaseiah, son of Malchiah,

6:42son of Ethan, son of Zimmah, son of Shimei,

6:44And sons of Merari, their brethren, are on the left. Ethan son of Kishi, son of Abdi, son of Malluch,

6:45son of Hashabiah, son of Amaziah, son of Hilkiah,

6:46son of Amzi, son of Bani, son of Shamer,

6:47son of Mahli, son of Mushi, son of Merari, son of Levi.

6:48And their brethren the Levites are put to all the service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

6:49And Aaron and his sons are making perfume on the altar of the burnt-offering, and on the altar of the perfume, for all the work of the holy of holies, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses servant of God commanded.

6:50And these are sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,

6:51Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,

6:52Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,

6:53Zadok his son, Ahimaaz his son.

6:54And these are their dwellings, throughout their towers, in their borders, of the sons of Aaron, of the family of the Kohathite, for theirs was the lot;

6:55and they give to them Hebron in the land of Judah and its suburbs round about it;

6:56and the field of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh.

6:57And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge: Hebron, and Libnah and its suburbs, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa and its suburbs,

6:58and Hilen and its suburbs, Debir and its suburbs,

6:59and Ashan and its suburbs, and Beth-Shemesh and its suburbs.

6:60And from the tribe of Benjamin, Geba and its suburbs, and Allemeth and its suburbs, and Anathoth and its suburbs. All their cities are thirteen cities, for their families.

6:61And to the sons of Kohath, those left of the family of the tribe, from the half of the tribe, the half of Manasseh, by lot, are ten cities.

6:62And to the sons of Gershom, for their families, from the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

6:63To the sons of Merari, for their families, from the tribe of Reuben, and from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, by lot, twelve cities.

6:64And the sons of Israel give to the Levites the cities and their suburbs.

6:65And they give by lot from the tribe of the sons of Judah, and from the tribe of the sons of Simeon, and from the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, these cities which they call by name;

6:66and some of the families of the sons of Kohath have cities of their border from the tribe of Ephraim;

6:67and they give to them the cities of refuge, Shechem and its suburbs in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Gezer and its suburbs,

6:68and Jokmeam and its suburbs, and Beth-Horan and its suburbs,

6:69and Aijalon and its suburbs, and Gath-Rimmon and its suburbs;

6:70and from the half tribe of Manasseh, Aner and its suburbs, and Bileam and its suburbs, for the family of the sons of Kohath who are left.

6:71To the sons of Gershom from the family of the half of the tribe of Manasseh are Golan in Bashan and its suburbs, and Ashtaroth and its suburbs;

6:72and from the tribe of Issachar; Kedesh and its suburbs, Daberath and its suburbs,

6:73and Ramoth and its suburbs, and Anem and its suburbs;

6:74and from the tribe of Asher; Mashal and its suburbs, and Abdon and its suburbs,

6:75and Hukok and its suburbs, and Rehob and its suburbs;

6:76and from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee and its suburbs, and Hammon and its suburbs, and Kirjathaim and its suburbs.

6:77To the sons of Merari who are left, from the tribe of Zebulun, are Rimmon and its suburbs, Tabor and its suburbs;

6:78and from beyond the Jordan by Jericho, at the east of the Jordan, from the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wilderness and its suburbs, and Jahzah and its suburbs,

6:79and Kedemoth and its suburbs, and Mephaath and its suburbs;

6:80and from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead and its suburbs, and Mahanaim and its suburbs,

6:81and Heshbon and its suburbs, and Jazer and its suburbs.
