- And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that Jehovah is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against Jehovah: now have ye delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of Jehovah. - and ye have seen all that Jehovah your God hath done to all these nations because of you. For Jehovah your God is he that hath fought for you. Josh. 23:3
- And Jehovah was with Judah; and he took possession of the hill-country, for he did not dispossess the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. Judg. 1:19
- And when Jehovah raised them up judges, then Jehovah was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repented Jehovah because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and crushed them. Judg. 2:18
- And the anger of Jehovah was hot against Israel; and he said, Because this nation hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and hath not hearkened unto my voice, Judg. 2:20
- And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of Jehovah; and Jehovah strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they did evil in the sight of Jehovah. Judg. 3:12
- Because of the voice of those who divide the spoil in the midst of the places of drawing water; There they rehearse the righteous acts of Jehovah, His righteous acts toward his villages in Israel. Then the people of Jehovah went down to the gates. Judg. 5:11
- And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of the Midianites the children of Israel made for themselves the dens that are in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds. Judg. 6:2
- And Israel was greatly impoverished because of Midian. And the children of Israel cried to Jehovah. Judg. 6:6
- And it came to pass when the children of Israel cried to Jehovah because of Midian, Judg. 6:7
- And Gideon perceived that he was an angel of Jehovah; and Gideon said, Alas, Lord Jehovah! for because I have seen an angel of Jehovah face to face ... Judg. 6:22
- And Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as Jehovah had said to him. And it came to pass, because he feared his father's house, and the men of the city, if he did it by day, that he did it by night. Judg. 6:27
- And the men of the city said to Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die, because he has broken down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the Asherah that was by it. Judg. 6:30
- And Joash said to all that stood near him, Will *ye* contend for Baal? or will *ye* save him? he that contends for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning. If he be a god, let him plead for himself, because they have broken down his altar. Judg. 6:31
- And on that day they called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead with him, because he has broken down his altar. Judg. 6:32
- And he said to Jether his firstborn, Arise, slay them! But the youth drew not his sword; for he feared, because he was yet a youth. Judg. 8:20

- And the children of Israel cried to Jehovah, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served the Baals. Judg. 10:10
- And the king of the children of Ammon said to the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from the Arnon even unto the Jabbok and unto the Jordan; and now restore it peaceably. Judg. 11:13
- And Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye, Gilead, ye are fugitives of Ephraim in the midst of Ephraim, and in the midst of Manasseh. Judg. 12:4
- And Manoah said to his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God. Judg. 13:22
- And the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they answered, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burned her and her father with fire. Judg. 15:6
- Then said Micah, Now I know that Jehovah will do me good, because I have the Levite for priest. Judg. 17:13
- And the citizens of Gibeah rose against me, and surrounded the house because of me, by night; they thought to slay me, and my concubine have they humbled so that she died. Judg. 20:5
- And the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten. -- And the men of Israel gave place to Benjamin, because they trusted to the ambush that they had set against Gibeah. Judg. 20:36
- And the people repented them for Benjamin, because Jehovah had made a breach in the tribes of Israel. Judg. 21:15
- And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come to complain to us, that we will say to them, Gratify us with them, because we did not take each man his wife in the war; for ye did not give them to them, that ye should now be guilty. Judg. 21:22
- And her adversary provoked her much also, to make her fret, because Jehovah had shut up her womb. 1 Sam. 1:6
- And it came to pass when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of Jehovah. 1 Sam. 1:20
- For I have declared to him that I will judge his house for ever, for the iniquity which he hath known: because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 1 Sam. 3:13
- And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel; because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband. 1 Sam. 4:21
- And he smote among the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of Jehovah, and smote of the people seventy men; and the people lamented, because Jehovah had smitten the people with a great slaughter. 1 Sam. 6:19
- And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king whom ye have chosen; and Jehovah will not answer you in that day. 1 Sam. 8:18
- As soon as ye come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people eat not until he has come, because he blesses the sacrifice; afterwards they eat that are invited. And now go up; for this very day shall ye find him. 1 Sam. 9:13
- To-morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him prince over my people Israel; and he will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me. 1 Sam. 9:16
- Then Samuel took the vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because Jehovah has anointed thee prince over his inheritance? 1 Sam. 10:1
- And they cried to Jehovah and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken Jehovah, and have served the Baals and the Ashtoreths; and now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee. 1 Sam. 12:10
- For Jehovah will not cast away his people for his great name's sake; because it has pleased Jehovah to make you his people. 1 Sam. 12:22
- And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou didst not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines were assembled at Michmash, 1 Sam. 13:11
- And Jonathan said, My father has troubled the land: see, I pray you, that mine eyes are bright, because I tasted a little of this honey. 1 Sam. 14:29
- And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites, because the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice to Jehovah thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed. 1 Sam. 15:15
- For rebellion is as the sin of divination, And selfwill is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, He hath also rejected thee from being king. 1 Sam. 15:23
- But Jehovah said to Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him; for it is not as man seeth; for man looketh upon the outward appearance, but Jehovah looketh upon the heart. 1 Sam. 16:7
- And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him: thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. 1 Sam. 17:32
- Thy servant smote both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 1 Sam. 17:36
- And Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 1 Sam. 18:3
- And Saul was afraid of David, because Jehovah was with him, and had departed from Saul. 1 Sam. 18:12
- And Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David, because he has not sinned against thee; for also what he did was very advantageous to thee; 1 Sam. 19:4
- And Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and ate no meat the second day of the new moon; for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame. 1 Sam. 20:34
- And David answered the priest and said to him, Yes indeed, women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, and the more so, because to-day new is hallowed in the vessels. 1 Sam. 21:5
- And the king said to the couriers that stood about him, Turn and put the priests of Jehovah to death; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not inform me. But the servants of the king were not willing to put forth their hand to fall on the priests of Jehovah. 1 Sam. 22:17
- And it came to pass afterwards that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt. 1 Sam. 24:5
- I pray thee, forgive the transgression of thy handmaid: for Jehovah will certainly make my lord a lasting house; because my lord fights the battles of Jehovah, and evil has not been found in thee all thy days. 1 Sam. 25:28
- This thing is not good which thou hast done. As Jehovah liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not guarded your master, Jehovah's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his head. 1 Sam. 26:16
- And Saul said, I have sinned: return, my son David; for I will no more do thee harm, because my life was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have acted foolishly, and have erred exceedingly. 1 Sam. 26:21
- Because thou didst not hearken to the voice of Jehovah, and didst not execute his fierce anger upon Amalek, therefore has Jehovah done this thing to thee this day. 1 Sam. 28:18
- And Saul fell straightway his full length on the earth, and was sore afraid because of the words of Samuel; and there was no strength in him, for he had eaten no bread all the day nor all the night. 1 Sam. 28:20
- And David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him; for the soul of all the people was embittered, every man because of his sons and because of his daughters; but David strengthened himself in Jehovah his God. 1 Sam. 30:6
- And David said to him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant of an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days ago I fell sick. 1 Sam. 30:13
- And he brought him down, and behold, they were spread over the whole land, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah. 1 Sam. 30:16
- And all the wicked men, and men of Belial, of those that had gone with David, answered and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them aught of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away and depart. 1 Sam. 30:22
- And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of Jehovah, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword. 2 Sam. 1:12
- And now Jehovah shew kindness and faithfulness to you; and I also will requite you this good, because ye have done this thing. 2 Sam. 2:6
- And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him. 2 Sam. 3:11
- So Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle. 2 Sam. 3:30
- And David perceived that Jehovah had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom because of his people Israel. 2 Sam. 5:12
- And David was indignant, because Jehovah had made a breach upon Uzzah; and he called that place Perez-Uzzah to this day. 2 Sam. 6:8
- And it was told king David, saying, Jehovah has blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that is his, because of the ark of God. And David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom into the city of David with joy. 2 Sam. 6:12
- and Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him; for Hadadezer was continually at war with Toi. And he brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze. 2 Sam. 8:10
- and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. 2 Sam. 12:6
- Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thy house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Urijah the Hittite to be thy wife. 2 Sam. 12:10
- Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of Jehovah to blaspheme, even the child that is born to thee shall certainly die. 2 Sam. 12:14
- And Absalom spoke to Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had humbled his sister Tamar. 2 Sam. 13:22
- And now that I am come to speak of this thing to my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid; and thy bondmaid said, I will now speak to the king; perhaps the king will perform the request of his handmaid. 2 Sam. 14:15
- And when he shaved his head (for it was at every year's end that he shaved it, because it was heavy on him, therefore he shaved it), he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels after the king's weight. 2 Sam. 14:26
- And Joab said to him, Thou shalt not be a bearer of news to-day, but thou shalt carry the news another day; but to-day thou shalt carry no news, because the king's son is dead. 2 Sam. 18:20

- And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to me; and why then are ye angry for this matter? have we eaten anything which came from the king, or has he given us any present? 2 Sam. 19:42
- And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of Jehovah. And Jehovah said, It is for Saul, and for his house of blood, because he slew the Gibeonites. 2 Sam. 21:1
- But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of Jehovah's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul. 2 Sam. 21:7
- Then the earth shook, and quaked; The foundations of the heavens trembled And shook because he was wroth. 2 Sam. 22:8
- And he brought me forth into a large place; He delivered me, because he delighted in me. 2 Sam. 22:20
- But the sons of Belial are all of them as thorns thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with hands; 2 Sam. 23:6
- And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose and went and caught hold of the horns of the altar. 1 Ki. 1:50
- But shew kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table; for so they came up to me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother. 1 Ki. 2:7
- And the king said to Abiathar the priest, Go to Anathoth, to thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death; but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou didst bear the ark of Adonai Jehovah before David my father, and because thou hast been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted. 1 Ki. 2:26
- And Jehovah shall requite the blood which he shed upon his own head, because he fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, without my father David's knowledge: Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah. 1 Ki. 2:32
- And God said to him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life, neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thyself discernment to understand judgment; 1 Ki. 3:11
- And this woman's child died in the night; because she had lain upon it. 1 Ki. 3:19
- Thou knowest that David my father could not build a house unto the name of Jehovah his God, because of the wars which were about him on every side, until Jehovah put them under the soles of his feet. 1 Ki. 5:3
- and the priests could not stand to do their service because of the cloud; for the glory of Jehovah had filled the house of Jehovah. 1 Ki. 8:11
- When thy people Israel are put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in this house; 1 Ki. 8:33
- When the heavens are shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, because thou hast afflicted them; 1 Ki. 8:35
- The same day the king hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the oblations, and the fat of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altar that was before Jehovah was too small to receive the burnt-offerings, and the oblations, and the fat of the peace-offerings. 1 Ki. 8:64
- And they shall say, Because they forsook Jehovah their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have attached themselves to other gods, and have worshipped them and served them; therefore has Jehovah brought upon them all this evil. 1 Ki. 9:9
- Blessed be Jehovah thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel! Because Jehovah loves Israel for ever, therefore did he make thee king, to do judgment and justice. 1 Ki. 10:9
- And Jehovah was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from Jehovah the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, 1 Ki. 11:9
- because they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my sight, and my statutes and mine ordinances, as David his father. 1 Ki. 11:33
- And all Israel shall mourn for him, and they shall bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found something good toward Jehovah the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam. 1 Ki. 14:13
- And Jehovah will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their Asherahs, provoking Jehovah to anger. 1 Ki. 14:15
- And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, wherewith he has sinned, and made Israel to sin. 1 Ki. 14:16
- because David did that which was right in the sight of Jehovah, and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Urijah the Hittite. 1 Ki. 15:5
- And also Maachah his mother he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol for the Asherah; and Asa cut down her idol, and burned it in the valley of Kidron. 1 Ki. 15:13
- because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and wherewith he made Israel to sin; by his provocation with which he provoked Jehovah the God of Israel to anger. 1 Ki. 15:30
- And also through the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani the word of Jehovah came against Baasha, and against his house, even for all the evil that he did in the sight of Jehovah, provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam; and because he had smitten him. 1 Ki. 16:7
- And the man of God drew near, and spoke to the king of Israel and said, Thus saith Jehovah: Because the Syrians have said, Jehovah is a god of the mountains, but he is not a god of the valleys, I will give all this great multitude into thy hand, and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. 1 Ki. 20:28
- Then said he to him, Because thou hast not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah, behold, when thou departest from me, the lion will slay thee. And when he had departed from him, the lion found him and slew him. 1 Ki. 20:36
- And he said to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Because thou hast let go out of thy hand the man that I had devoted to destruction, thy life shall be for his life, and thy people for his people. 1 Ki. 20:42
- And Ahab came into his house sullen and vexed because of the word that Naboth the Jizreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and ate no bread. 1 Ki. 21:4
- And he said to her, Because I spoke to Naboth the Jizreelite and said to him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee a vineyard for it; and he said, I will not give thee my vineyard. 1 Ki. 21:6
- And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, mine enemy? And he said, I have found thee; because thou hast sold thyself to do evil in the sight of Jehovah. 1 Ki. 21:20
- Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house. 1 Ki. 21:29
- And the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them, Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? 2 Ki. 1:3
- And they said unto him, A man came up to meet us, and said to us, Go, return to the king that sent you and say to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die. 2 Ki. 1:6
- And he said to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die. 2 Ki. 1:16
- And the heart of the king of Syria was troubled because of this thing; and he called his servants, and said to them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel? 2 Ki. 6:11
- And Hazael said, Why does my lord weep? And he said, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do to the children of Israel: their strongholds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou kill with the sword, and wilt dash in pieces their children, and rip up their women with child. 2 Ki. 8:12
- And Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram. (Now Joram kept Ramoth-Gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria; 2 Ki. 9:14
- And Jehovah said to Jehu, Because thou hast executed well that which is right in my sight, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel. 2 Ki. 10:30
- (And Jehoahaz besought Jehovah, and Jehovah hearkened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them. 2 Ki. 13:4
- And Jehovah was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and had respect to them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and he would not destroy them, neither did he cast them from his presence up to that time. 2 Ki. 13:23
- Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and its territory from Tirzah, because they did not open to him; and he smote it: all the women in it that were with child he ripped up. 2 Ki. 15:16
- And so it was, because the children of Israel had sinned against Jehovah their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods; 2 Ki. 17:7
- And they spoke to the king of Assyria saying, The nations that thou hast removed and made to dwell in the cities of Samaria know not the manner of the god of the land; therefore he has sent lions among them, and behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the god of the land. 2 Ki. 17:26
- because they hearkened not to the voice of Jehovah their God, but transgressed his covenant, all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded; and they would not hear nor do it. 2 Ki. 18:12
- Because thy raging against me and thine arrogance is come up into mine ears, I will put my ring in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, And I will make thee go back by the way by which thou camest. 2 Ki. 19:28
- Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols; 2 Ki. 21:11
- because they have done evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt even to this day. 2 Ki. 21:15
- But no reckoning was made with them of the money that was given into their hand, because they dealt faithfully. 2 Ki. 22:7
- Go, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book which is found; for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened to the words of this book, to do according to all that is written there for us. 2 Ki. 22:13
- Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my fury is kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched. 2 Ki. 22:17
- Because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Jehovah, when thou heardest what I spoke against this place and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and didst rend thy garments and weep before me, I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah. 2 Ki. 22:19
- But Jehovah turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him. 2 Ki. 23:26
- and also because of the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Jehovah would not pardon. 2 Ki. 24:4
- For, because the anger of Jehovah was against Jerusalem and against Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. 2 Ki. 24:20
- And Jabez was more honoured than his brethren; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bore him with pain. 1 Chr. 4:9

- for they stayed round about the house of God during the night, because the charge was upon them, and the opening thereof every morning pertained to them. 1 Chr. 9:27
- And Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he committed against Jehovah, because of the word of Jehovah which he kept not, and also for having inquired of the spirit of Python, asking counsel of it; 1 Chr. 10:13
- Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he kept still close because of Saul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men who helped him in the conflict; 1 Chr. 12:1
- And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he had put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God. 1 Chr. 13:10
- And David perceived that Jehovah had established him king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly exalted, because of his people Israel. 1 Chr. 14:2
- For because ye did it not at the first, Jehovah our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order. 1 Chr. 15:13
- and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to Jehovah, because his loving-kindness endureth for ever; 1 Chr. 16:41
- and he sent Hadoram his son to king David to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer and smitten him; for Hadarezer was continually at war with Tou; he sent also all manner of vessels of gold and silver and bronze. 1 Chr. 18:10
- And David said, I will shew kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him. 1 Chr. 19:2
- But David could not go before it to inquire of God; for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of Jehovah. 1 Chr. 21:30
- And the people rejoiced because they offered willingly, for with perfect heart they offered willingly to Jehovah; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. 1 Chr. 29:9
- And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of them that hate thee, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked for thyself wisdom and knowledge, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: 2 Chr. 1:11
- And Huram king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because Jehovah loved his people, he made thee king over them. 2 Chr. 2:11
- and the priests could not stand to do their service because of the cloud; for the glory of Jehovah had filled the house of God. 2 Chr. 5:14
- And if thy people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication before thee in this house; 2 Chr. 6:24
- When the heavens are shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, because thou hast afflicted them; 2 Chr. 6:26
- And the priests could not enter into the house of Jehovah, because the glory of Jehovah filled Jehovah's house. 2 Chr. 7:2
- And Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt-offerings and the oblations and the fat. 2 Chr. 7:7
- And they shall say, Because they forsook Jehovah the God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and have attached themselves to other gods, and have worshipped them and served them; therefore he has brought upon them all this evil. 2 Chr. 7:22
- And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David to the house which he had built for her; for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy to which the ark of Jehovah has come. 2 Chr. 8:11
- Blessed be Jehovah thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on his throne, to be king to Jehovah thy God! Because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore did he make thee king over them, to do judgment and justice. 2 Chr. 9:8
- And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, because they had transgressed against Jehovah, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, 2 Chr. 12:2
- And Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah that had gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, Thus saith Jehovah: Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak. 2 Chr. 12:5
- And the children of Israel were humbled at that time, and the children of Judah were strengthened, because they relied upon Jehovah the God of their fathers. 2 Chr. 13:18
- And he built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because Jehovah had given him rest. 2 Chr. 14:6
- And also Maachah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol for the Asherah; and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burned it in the valley Kidron. 2 Chr. 15:16
- And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and hast not relied on Jehovah thy God, therefore has the army of the king of Syria escaped out of thy hand. 2 Chr. 16:7
- And Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in the prison; for he was enraged with him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time. 2 Chr. 16:10
- And Eliezer the son of Dodavah, of Mareshah, prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, Jehovah has broken thy works. And the ships were broken, and could not go to Tarshish. 2 Chr. 20:37
- But Jehovah would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he had promised to give to him always a lamp, and to his sons. 2 Chr. 21:7
- But the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time from under his hand, because he had forsaken Jehovah the God of his fathers. 2 Chr. 21:10
- And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father: Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah, 2 Chr. 21:12
- And he returned to be healed in Jizreel because of the wounds that were given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Azariah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab at Jizreel; for he was sick. 2 Chr. 22:6
- And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God and toward his house. 2 Chr. 24:16
- Truly with a small company of men came the army of the Syrians, but Jehovah delivered a very great army into their hand, because they had forsaken Jehovah the God of their fathers; and they executed judgment upon Joash. 2 Chr. 24:24
- And it came to pass as he talked with him, that Amaziah said to him, Hast thou been made the king's counsellor? Forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbore, and said, I know that God has determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my counsel. 2 Chr. 25:16
- But Amaziah would not hear; for it was of God, that he might deliver them into the enemy's hand, because they had sought after the gods of Edom. 2 Chr. 25:20
- And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked upon him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; even he himself hasted to go out, because Jehovah had smitten him. 2 Chr. 26:20
- And Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all valiant men, because they had forsaken Jehovah the God of their fathers. 2 Chr. 28:6
- But a prophet of Jehovah was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because Jehovah the God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he gave them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage that reaches up to heaven. 2 Chr. 28:9
- and said to them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither; because, for our guilt before Jehovah, ye think to increase our sins and our trespasses: for our trespass is great, and fierce wrath is upon Israel. 2 Chr. 28:13
- For Jehovah humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had made Judah lawless, and transgressed much against Jehovah. 2 Chr. 28:19
- And the priests slaughtered them, and they made purification for sin with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel; because for all Israel, said the king, is the burnt-offering and the sin-offering. 2 Chr. 29:24
- For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not hallowed themselves in sufficient number, neither had the people been gathered together to Jerusalem. 2 Chr. 30:3
- So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout Israel from Beer-sheba even to Dan, that they should come to hold the passover to Jehovah the God of Israel, at Jerusalem; because they had not held it for a long time as it was written. 2 Chr. 30:5
- And because of this, king Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz prayed and cried to heaven. 2 Chr. 32:20
- Go, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book which is found; for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of Jehovah, to do according to all that is written in this book. 2 Chr. 34:21
- Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my fury shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched. 2 Chr. 34:25
- Because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy garments and weep before me, I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah. 2 Chr. 34:27
- And afterwards they made ready for themselves and for the priests; because the priests, the sons of Aaron, were engaged in offering up the burnt-offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests, the sons of Aaron. 2 Chr. 35:14
- And Jehovah the God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending; because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling-place. 2 Chr. 36:15
- And they set the altar on its base; for fear was upon them because of the people of the countries; and they offered up burnt-offerings on it to Jehovah, the morning and evening burnt-offerings. Ezra 3:3
- And they sang alternately together in praising and giving thanks to Jehovah: For he is good, for his loving-kindness endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout to the praise of Jehovah, because the foundation of the house of Jehovah was laid. Ezra 3:11
- Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shethar-boznai, and their companions, because of that which king Darius had sent, did so diligently. Ezra 6:13
- Because thou art sent by the king, and by his seven counsellors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand; Ezra 7:14
- Then were assembled to me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the unfaithfulness of those that had been carried away; and I sat overwhelmed until the evening oblation. Ezra 9:4
- Jehovah, God of Israel, thou art righteous; for we are a remnant that is escaped, as it is this day. Behold, we are before thee in our trespasses; for there is no standing before thee because of this. Ezra 9:15
- And Ezra arose from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib; and when he came thither, he ate no bread and drank no water; for he mourned because of the unfaithfulness of them that had been carried away. Ezra 10:6
- Then were all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered together at Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month; and all the people sat in the open space of the house of God, trembling because of the matter, and because of the pouring rain. Ezra 10:9
- Then we prayed to our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them. Neh. 4:9
- But the former governors that were before me had been chargeable to the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, besides forty shekels of silver: even their servants bore rule over the people. But I did not so, because of the fear of God. Neh. 5:15
- And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: and they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure; and we are in great distress. Neh. 9:37
- And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, our Levites, and our priests are at the sealing. Neh. 9:38
- because they had not met the children of Israel with bread and with water, and had hired Balaam against them, to curse them; but our God turned the curse into blessing. Neh. 13:2
- What shall be done to the queen Vashti according to law, because she has not performed the word of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains? Esther 1:15
- And king Ahasuerus said to queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he stretched forth his hand against the Jews. Esther 8:7
- Because it shut not up the doors of the womb that bore me, and hid not trouble from mine eyes. Job 3:10
- And thou shalt have confidence, because there shall be hope; and having searched about thee, thou shalt take rest in safety. Job 11:18
- Because he knew no rest in his craving, he shall save nought of what he most desired. Job 20:20
- Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he hidden the gloom from me. Job 23:17

- And these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes. Job 32:1
- Then was kindled the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the family of Ram: against Job was his anger kindled, because he justified himself rather than God; Job 32:2
- and against his three friends was his anger kindled, because they found no answer, and yet condemned Job. Job 32:3
- But Elihu had waited till Job had finished speaking, because they were older than he. Job 32:4
- Because they have turned back from him, and would consider none of his ways; Job 34:27
- Would that Job may be tried unto the end, because of his answers after the manner of evil men! Job 34:36
- There they cry, and he answereth not, because of the pride of evil men. Job 35:12
- But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, doth not Job know his great arrogancy? Job 35:15
- Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions, because they have increased. Job 36:9
- Because there is wrath, beware lest it take thee away through chastisement: then a great ransom could not avail thee. Job 36:18
- Wilt thou put confidence in him, because his strength is great? and wilt thou leave thy labour to him? Job 39:11
- Then will I also praise thee, because thy right hand saveth thee. Job 40:14
- Lead me, Jehovah, in thy righteousness, because of my foes; make thy way plain before me. Ps. 5:8
- Mine eye wasteth away through grief; it hath grown old because of all mine oppressors. Ps. 6:7
- Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established praise because of thine adversaries, to still the enemy and the avenger. Ps. 8:2
- Because of the oppression of the afflicted, because of the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith Jehovah, I will set him in safety, at whom they puff. Ps. 12:5
- Ye have shamed the counsel of the afflicted, because Jehovah was his refuge. Ps. 14:6
- I have set Jehovah continually before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Ps. 16:8
- Then the earth shook and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains trembled and shook, because he was wroth. Ps. 18:7
- And he brought me forth into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. Ps. 18:19
- Commit it to Jehovah -- let him rescue him; let him deliver him, because he delighteth in him! Ps. 22:8
- Teach me thy way, Jehovah, and lead me in an even path, because of mine enemies. Ps. 27:11
- For in him shall our heart rejoice, because we have confided in his holy name. Ps. 33:21
- Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, and be not envious of them that work unrighteousness; Ps. 37:1
- Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him that prospereth in his way, because of the man that bringeth mischievous devices to pass. Ps. 37:7
- There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation; no peace in my bones, because of my sin. Ps. 38:3
- My wounds stink, they are corrupt, because of my foolishness. Ps. 38:5
- And they that render evil for good are adversaries unto me; because I pursue what is good. Ps. 38:20
- Let them be desolate, because of their shame, that say unto me, Aha! Aha! Ps. 40:15
- By this I know that thou delightest in me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. Ps. 41:11
- I will say unto *God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Ps. 42:9
- For thou art the God of my strength: why hast thou cast me off? why go I about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Ps. 43:2
- For not by their own sword did they take possession of the land, neither did their own arm save them; but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst delight in them. Ps. 44:3
- Because of the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and the avenger. Ps. 44:16
- And in thy splendour ride prosperously, because of truth and meekness and righteousness: and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things. Ps. 45:4
- Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments. Ps. 48:11
- I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it; and I will wait on thy name, before thy godly ones, for it is good. Ps. 52:9
- I will freely sacrifice unto thee; I will praise thy name, O Jehovah, because it is good. Ps. 54:6
- Because of the voice of the enemy; because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in anger they persecute me. Ps. 55:3
- *God will hear, and afflict them: he that is seated of old, (Selah) ... because there is no change in them, and they fear not God. Ps. 55:19
- They gather themselves together, they hide themselves; they mark my steps, because they wait for my soul. Ps. 56:6
- Because of the sin of their mouth, the word of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride; and because of cursing and lying which they speak. Ps. 59:12
- Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth, (Selah,) Ps. 60:4
- Moab is my wash-pot; upon Edom will I cast my sandal; Philistia, shout aloud because of me. Ps. 60:8
- Say unto God, How terrible are thy works! because of the greatness of thy strength, thine enemies come cringing unto thee. Ps. 66:3
- Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee. Ps. 68:29
- Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; confusion hath covered my face. Ps. 69:7
- Draw nigh unto my soul, be its redeemer; ransom me because of mine enemies. Ps. 69:18
- Let them turn back because of their shame that say, Aha! Aha! Ps. 70:3
- Because they believed not in God, and confided not in his salvation; Ps. 78:22
- Help us, O God of our salvation, because of the glory of thy name; and deliver us, and forgive our sins, for thy name's sake. Ps. 79:9
- Because *thou* hast made Jehovah, my refuge, the Most High, thy dwelling-place, Ps. 91:9
- Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Ps. 91:14
- Zion heard, and rejoiced; and the daughters of Judah were glad, because of thy judgments, O Jehovah. Ps. 97:8
- Because of thine indignation and thy wrath; for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down. Ps. 102:10
- Because they had rebelled against the words of *God, and had despised the counsel of the Most High; ... Ps. 107:11
- Fools, because of their way of transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted; Ps. 107:17
- They mount up to the heavens, they go down to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble; Ps. 107:26
- And they rejoice because they are quiet; and he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Ps. 107:30
- Because he remembered not to shew kindness, but persecuted the afflicted and needy man, and the broken in heart, to slay him. Ps. 109:16
- But do *thou* for me, Jehovah, Lord, for thy name's sake; because thy loving-kindness is good, deliver me: Ps. 109:21
- And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; because I have hoped in thy judgments. Ps. 119:43
- Burning indignation hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked who forsake thy law. Ps. 119:53
- This I have had, because I have observed thy precepts. Ps. 119:56
- At midnight I rise up to give thanks unto thee, because of thy righteous judgments. Ps. 119:62
- They that fear thee will see me, and rejoice; because I have hoped in thy word. Ps. 119:74
- I understand more than the aged, because I have observed thy precepts. Ps. 119:100
- Mine eyes run down with streams of water, because they keep not thy law. Ps. 119:136
- My zeal destroyeth me, because mine oppressors have forgotten thy words. Ps. 119:139
- I beheld them that deal treacherously, and was grieved; because they kept not thy *word. Ps. 119:158
- Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments. Ps. 119:164
- Because of the house of Jehovah our God I will seek thy good. Ps. 122:9
- Let Israel hope in Jehovah, because with Jehovah there is loving-kindness, and with him is plenteous redemption; Ps. 130:7
- Bring my soul out of prison, that I may celebrate thy name. The righteous shall surround me, because thou dealest bountifully with me. Ps. 142:7
- Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one regarded; Pr. 1:24
- Because they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of Jehovah; Pr. 1:29
- To punish a righteous man is not good, nor to strike nobles because of their uprightness. Pr. 17:26
- The devastation of the wicked sweepeth them away, because they refuse to do what is right. Pr. 21:7
- Rob not the poor, because he is poor, neither oppress the afflicted in the gate; Pr. 22:22
- Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, and be not envious of the wicked: Pr. 24:19
- For there shall be no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; because everything is already forgotten in the days which come. And how dieth the wise even as the fool? Eccl. 2:16
- And I hated all my labour wherewith I had been toiling under the sun, because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me. Eccl. 2:18
- Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. Eccl. 4:9
- For he will not much remember the days of his life, because God answereth him with the joy of his heart. Eccl. 5:20
- because the word of a king is power; and who may say unto him, What doest thou? Eccl. 8:4
- Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the children of men is fully set in them to do evil. Eccl. 8:11
- Though a sinner do evil a hundred times, and prolong his days, yet I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, because they fear before him; Eccl. 8:12
- but it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days as a shadow, because he feareth not before God. Eccl. 8:13
- And I commended mirth, because there is nothing better for man under the sun than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry; for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God hath given him under the sun. Eccl. 8:15
- then I saw that all is the work of God, and that man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because however man may labour to seek it out, yet doth he not find it; and even, if a wise man think to know it, he shall not be able to find it out. Eccl. 8:17
- The labour of fools wearieth them, because they know not how to go to the city. Eccl. 10:15
- in the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows are darkened, Eccl. 12:3
- And moreover, because the Preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. Eccl. 12:9
- Look not upon me, because I am black; Because the sun hath looked upon me. My mother's children were angry with me: They made me keeper of the vineyards; Mine own vineyard have I not kept. Song 1:6
- They all hold the sword, Experts in war; Each hath his sword upon his thigh Because of alarm in the nights. Song 3:8
- For thou hast cast off thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with what comes from the east, and use auguries like the Philistines, and ally themselves with the children of foreigners. Isa. 2:6
- For Jerusalem stumbleth and Judah falleth, because their tongue and their doings are against Jehovah, to provoke the eyes of his glory. Isa. 3:8
- Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him, because the desert of his hands shall be rendered unto him. Isa. 3:11
- And Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-out neck and wanton eyes, and go along mincing, and making a tinkling with their feet; Isa. 3:16
- and thou shalt say unto him, Take heed and be quiet; fear not, and let not thy heart faint before these two ends of smoking firebrands, because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah. Isa. 7:4
- And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck; and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. ... Isa. 10:27
- Prepare ye slaughter for his children, because of the iniquity of their fathers; that they may not rise up and possess the earth, nor fill the face of the world with cities. Isa. 14:21

- and it shall be for a sign and for a witness to Jehovah of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they shall cry unto Jehovah because of the oppressors, and he will send them a saviour and defender, who shall deliver them. Isa. 19:20
- Therefore said I, Look away from me; let me weep bitterly: labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people. Isa. 22:4
- Bread corn is crushed, because he will not ever be threshing it; and if he drove the wheels of his cart and his horses over it, he would not crush it. Isa. 28:28
- Therefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel: Because ye reject this word, and confide in oppression and wilfulness, and depend thereon, Isa. 30:12
- Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and depend on horses, and confide in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong; and who look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Jehovah! Isa. 31:1
- Because thy raging against me and thine arrogance is come up into mine ears, I will put my ring in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will make thee go back by the way by which thou camest. Isa. 37:29
- Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass, Isa. 48:4
- Thus saith Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to the servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise, princes, and they shall worship, because of Jehovah who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee. Isa. 49:7
- Wherefore did I come, and there was no man? I called, and there was none to answer? Is my hand at all shortened that I cannot redeem, or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make rivers a wilderness; their fish stink because there is no water, and die for thirst. Isa. 50:2
- and forgettest Jehovah thy Maker, who hath stretched out the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and thou art afraid continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he prepareth to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor? Isa. 51:13
- And men appointed his grave with the wicked, but he was with the rich in his death, because he had done no violence, neither was there guile in his mouth. Isa. 53:9
- Therefore will I assign him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong: because he hath poured out his soul unto death, and was reckoned with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Isa. 53:12
- Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever gathereth together against thee shall fall because of thee. Isa. 54:15
- Behold, thou shalt call a nation thou knowest not, and a nation that knew not thee shall run unto thee, because of Jehovah thy God, and the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee. Isa. 55:5
- The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me, because Jehovah hath anointed me to announce glad tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and opening of the prison to them that are bound; Isa. 61:1
- I will even assign you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down in the slaughter; because I called, and ye did not answer, I spoke, and ye did not hear; but ye did what was evil in mine eyes, and chose that wherein I delight not. Isa. 65:12
- so that he who blesseth himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the land shall swear by the God of truth: because the former troubles shall be forgotten, and because they shall be hidden from mine eyes. Isa. 65:16
- I also will choose their calamities, and will bring their fears upon them; because I called, and none answered, I spoke, and they did not hear, but did that which was evil in mine eyes, and chose that wherein I delight not. Isa. 66:4
- because ye shall suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; because ye shall drink out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. Isa. 66:11
- And thou sayest, Indeed I am innocent; his anger will turn from me. Behold, I will enter into judgment with thee because thou sayest, I have not sinned. Jer. 2:35
- Circumcise yourselves for Jehovah, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my fury come forth like fire and burn, and there be none to quench it, because of the evil of your doings. Jer. 4:4
- For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back therefrom. Jer. 4:28
- For I hear a voice, as of a woman in travail, anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion: she moaneth, she spreadeth forth her hands, saying, Woe unto me! for my soul faileth because of murderers. Jer. 4:31
- Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. Jer. 5:14
- And now, because ye have done all these works, saith Jehovah, and I spoke unto you, rising up early and speaking, and ye heard not, and I called you, and ye answered not; Jer. 7:13
- Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fenced cities, and let us be silent there: for Jehovah our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against Jehovah. Jer. 8:14
- And Jehovah saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not hearkened unto my voice, nor walked in it, Jer. 9:13
- How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of all the fields wither? Because of the wickedness of them that dwell therein, the beasts and the birds perish; for they say, He will not see our end. Jer. 12:4
- They have sown wheat, and they reap thorns; they have put themselves to pain, and do not profit. Be ye therefore ashamed of your revenues, because of the fierce anger of Jehovah. Jer. 12:13
- And if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because Jehovah's flock is gone into captivity. Jer. 13:17
- This shall be thy lot, thy measured portion from me, saith Jehovah; because thou hast forgotten me, and confided in falsehood. Jer. 13:25
- Because the ground is chapt, for there hath been no rain on the earth, the ploughmen are ashamed, they cover their heads. Jer. 14:4
- For the hind also calveth in the field, and forsaketh its young, because there is no grass. Jer. 14:5
- And the wild asses stand on the heights, they snuff up the wind like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage. Jer. 14:6
- and the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the famine and the sword; and there shall be none to bury them, them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters; and I will pour their wickedness upon them. Jer. 14:16
- And I will give them over to be driven hither and thither amongst all the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem. Jer. 15:4
- I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor exulted: I sat alone because of thy hand; for thou hast filled me with indignation. Jer. 15:17
- then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith Jehovah, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law; Jer. 16:11
- and I will cast you forth out of this land, into a land that ye know not, ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night: because I will shew you no favour. Jer. 16:13
- But first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have profaned my land with the carcases of their detestable things, and with their abominations have they filled mine inheritance. Jer. 16:18
- My mountain in the field, thy substance, all thy treasures will I give for a spoil, -- thy high places, because of sin throughout thy borders. Jer. 17:3
- Thou hope of Israel, Jehovah! all that forsake thee shall be ashamed. They that depart from me shall be written in the earth; because they have forsaken Jehovah, the fountain of living waters. Jer. 17:13
- because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place from me, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah; and have filled this place with the blood of innocents; Jer. 19:4
- And I will make this city an astonishment and a hissing; every one that passeth by shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof. Jer. 19:8
- because he slew me not from the womb. Or would that my mother had been my grave, and her womb always great with me! Jer. 20:17
- House of David, thus saith Jehovah: Judge with justice in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go forth like fire and burn, and there be none to quench it, because of the evil of your doings. Jer. 21:12
- And they shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of Jehovah their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them. Jer. 22:9
- Shalt thou reign, because thou viest with the cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice? Then it was well with him. Jer. 22:15
- Concerning the prophets: My heart within me is broken; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome; because of Jehovah, and because of the words of his holiness. Jer. 23:9
- For the land is full of adulterers; for because of execration the land mourneth. The pastures of the wilderness are dried up; for their course is evil, and their force is not right. Jer. 23:10
- But since ye say, The burden of Jehovah, therefore thus saith Jehovah: Because ye say this word, The burden of Jehovah, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of Jehovah; Jer. 23:38
- Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Because ye have not listened to my words, Jer. 25:8
- And they shall drink, and reel to and fro, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. Jer. 25:16
- And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink, and be drunken, and vomit, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword that I will send among you. Jer. 25:27
- and the peaceable enclosures shall be desolated, because of the fierce anger of Jehovah. Jer. 25:37
- He hath forsaken his covert as a young lion; for their land is a desolation because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger. Jer. 25:38
- Peradventure they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil which I purpose to do unto them because of the wickedness of their doings. Jer. 26:3
- because they have not hearkened to my words, saith Jehovah, wherewith I sent unto them my servants the prophets, rising early and sending; but ye have not hearkened, saith Jehovah. Jer. 29:19
- because they have committed infamy in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken words of falsehood in my name, which I had not commanded them: and I am he that knoweth, and am witness, saith Jehovah. Jer. 29:23
- Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying, Jer. 29:25
- Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he hath caused you to trust in falsehood; Jer. 29:31
- therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he see the good that I will do for my people, saith Jehovah; because he hath spoken revolt against Jehovah. Jer. 29:32
- Why criest thou because of thy bruise? thy sorrow is incurable; for the greatness of thine iniquity, because thy sins are manifold, I have done these things unto thee. Jer. 30:15
- Thus saith Jehovah: A voice hath been heard in Ramah, the wail of very bitter weeping, -- Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children, because they are not. Jer. 31:15
- because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Jer. 32:32
- For thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down because of the mounds and because of the sword: Jer. 33:4
- And it came to pass when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come and let us go into Jerusalem because of the army of the Chaldeans, and because of the army of Syria; and we dwell at Jerusalem. Jer. 35:11
- therefore thus saith Jehovah the God of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken unto them, but they have not hearkened, and I have called unto them, but they have not answered. Jer. 35:17
- And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his injunctions, and have done according unto all that he hath commanded you; Jer. 35:18
- And it came to pass when the army of the Chaldeans was gone up from Jerusalem because of Pharaoh's army, Jer. 37:11
- because of the Chaldeans; for they feared them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had smitten Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed over the land. Jer. 41:18
- because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense to serve other gods which they knew not, they, nor ye, nor your fathers. Jer. 44:3
- And Jehovah could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations that ye had committed; and your land is become a waste, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as at this day. Jer. 44:22
- Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened unto the voice of Jehovah, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil hath come upon you, as at this day. Jer. 44:23
- because of the day that cometh to lay waste all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper that remaineth; for Jehovah will lay waste the Philistines, the remnant of the island of Caphtor. Jer. 47:4
- For because thou hast confided in thy works and in thy treasures, thou also shalt be taken, and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity, his priests and his princes together. Jer. 48:7
- Because of the cry from Heshbon, unto Elaleh, unto Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar unto Horonaim, unto Eglath-shelishijah: for even the waters of Nimrim shall become desolations. Jer. 48:34
- Therefore my heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and my heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kir-heres; because the abundance that he hath gotten is perished. Jer. 48:36
- And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against Jehovah. Jer. 48:42
- And Edom shall be an astonishment: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss, because of all the plagues thereof. Jer. 49:17
- All that found them devoured them, and their adversaries said, We are not guilty, because they have sinned against Jehovah, the habitation of righteousness, even Jehovah, the hope of their fathers. Jer. 50:7
- Because of the wrath of Jehovah, it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate; every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and shall hiss, because of all her plagues. Jer. 50:13
- and shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise, because of the evil that I will bring upon it: and they shall be weary. Thus far the words of Jeremiah. Jer. 51:64
- For, because the anger of Jehovah was against Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. Jer. 52:3
- Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude; she dwelleth among the nations, she findeth no rest: all her pursuers have overtaken her within the straits. Lam. 1:3
- The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn assembly: all her gates are desolate; her priests sigh, her virgins are in grief; and as for her, she is in bitterness. Lam. 1:4
- Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore is she removed as an impurity: all that honoured her despise her because they have seen her nakedness; and she sigheth, and turneth backward. Lam. 1:8
- Mine eyes are consumed with tears, my bowels are troubled; my liver is poured upon the earth, because of the ruin of the daughter of my people; because infant and suckling swoon in the streets of the city. Lam. 2:11
- It is of Jehovah's loving-kindness we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not; Lam. 3:22
- He sitteth solitary and keepeth silence, because he hath laid it upon him; Lam. 3:28
- Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city. Lam. 3:51
- We have to get our bread at the risk of our lives, because of the sword of the wilderness. Lam. 5:9
- Our skin gloweth like an oven, because of the burning heat of the famine. Lam. 5:10
- Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate: foxes walk over it. Lam. 5:18
- And when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and do what is wrong, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die; because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous acts which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thy hand. Ezek. 3:20
- because bread and water shall fail them, and they shall be astonied one with another, and waste away in their iniquity. Ezek. 4:17
- Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have been turbulent more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept mine ordinances, nor even have done according to the ordinances of the nations that are round about you; Ezek. 5:7
- and I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations. Ezek. 5:9
- Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, verily because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also withdraw mine eye, and it shall not spare, nor will I have any pity. Ezek. 5:11
- and say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink their water with astonishment, because her land shall be left desolate of all that is in it, for the violence of all them that dwell therein. Ezek. 12:19
- Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye speak vanity, and have seen lies, therefore behold, I am against you, saith the Lord Jehovah. Ezek. 13:8
- Because, yea because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace! and there is no peace; and one buildeth up a wall, and lo, they daub it with untempered mortar -- Ezek. 13:10
- Because with falsehood ye have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and have strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, to save his life: Ezek. 13:22
- that I may take the house of Israel by their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols. Ezek. 14:5
- If I cause evil beasts to pass through the land, and they bereave it, and it become a desolation, so that no one passeth through because of the beasts; Ezek. 14:15
- And I will make the land a desolation, because they have wrought unfaithfulness, saith the Lord Jehovah. Ezek. 15:8
- But thou didst confide in thy beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy whoredoms on every one that passed by: his it was. Ezek. 16:15
- And thou didst commit fornication with the Assyrians, because thou wast insatiable; yea, thou didst commit fornication with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied. Ezek. 16:28
- Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thy money hath been poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy fornications with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thine abominations, and because of the blood of thy children which thou didst give unto them; Ezek. 16:36
- Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast raged against me in all these things, behold, therefore, I also will recompense thy way upon thy head, saith the Lord Jehovah, and thou shalt not commit this lewdness besides all thine abominations. Ezek. 16:43
- Thou also, who hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own confusion, because of thy sins in which thou hast acted more abominably than they: they are more righteous than thou. So be thou ashamed also, and bear thy confusion, in that thou hast justified thy sisters. Ezek. 16:52
- that thou mayest remember, and be ashamed, and no more open thy mouth because of thy confusion, when I forgive thee all that thou hast done, saith the Lord Jehovah. Ezek. 16:63
- As for his father, because he practised oppression, exercised robbery upon his brother, and did what was not good among his people, behold, he shall die in his iniquity. Ezek. 18:18
- Because he considereth, and turneth from all his transgressions which he hath committed, he shall certainly live, he shall not die. Ezek. 18:28
- because they rejected mine ordinances and walked not in my statutes, and profaned my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. Ezek. 20:16
- because they performed not mine ordinances, and rejected my statutes, and profaned my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols. Ezek. 20:24
- And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore dost thou sigh? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall languish, and all knees shall melt into water: behold, it cometh; it is here, saith the Lord Jehovah. Ezek. 21:7
- Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye make your iniquity to be remembered in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand. Ezek. 21:24
- Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye are all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. Ezek. 22:19
- These things shall be done unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the nations, because thou hast defiled thyself with their idols. Ezek. 23:30
- Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy fornications. Ezek. 23:35
- and say unto the children of Ammon, Hear the word of the Lord Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou saidst, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was made desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity: Ezek. 25:3
- For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast clapped the hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced with all the despite of thy soul against the land of Israel; Ezek. 25:6
- Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because Moab and Seir do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the nations, Ezek. 25:8
- Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath made himself very guilty, and revenged himself upon them, Ezek. 25:12
- Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with despite of soul, to destroy, from old hatred; Ezek. 25:15
- Son of man, because Tyre hath said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken, the gate of the peoples! she is turned unto me: I shall be replenished now she is laid waste; Ezek. 26:2
- And all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay aside their robes, and put off their broidered garments: they shall clothe themselves with trembling, they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble every moment, and be astonied because of thee. Ezek. 26:16
- Damascus dealt with thee because of the multitude of thy handiworks, by reason of the abundance of all substance, with wine of Helbon, and white wool. Ezek. 27:18
- Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyre, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thy heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a *god, I sit in the seat of God, in the heart of the seas, (and thou art a man, and not *God,) and thou settest thy heart as the heart of God: Ezek. 28:2
- by thy great wisdom thou hast by thy traffic increased thy riches, and thy heart is lifted up because of thy riches. Ezek. 28:5
- Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast set thy heart as the heart of God, Ezek. 28:6
- Thy heart was lifted up because of thy beauty; thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I have cast thee to the ground, I have laid thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Ezek. 28:17
- And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am Jehovah, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel. Ezek. 29:6
- And the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste: and they shall know that I am Jehovah, because he saith, The river is mine, and I made it. Ezek. 29:9
- I have given him the land of Egypt for his labour wherewith he served against it, because they wrought for me, saith the Lord Jehovah. Ezek. 29:20
- Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long, because of great waters, when he shot forth. Ezek. 31:5
- Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: because his root was by great waters. Ezek. 31:7
- Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast lifted up thyself in stature, ... and he hath set his top amidst the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height, Ezek. 31:10
- And they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have made the land a desolation and an astonishment because of all their abominations which they have committed. Ezek. 33:29
- And they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, and were scattered. Ezek. 34:5

- Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it, whereas Jehovah was there: Ezek. 35:10
- As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolated, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be a desolation, O mount Seir, and all Edom, the whole of it: and they shall know that I am Jehovah. Ezek. 35:15
- Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha! and, The ancient high places are become ours in possession; Ezek. 36:2
- therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because, yea, because they have made you desolate, and have swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the remnant of the nations, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and in the defaming of the people: Ezek. 36:3
- Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and to the hills, to the water-courses and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because ye have borne the ignominy of the nations; Ezek. 36:6
- Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because they say unto you, Thou devourest men, and hast bereaved thy nation, Ezek. 36:13
- And I poured out my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols. Ezek. 36:18
- And the nations shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity, because they were unfaithful against me; and I hid my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies, so that they fell all of them by the sword. Ezek. 39:23
- And the upper cells, because the galleries encroached on them, were shorter than the lower, and than the middle-most of the building. Ezek. 42:5
- Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and were unto the house of Israel a stumbling-block of iniquity; therefore have I lifted up my hand against them, saith the Lord Jehovah, that they shall bear their iniquity. Ezek. 44:12
- The king answered and said, I know of a certainty that ye would gain time, because ye see the word is gone forth from me; Dan. 2:8
- The king answered Daniel and said, Of a truth it is that your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, because thou wast able to reveal this secret. Dan. 2:47
- Therefore I make a decree, that in every people, nation, and language, he who shall speak anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and his house shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that is able to deliver after this sort. Dan. 3:29
- O Belteshazzar, master of the scribes, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret is too hard for thee, tell me the visions of my dream which I have seen, and the interpretation of it. Dan. 4:9
- Now this Daniel surpassed the presidents and the satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to appoint him over the whole realm. Dan. 6:3
- Thereupon was the king exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God. Dan. 6:23
- I beheld therefore, because of the voice of the great words that the horn spoke; I beheld till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given up to be burned with fire. Dan. 7:11
- Thine, O Lord, is the righteousness, but unto us confusion of face, as at this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, in all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their unfaithfulness in which they have been unfaithful against thee. Dan. 9:7
- O Lord, unto us is confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. Dan. 9:8
- Lord, according to all thy righteousnesses, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain; for because of our sins, and because of the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all round about us. Dan. 9:16
- Incline thine ear, O my God, and hear; open thine eyes and behold our desolations, and the city that is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee because of our righteousnesses, but because of thy manifold mercies. Dan. 9:18
- And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week; and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and because of the protection of abominations there shall be a desolator, even until that the consumption and what is determined shall be poured out upon the desolate. Dan. 9:27
- And he said unto me, Fear not, Daniel; for from the first day that thou didst set thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come because of thy words. Dan. 10:12
- they sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oak and poplar and terebinth, because the shade thereof is good; therefore your daughters play the harlot and your daughters-in-law commit adultery. Hos. 4:13
- The wind hath wrapped her up in its wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices. Hos. 4:19
- Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because in selfwill he walked after the commandment of man. Hos. 5:11

- Because of violence against thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever. Oba. 1:10

- For before those days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; and there was no peace for him that went out or that came in, because of the distress: for I let loose all men, every one against his neighbour. Zech. 8:10
- And I will encamp about my house because of the army, because of those that pass by and that return; and the exactor shall not pass through them any more: for now have I seen it with mine eyes. Zech. 9:8
- For the teraphim have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams: they comfort in vain. Therefore they have gone away as a flock, they are in distress, because there is no shepherd. Zech. 10:2

- nor by the earth, because it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the great King. Mt. 5:35

- But when he saw the crowds he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed, and cast away as sheep not having a shepherd. Mt. 9:36
- Then began he to reproach the cities in which most of his works of power had taken place, because they had not repented. Mt. 11:20
- and others fell upon the rocky places where they had not much earth, and immediately they sprang up out of the ground because of not having any depth of earth, Mt. 13:5

- But Jesus, having called his disciples to him, said, I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me already three days and they have not anything they can eat, and I would not send them away fasting lest they should faint on the way. Mt. 15:32
- And they reasoned among themselves, saying, Because we have taken no bread. Mt. 16:7
- And Jesus knowing it, said, Why reason ye among yourselves, O ye of little faith, because ye have taken no bread? Mt. 16:8
- And he says to them, Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say to this mountain, Be transported hence there, and it shall transport itself; and nothing shall be impossible to you. Mt. 17:20
- Woe to the world because of offences! For it must needs be that offences come; yet woe to that man by whom the offence comes! Mt. 18:7
- And if it should come to pass that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoices more because of it than because of the ninety and nine not gone astray. Mt. 18:13
- Then his lord, having called him to him, says to him, Wicked bondman! I forgave thee all that debt because thou besoughtest me; Mt. 18:32
- They say to him, Because no man has hired us. He says to them, Go also ye into the vineyard and whatsoever may be just ye shall receive. Mt. 20:7
- is it not lawful for me to do what I will in my own affairs? Is thine eye evil because *I* am good? Mt. 20:15
- And seeking to lay hold of him, they were afraid of the crowds, because they held him for a prophet. Mt. 21:46
- and because lawlessness shall prevail, the love of the most shall grow cold; Mt. 24:12
- But, as he was sitting on the judgment-seat, his wife sent to him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that righteous man; for I have suffered to-day many things in a dream because of him. Mt. 27:19
- And he healed many suffering from various diseases; and he cast out many demons, and did not suffer the demons to speak because they knew him. Mk. 1:34

- because it does not enter into his heart but into his belly, and goes out into the draught, purging all meats? Mk. 7:19
- And he said to her, Because of this word, go thy way, the demon is gone out of thy daughter. Mk. 7:29

- Afterwards as they lay at table he was manifested to the eleven, and reproached them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen him risen. Mk. 16:14

- and demons also went out from many, crying out and saying, *Thou* art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ. Lk. 4:41
- and other fell upon the rock, and having sprung up, it was dried up because it had not moisture; Lk. 8:6

- And Herod the tetrarch heard of all the things which were done by him, and was in perplexity, because it was said by some that John was risen from among the dead, Lk. 9:7
- And John answering said, Master, we saw some one casting out demons in thy name, and we forbad him, because he follows not with us. Lk. 9:49
- And they did not receive him, because his face was turned as going to Jerusalem. Lk. 9:53
- -- I say to you, Although he will not get up and give them to him because he is his friend, because of his shamelessness, at any rate, he will rise and give him as many as he wants. Lk. 11:8
- and if also Satan is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom subsist? because ye say that I cast out demons by Beelzebub. Lk. 11:18
- And he said to them, Take heed and keep yourselves from all covetousness, for it is not because a man is in abundance that his life is in his possessions. Lk. 12:15
- And he answering said to them, Think ye that these Galileans were sinners beyond all the Galileans because they suffered such things? Lk. 13:2
- But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus healed on the sabbath, answering said to the crowd, There are six days in which people ought to work; in these therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. Lk. 13:14
- And he said to him, Thy brother is come, and thy father has killed the fatted calf because he has received him safe and well. Lk. 15:27
- But it was right to make merry and rejoice, because this thy brother was dead and has come to life again, and was lost and has been found. Lk. 15:32
- And the lord praised the unrighteous steward because he had done prudently. For the sons of this world are, for their own generation, more prudent than the sons of light. Lk. 16:8
- Is he thankful to the bondman because he has done what was ordered? I judge not. Lk. 17:9
- at any rate because this widow annoys me I will avenge her, that she may not by perpetually coming completely harass me. Lk. 18:5
- And he sought to see Jesus who he was: and he could not for the crowd, because he was little in stature. Lk. 19:3
- But as they were listening to these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God was about to be immediately manifested. Lk. 19:11
- And he said to him, Well done, thou good bondman; because thou hast been faithful in that which is least, be thou in authority over ten cities. Lk. 19:17
- For I feared thee because thou art a harsh man: thou takest up what thou hast not laid down, and thou reapest what thou hast not sowed. Lk. 19:21
- And if any one ask you, Why do ye loose it? thus shall ye say to him, Because the Lord has need of it. Lk. 19:31
- And they said, Because the Lord has need of it. Lk. 19:34
- and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children in thee; and shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone: because thou knewest not the season of thy visitation. Lk. 19:44
- But when these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws nigh. Lk. 21:28
- And when Herod saw Jesus he greatly rejoiced, for he had been a long while desirous of seeing him, because of hearing many things concerning him, and he hoped to see some sign done by him; Lk. 23:8
- He it is of whom I said, A man comes after me who takes a place before me, because he *was* before me; Jn. 1:30
- Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, believest thou? Thou shalt see greater things than these. Jn. 1:50
- But Jesus himself did not trust himself to them, because he knew all men, Jn. 2:24
- He that believes on him is not judged: but he that believes not has been already judged, because he has not believed on the name of the only-begotten Son of God. Jn. 3:18
- And John also was baptising in Aenon, near Salim, because there was a great deal of water there; and they came to him and were baptised: Jn. 3:23
- He that has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices in heart because of the voice of the bridegroom: this my joy then is fulfilled. Jn. 3:29
- But many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him because of the word of the woman who bore witness, He told me all things that I had ever done. Jn. 4:39
- And for this the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill him, because he had done these things on sabbath. Jn. 5:16
- For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he had not only violated the sabbath, but also said that God was his own Father, making himself equal with God. Jn. 5:18
- and has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is Son of man. Jn. 5:27
- I cannot do anything of myself; as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous, because I do not seek my will, but the will of him that has sent me. Jn. 5:30
- and a great crowd followed him, because they saw the signs which he wrought upon the sick. Jn. 6:2
- Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me not because ye have seen signs, but because ye have eaten of the loaves and been filled. Jn. 6:26
- The Jews therefore murmured about him, because he said, I am the bread which has come down out of heaven. Jn. 6:41
- And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him. Jn. 7:1
- The world cannot hate you, but me it hates, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil. Jn. 7:7
- If a man receives circumcision on sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be violated, are ye angry with me because I have made a man entirely sound on sabbath? Jn. 7:23
- I know him, because I am from him, and *he* has sent me. Jn. 7:29
- They sought therefore to take him; and no one laid his hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come. Jn. 7:30
- But this he said concerning the Spirit, which they that believed on him were about to receive; for the Spirit was not yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified. Jn. 7:39
- Jesus answered and said to them, Even if I bear witness concerning myself, my witness is true, because I know whence I came and whither I go: but ye know not whence I come and whither I go. Jn. 8:14

- Ye are of the devil, as your father, and ye desire to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks falsehood, he speaks of what is his own; for he is a liar and its father: Jn. 8:44
- and because I speak the truth, ye do not believe me. Jn. 8:45
- He that is of God hears the words of God: therefore ye hear them not, because ye are not of God. Jn. 8:47
- His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if any one confessed him to be the Christ, he should be excommunicated from the synagogue. Jn. 9:22
- When he has put forth all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. Jn. 10:4
- But they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they know not the voice of strangers. Jn. 10:5
- Now he who serves for wages flees because he serves for wages, and is not himself concerned about the sheep. Jn. 10:13
- On this account the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again. Jn. 10:17

- the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him nor know him; but ye know him, for he abides with you, and shall be in you. Jn. 14:17

- A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world. Jn. 16:21
- for the Father himself has affection for you, because ye have had affection for me, and have believed that I came out from God. Jn. 16:27
- I have given them thy word, and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, as I am not of the world. Jn. 17:14

- Wherefore? Because it was not on the principle of faith, but as of works. They have stumbled at the stumblingstone, Rom. 9:32
- But he that doubts, if he eat, is condemned; because it is not of faith; but whatever is not of faith is sin. Rom. 14:23
- But I have written to you the more boldly, brethren, in part, as putting you in mind, because of the grace given to me by God, Rom. 15:15
- Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1 Cor. 1:25
- But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him; and he cannot know them because they are spiritually discerned; 1 Cor. 2:14

- Because, even as the sufferings of the Christ abound towards us, so through the Christ does our encouragement also abound. 2 Cor. 1:5
- Because it is the God who spoke that out of darkness light should shine who has shone in our hearts for the shining forth of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Cor. 4:6
- For this reason we have been encouraged. And we the rather rejoiced in our encouragement more abundantly by reason of the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all. 2 Cor. 7:13
- Because if I boasted to him anything about you, I have not been put to shame; but as we have spoken to you all things in truth, so also our boasting to Titus has been the truth; 2 Cor. 7:14
- Because the ministration of this service is not only filling up the measure of what is lacking to the saints, but also abounding by many thanksgivings to God; 2 Cor. 9:12
- because his letters, he says, are weighty and strong, but his presence in the body weak, and his speech naught. 2 Cor. 10:10
- Have I committed sin, abasing myself in order that *ye* might be exalted, because I gratuitously announced to you the glad tidings of God? 2 Cor. 11:7
- Why? because I do not love you? God knows. 2 Cor. 11:11
- But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be condemned: Gal. 2:11
- but knowing that a man is not justified on the principle of works of law nor but by the faith of Jesus Christ, *we* also have believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified on the principle of the faith of Christ; and not of works of law; because on the principle of works of law no flesh shall be justified. Gal. 2:16
- but that by law no one is justified with God is evident, because The just shall live on the principle of faith; Gal. 3:11
- But because ye are sons, God has sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Gal. 4:6
- For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break out and cry, thou that travailest not; because the children of the desolate are more numerous than those of her that has a husband. Gal. 4:27
- As many as desire to have a fair appearance in the flesh, these compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not be persecuted because of the cross of Christ. Gal. 6:12
- but God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love wherewith he loved us, Eph. 2:4
- Wherefore, having put off falsehood, speak truth every one with his neighbour, because we are members one of another. Eph. 4:25

- But he that hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and knows not where he goes, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1 Jn. 2:11

- Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, if they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 Jn. 4:1
- *Ye* are of God, children, and have overcome them, because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. 1 Jn. 4:4
- Beloved, let us love one another; because love is of God, and every one that loves has been begotten of God, and knows God. 1 Jn. 4:7
- *We* love because *he* has first loved us. 1 Jn. 4:19
- He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself; he that does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness which God has witnessed concerning his Son. 1 Jn. 5:10
- Woe to them! because they have gone in the way of Cain, and given themselves up to the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. Jude 1:11
- Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they which have pierced him, and all the tribes of the land shall wail because of him. Yea. Amen. Rev. 1:7
- But thou hast a few names in Sardis which have not defiled their garments, and they shall walk with me in white, because they are worthy. Rev. 3:4
