And Sarai said to Abram, My wrong be on thee! I have given my maidservant into thy bosom; and now she sees that she has conceived, I am lightly esteemed in her eyes. Jehovah judge between me and thee! Gen. 16:5
And Abram said to Sarai, Behold, thy maidservant is in thy hand: do to her what is good in thine eyes. And Sarai oppressed her; and she fled from her face. Gen. 16:6
And the Angel of Jehovah found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur. Gen. 16:7
And the Angel of Jehovah said to her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands. Gen. 16:9
And the Angel of Jehovah said to her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude. Gen. 16:10

And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the flask with water, and gave the lad drink. Gen. 21:19
And Sarah died in Kirjath-Arba: that is Hebron, in the land of Canaan. And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her. Gen. 23:2
And it came to pass before he had ended speaking, that behold, Rebecca came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother; and she had her pitcher upon her shoulder. Gen. 24:15
And the maiden was very fair in countenance; a virgin, and no man had known her. And she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. Gen. 24:16
And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, sip a little water out of thy pitcher. Gen. 24:17

And it came to pass when the camels had drunk enough, that the man took a gold ring, of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands, ten shekels weight of gold, Gen. 24:22
And the maiden ran and told these things to her mother's house. Gen. 24:28
Before I ended speaking in my heart, behold, Rebecca came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder, and went down to the well, and drew water; and I said to her, Give me, I pray thee, to drink. Gen. 24:45
And she hasted and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also. And I drank; and she gave the camels drink also. Gen. 24:46
And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bore to him. And I put the ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her hands. Gen. 24:47
Behold, Rebecca is before thee: take her, and go away; and let her be wife of thy master's son, as Jehovah has said. Gen. 24:51
And the servant brought forth silver articles, and gold articles, and clothing, and he gave them to Rebecca; and he gave to her brother, and to her mother, precious things. Gen. 24:53
And her brother and her mother said, Let the maiden abide with us some days, or say ten; after that she shall go. Gen. 24:55

While he was still speaking to them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she was a shepherdess. Gen. 29:9
And Jacob told Rachel that he was a brother of her father, and that he was Rebecca's son; and she ran and told her father. Gen. 29:12
And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee than that I should give her to another man: abide with me. Gen. 29:19

Then Judah said to Onan, Go in to thy brother's wife, and fulfil to her the brother-in-law's duty, and raise up seed to thy brother. Gen. 38:8
And Judah said to Tamar his daughter-in-law, Remain a widow in thy father's house, until Shelah my son is grown; for he said, Lest he die also, as his brethren. And Tamar went and remained in her father's house. Gen. 38:11

And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy lace, and thy staff which is in thy hand. And he gave it her, and went in to her; and she conceived by him. Gen. 38:18
And she arose and went away; and she laid by her veil from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood. Gen. 38:19
And Judah sent the kid of the goats by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive the pledge from the woman's hand; but he found her not. Gen. 38:20
And he asked the men of her place, saying, Where is the prostitute that was at Enaim, by the way-side? And they said, There was no prostitute here. Gen. 38:21
And he returned to Judah, and said, I have not found her; and also the men of the place said, No prostitute has been here. Gen. 38:22
Then Judah said, Let her take it for herself, lest we be put to shame. Behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her. Gen. 38:23
And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter-in-law has committed fornication, and behold, she is also with child by fornication. And Judah said, Bring her forth, that she may be burned. Gen. 38:24
When she was brought forth, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, By the man to whom these belong am I with child; and she said, Acknowledge, I pray thee, whose are this signet, and this lace, and this staff. Gen. 38:25
And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She is more righteous than I, because I have not given her to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more. Gen. 38:26
And it came to pass at the time of her delivery, that behold, twins were in her womb. Gen. 38:27
And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph, and said, Lie with me! Gen. 39:7

And if her hand cannot find what is sufficient for a sheep, she shall bring two turtle-doves or two young pigeons; one for a burnt-offering, and the other for a sin-offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her; and she shall be clean. Lev. 12:8
And if a woman have a flux, and her flux in her flesh be blood, she shall be seven days in her separation, and whoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even. Lev. 15:19
And everything that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean; and everything that she sitteth upon shall be unclean. Lev. 15:20
And whoever toucheth her bed shall wash his garments, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the even. Lev. 15:21
And if a man lie with her at all, and the uncleanness of her separation come upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and every bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean. Lev. 15:24

And if she be cleansed of her flux then she shall count seven days, and after that she shall be clean. Lev. 15:28
And the priest shall offer the one as a sin-offering, and the other as a burnt-offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her before Jehovah for the flux of her uncleanness. Lev. 15:30
and for a woman who is sick in her separation, and for him that hath his flux; for the man and for the woman, and for him that lieth with her that is unclean. Lev. 15:33
The nakedness of thy father, and the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother: thou shalt not uncover her nakedness. Lev. 18:7
The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father: she is thy sister: thou shalt not uncover her nakedness. Lev. 18:11
The nakedness of thy daughter-in-law shalt thou not uncover: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness. Lev. 18:15

-- Do not profane thy daughter, to give her up to whoredom; lest the land practise whoredom, and the land become full of infamy. Lev. 19:29
And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is infamy: they shall burn him and them with fire, that there be no infamy among you. Lev. 20:14
And if a man take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness, that is a disgrace; and they shall be cut off before the eyes of the children of their people: he hath uncovered his sister's nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity. And the priest shall adjure her, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone astray in uncleanness, in being with another instead of thy husband, be free from this bitter water that bringeth the curse. Num. 5:19
and he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that bringeth the curse, that the water that bringeth the curse may enter into her for bitterness. Num. 5:24
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, if she have been defiled, and have committed unfaithfulness against her husband, that the water that bringeth the curse shall enter into her, for bitterness, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall shrink; and the woman shall become a curse among her people. Num. 5:27
This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goeth astray to another instead of her husband and is defiled, Num. 5:29
or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon a man, and he is jealous as regards his wife; then shall he set the woman before Jehovah, and the priest shall do to her according to all this law. Num. 5:30
Then shall the man be free from iniquity, but that woman shall bear her iniquity. Num. 5:31
Let her not be as one stillborn, half of whose flesh is consumed when he comes out of his mother's womb. Num. 12:12
And Moses cried to Jehovah, saying, O *God, heal her, I beseech thee! Num. 12:13
And Jehovah said to Moses, But had her father anyways spat in her face, should she not be shamed seven days? She shall be shut outside the camp seven days, and afterwards she shall be received in again. Num. 12:14

And the ass saw the Angel of Jehovah, and she pressed herself against the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall; and he smote her again. Num. 22:25
And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times; had she not turned from me, I had now certainly slain thee, and saved her alive. Num. 22:33
and he went after the man of Israel into the tent-chamber, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly. And the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. Num. 25:8
If a woman also vow a vow to Jehovah, and bind herself by a bond, in her father's house in her youth, Num. 30:3
and her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall be silent at her, then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. Num. 30:4
But if her father prohibited her in the day that he heard, none of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand; and Jehovah shall pardon her, because her father prohibited her. Num. 30:5
And if she have a husband, when she hath her vow upon her or ought that hath passed her lips wherewith she hath bound her soul, Num. 30:6
and her husband hear it and be silent at her in the day that he heareth it, then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. Num. 30:7
But if her husband prohibit her on the day that he heareth it, and annul her vow which is upon her, and what hath passed her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul, then Jehovah shall pardon her. Num. 30:8
But the vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, -- everything wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand against her. Num. 30:9
And if she have vowed in her husband's house, or have bound her soul by an oath with a bond, Num. 30:10
and her husband have heard it, and been silent at her, and hath not prohibited her, then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. Num. 30:11
But if her husband have expressly annulled them on the day that he heard them, then nothing of that which is gone out of her lips as to her vows or the bond on her soul, shall stand: her husband hath annulled them; and Jehovah will pardon her. Num. 30:12
Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband can establish it, or her husband can annul it. Num. 30:13
And if her husband be altogether silent at her from day to day, then he hath established all her vows or all her bonds which are upon her; he hath confirmed them, for he hath been silent at her in the day that he heard them. Num. 30:14
But if he in any way annul them after he hath heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity. Num. 30:15
These are the statutes, which Jehovah commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between a father and his daughter, in her youth in her father's house. Num. 30:16
And every daughter that possesseth an inheritance among the tribes of the children of Israel, shall be married to one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may possess every one the inheritance of his fathers, Num. 36:8
And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her. Dt. 20:7
and thou seest among the captives a woman of beautiful form, and hast a desire unto her, and takest her as thy wife; Dt. 21:11
then thou shalt bring her home to thy house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; Dt. 21:12
and she shall put the clothes of her captivity from off her, and shall abide in thy house, and bewail her father and mother a full month, and afterwards thou mayest go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife. Dt. 21:13
And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go according to her desire; but thou shalt in no wise sell her for money; thou shalt not treat her as a slave, because thou hast humbled her. Dt. 21:14
If a man take a wife, and go in unto her and hate her, Dt. 22:13
and charge her with things for scandalous talk, and cause an evil name against her to be spread abroad, and say, This woman have I taken, and I came in unto her, and I did not find her a virgin; Dt. 22:14
then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate; Dt. 22:15
and the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man as wife, and he hates her; Dt. 22:16
and behold, he charges her with things for scandalous talk, saying, I found not thy daughter a virgin; and here are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city. Dt. 22:17
and they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath caused an evil name to be spread abroad against a virgin in Israel. And she shall remain his wife: he may not put her away all his days. Dt. 22:19
then they shall bring out the damsel unto the entrance of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought infamy in Israel, committing fornication in her father's house; and thou shalt put evil away from thy midst. Dt. 22:21
If a damsel, a virgin, be betrothed to some one, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her, Dt. 22:23
But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her, then the man only that lay with her shall die; Dt. 22:25
for he found her in the field, the betrothed damsel cried, and there was no one to save her. Dt. 22:27
If a man find a damsel, a virgin, who is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found, Dt. 22:28
then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he hath humbled her; he may not put her away all his days. Dt. 22:29
When a man taketh a wife, and marrieth her, it shall be if she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some unseemly thing in her, that he shall write her a letter of divorce, and give it into her hand, and send her out of his house. Dt. 24:1
And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a letter of divorce, and give it into her hand, and send her out of his house; or if the latter husband die who took her as his wife; Dt. 24:3
her first husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for it is an abomination before Jehovah; and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance. Dt. 24:4
If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no son, the wife of the dead shall not marry a stranger abroad: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him as wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother unto her. Dt. 25:5
Then the elders of his city shall call him and speak unto him; and if he stand to it and say, I like not to take her; Dt. 25:8
When men fight together one with another, and the wife of the one come near to rescue her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and stretch out her hand, and seize him by his secret parts, Dt. 25:11
thou shalt cut off her hand; thine eye shall not spare. Dt. 25:12

The eye of the tender and luxurious woman in thy midst who would not attempt to set the sole of her foot upon the ground from luxuriousness and from tenderness, shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and her son, and her daughter, Dt. 28:56
because of her afterbirth which hath come out between her feet, and her children whom she shall bear; for she shall secretly eat them for want of everything in the siege and in the straitness wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates. Dt. 28:57
And the men said to her, Our lives shall pay for yours, if ye do not make this our business known; and it shall be when Jehovah shall give us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee. Josh. 2:14

She put her hand to the tent-pin, And her right hand to the workmen's hammer; And she smote Sisera, she struck through his head, Shattered and pierced through his temples. Judg. 5:26

And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned to her father, and he performed on her the vow that he had vowed; and she had known no man. And it became a fixed custom in Israel, Judg. 11:39
And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to the woman, and said to her, Behold now, thou art barren and bearest not; but thou shalt conceive and bear a son. Judg. 13:3
And the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came to me, and his appearance was like the appearance of an angel of God, very terrible; but I did not ask him whence he was, neither did he tell me his name. Judg. 13:6
And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the Angel of God came again to the woman whilst she sat in the field; but Manoah her husband was not with her. Judg. 13:9
Then the woman hasted and ran, and informed her husband, and said to him, Behold, the man has appeared to me, that came to me that day. Judg. 13:10
And the Angel of Jehovah said to Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware: Judg. 13:13
she shall not eat of anything that cometh of the vine, neither shall she drink wine or strong drink, nor eat anything unclean: all that I commanded her shall she observe. Judg. 13:14
And he went up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnathah of the daughters of the Philistines; and now take her for me as wife. Judg. 14:2
And his father and his mother said to him, Is there no woman among the daughters of thy brethren, and among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the Philistines, the uncircumcised? And Samson said to his father, Take her for me, for she pleases me well. Judg. 14:3
And he returned after a time to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion; and behold, there was a swarm of bees in the carcase of the lion, and honey; Judg. 14:8
And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not. Thou hast propounded the riddle to the children of my people, and hast not explained it to me. And he said to her, Behold, I have not explained it to my father nor my mother, and shall I explain it to thee? Judg. 14:16
And she wept before him the seven days, while they had the feast. And it came to pass on the seventh day, that he explained it to her, for she pressed him. And she explained the riddle to the children of her people. Judg. 14:17
And it came to pass after a time, in the days of the wheat-harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid of the goats. And he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber; but her father would not suffer him to go in. Judg. 15:1
And her father said, I verily thought that thou didst utterly hate her; therefore I gave her to thy companion. Is not her younger sister fairer than she? Let her, I pray thee, be thine instead of her. Judg. 15:2
And the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they answered, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burned her and her father with fire. Judg. 15:6
And Samson went to Gazah, and saw there a harlot, and went in to her. Judg. 16:1
And the lords of the Philistines came up to her, and said to her, Persuade him, and see in what his great strength is, and with what we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to overpower him; and we will each give thee eleven hundred silver-pieces. Judg. 16:5
And Samson said to her, If they should bind me with seven fresh cords which have not been dried, then should I be weak, and be as another man. Judg. 16:7
Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven fresh cords which had not been dried, and she bound him with them. Judg. 16:8
And he said to her, If they should bind me fast with new ropes, with which no work has been done, then should I be weak, and be as another man. Judg. 16:11
And Delilah said to Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me and told me lies. Tell me with what thou mightest be bound. And he said to her, If thou shouldest weave the seven locks of my head with the web. Judg. 16:13
And it came to pass when she pressed him daily with her words and urged him, that his soul was vexed unto death; Judg. 16:16
and he told her all his heart, and said to her, There has not come a razor upon my head; for I am a Nazarite of God from my mother's womb; if I should be shaven, then my strength would go from me, and I should be weak, and be like all mankind. Judg. 16:17
And Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, and she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this time, for he has told me all his heart. And the lords of the Philistines came up to her, and brought the money in their hand. Judg. 16:18
And she made him sleep upon her knees, and called a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to overpower him, and his strength went from him. Judg. 16:19
And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him to her father's house to Bethlehem-Judah, and was there some time, -- four months. Judg. 19:2
And her husband rose up and went after her, to speak kindly to her, to bring her again; and his servant was with him, and a couple of asses. And she brought him into her father's house; and when the father of the damsel saw him he rejoiced to meet him. Judg. 19:3
But the men would not hearken to him; and the man took his concubine, and brought her forth to them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning; and let her go when the morning-dawn arose. Judg. 19:25
And the woman came at the dawning of the day, and fell down at the entrance of the man's house where her lord was, till it was light. Judg. 19:26
And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the door of the house, and went out to go his way, and behold, there lay the woman his concubine at the entrance of the house, and her hands were upon the threshold. Judg. 19:27
And he said to her, Up, and let us go; but no one answered. And he took her upon the ass; and the man rose up, and went to his place. Judg. 19:28
And when he was come into his house, he took the knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, according to her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all the borders of Israel. Judg. 19:29
Then I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout the country of the inheritance of Israel; for they have committed lewdness and villany in Israel. Judg. 20:6
And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. Ruth 1:3
And Mahlon and Chilion died also, both of them; and the woman was left of her two children and of her husband. Ruth 1:5
And she arose, she and her daughters-in-law, and returned from the fields of Moab; for she had heard in the fields of Moab how that Jehovah had visited his people to give them bread. Ruth 1:6
Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she had been, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah. Ruth 1:7
And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, Go, return each to her mother's house. Jehovah deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead and with me. Ruth 1:8
Jehovah grant you that ye may find rest, each in the house of her husband. And she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice and wept. Ruth 1:9
And they said to her, We will certainly return with thee to thy people. Ruth 1:10
And they lifted up their voice and wept again. And Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clave to her. Ruth 1:14
And she said, Behold, thy sister-in-law is gone back to her people and to her gods: return after thy sister-in-law. Ruth 1:15
And when she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, she left off speaking to her. Ruth 1:18

And Naomi had a relation of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz. Ruth 2:1
And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, Let me, I pray, go to the field and glean among the ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find favour. And she said to her, Go, my daughter. Ruth 2:2
and she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather among the sheaves after the reapers. And she came, and has continued from the morning until now: her sitting in the house has been little as yet. Ruth 2:7
Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, Why have I found favour in thine eyes, that thou shouldest regard me, seeing I am a foreigner? Ruth 2:10
And Boaz answered and said to her, It has fully been shewn me, all that thou hast done to thy mother-in-law since the death of thy husband; and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come to a people that thou hast not known heretofore. Ruth 2:11
And Boaz said to her at mealtime, Come hither and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers; and he reached her parched corn, and she ate and was sufficed, and reserved some. Ruth 2:14
And when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and ye shall not reproach her. Ruth 2:15
And ye shall also sometimes draw out for her some ears out of the handfuls, and leave them that she may glean, and rebuke her not. Ruth 2:16
And she took it up, and came into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned; and she brought forth and gave to her that which she had reserved after she was sufficed. Ruth 2:18
And her mother-in-law said to her, Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where hast thou wrought? Blessed be he that did regard thee! And she told her mother-in-law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to-day is Boaz. Ruth 2:19
And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, Blessed be he of Jehovah, who has not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead! And Naomi said to her, The man is near of kin to us, one of those who have the right of our redemption. Ruth 2:20
And Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field. Ruth 2:22
So she kept with the maidens of Boaz to glean, until the end of the barley-harvest and of the wheat-harvest. And she dwelt with her mother-in-law. Ruth 2:23
And Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? Ruth 3:1
And she said to her, All that thou sayest will I do. Ruth 3:5
And she went down to the floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law had bidden her. Ruth 3:6
And he said, Bring the cloak that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And she held it, and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her; and he went into the city. Ruth 3:15
And she came to her mother-in-law; and she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her. Ruth 3:16
And Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife; and he went in unto her, and Jehovah gave her conception, and she bore a son. Ruth 4:13
And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse to it. Ruth 4:16
And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi. And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David. Ruth 4:17
And it came to pass on the day that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters portions; 1 Sam. 1:4
but to Hannah he used to give a double portion, for he loved Hannah; but Jehovah had shut up her womb. 1 Sam. 1:5
And her adversary provoked her much also, to make her fret, because Jehovah had shut up her womb. 1 Sam. 1:6
And as he did so year by year, as often as she went up to the house of Jehovah, she provoked her thus; and she wept and did not eat. 1 Sam. 1:7
And Elkanah her husband said to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? Am not I better to thee than ten sons? 1 Sam. 1:8
And it came to pass as she continued praying before Jehovah, that Eli marked her mouth. 1 Sam. 1:12
Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard; and Eli thought she was drunken. 1 Sam. 1:13
And Eli said to her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. 1 Sam. 1:14
And she said, Let thy bondwoman find grace in thy sight. And the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more as before. 1 Sam. 1:18
And they rose up early in the morning and worshipped before Jehovah, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and Jehovah remembered her. 1 Sam. 1:19
And Elkanah her husband, and all his house, went up to sacrifice to Jehovah the yearly sacrifice and his vow. 1 Sam. 1:21
But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, I will wait until the child is weaned; then will I bring him, that he may appear before Jehovah, and there abide for ever. 1 Sam. 1:22
And Elkanah her husband said to her, Do what is good in thy sight: abide until thou hast weaned him; only, may Jehovah fulfil his word. And the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him. 1 Sam. 1:23
And she took him up with her when she had weaned him, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a flask of wine, and brought him to the house of Jehovah to Shiloh; and the boy was young. 1 Sam. 1:24
And his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to sacrifice the yearly sacrifice. 1 Sam. 2:19
And his daughter-in-law, Phinehas' wife, was with child, near to be delivered; and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her. 1 Sam. 4:19
And as she was dying, the women that stood by her said, Fear not; for thou hast borne a son. But she did not answer, neither did she take it to heart. 1 Sam. 4:20
And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel; because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband. 1 Sam. 4:21
And Saul said to David, Behold my eldest daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife; only be thou valiant for me, and fight Jehovah's battles. But Saul thought, My hand shall not be upon him, but the hand of the Philistines shall be upon him. 1 Sam. 18:17
And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be upon him. And Saul said to David, Thou shalt this day be my son-in-law a second time. 1 Sam. 18:21
And she said to her young men, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she did not tell her husband Nabal. 1 Sam. 25:19
And as she was riding on the ass, and coming down by the covert of the hill, behold, David and his men came down opposite to her; and she met them. 1 Sam. 25:20

And the servants of David came to Abigail to Carmel, and spoke to her, saying, David has sent us to thee, to take thee as his wife. 1 Sam. 25:40
And she arose and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thy handmaid be a bondwoman to wash the feet of the servants of my lord. 1 Sam. 25:41
And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that followed her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife. 1 Sam. 25:42
Then said Saul to his servants, Seek me a woman that has a spirit of Python, that I may go to her and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman who has a spirit of Python at En-dor. 1 Sam. 28:7
And Saul swore unto her by Jehovah, saying, As Jehovah liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. 1 Sam. 28:10
And the king said to her, Be not afraid; but what didst thou see? And the woman said to Saul, I saw a god ascending out of the earth. 1 Sam. 28:13
And he said to her, What is his form? And she said, An old man comes up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. 1 Sam. 28:14
And Ishbosheth sent, and took her from her husband, from Phaltiel the son of Laish. 2 Sam. 3:15
And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner to him, Go, return. And he returned. 2 Sam. 3:16
And as the ark of Jehovah came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before Jehovah; and she despised him in her heart. 2 Sam. 6:16

And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her; and she had purified herself from her uncleanness; and she returned to her house. 2 Sam. 11:4

And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David having a beautiful sister, whose name was Tamar, Amnon the son of David loved her. 2 Sam. 13:1
And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and it seemed difficult for Amnon to do the least thing to her. 2 Sam. 13:2
And Jonadab said to him, Lay thee down on thy bed and feign thyself sick; and when thy father comes to see thee, say to him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me food, and dress the food in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it from her hand. 2 Sam. 13:5
So Amnon lay down and feigned himself sick; and the king came to see him, and Amnon said to the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand. 2 Sam. 13:6
And Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he had lain down. And she took flour and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes. 2 Sam. 13:8
And Amnon said to Tamar, Bring the dish into the chamber, that I may eat of thy hand. And Tamar took the cakes that she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother. 2 Sam. 13:10
And she presented them to him to eat; and he took hold of her, and said to her, Come, lie with me, my sister. 2 Sam. 13:11
But he would not hearken to her voice, and was stronger than she, and humbled her and lay with her. 2 Sam. 13:14
And Amnon hated her with an exceeding great hatred, for the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, Arise, be gone. 2 Sam. 13:15
And she said to him, There is no cause for this evil in sending me away, which is greater than the other that thou didst to me. But he would not hearken to her. 2 Sam. 13:16
Then he called his young man that attended upon him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her. 2 Sam. 13:17
Now she had a vest of many colours upon her; for so were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. And his attendant brought her out, and bolted the door after her. 2 Sam. 13:18
And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her vest of many colours which was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went away, crying out as she went. 2 Sam. 13:19
And Absalom her brother said to her, Has Amnon thy brother been with thee? and now, my sister, be still: he is thy brother; take not this thing to heart. And Tamar remained, and that desolate, in her brother Absalom's house. 2 Sam. 13:20

And she came to the man of God to the mountain, and caught him by the feet; and Gehazi drew near to thrust her away; but the man of God said, Let her alone, for her soul is troubled within her, and Jehovah has hidden it from me, and has not told me. 2 Ki. 4:27
And the mother of the lad said, As Jehovah liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee! And he rose up and followed her. 2 Ki. 4:30
And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. And he called her; and she came to him. And he said, Take up thy son. 2 Ki. 4:36
And she came and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground; and she took up her son, and went out. 2 Ki. 4:37
And she said to her mistress, Oh, would that my lord were before the prophet that is in Samaria! then he would cure him of his leprosy. 2 Ki. 5:3
And the king said to her, What aileth thee? And she said, This woman said to me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to-day, and we will eat my son to-morrow. 2 Ki. 6:28
And we boiled my son, and ate him: and I said to her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him; and she has hidden her son. 2 Ki. 6:29
And the woman rose up, and did according to the saying of the man of God, and went, she and her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years. 2 Ki. 8:2
And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines; and she went forth to cry to the king for her house and for her land. 2 Ki. 8:3
And it came to pass as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life. 2 Ki. 8:5
And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the plot of Jizreel, and none shall bury her. And he opened the door and fled. 2 Ki. 9:10
And it came to pass when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he said, What peace, so long as the fornications of thy mother Jezebel and her sorceries are so many? 2 Ki. 9:22
And Jehu came to Jizreel; and Jezebel heard of it, and she put paint to her eyes, and decked her head, and looked out at the window. 2 Ki. 9:30

And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she rose up and destroyed all the royal seed. 2 Ki. 11:1
And he was with her hid in the house of Jehovah six years. And Athaliah reigned over the land. 2 Ki. 11:3
And she looked, and behold, the king stood on the dais, according to the custom, and the princes and the trumpeters were by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets. And Athaliah rent her garments and cried, Conspiracy! Conspiracy! 2 Ki. 11:14
And Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds that were set over the host, and said to them, Lead her forth without the ranks; and whosoever follows her, slay with the sword; for the priest said, Let her not be put to death in the house of Jehovah. 2 Ki. 11:15
And they made way for her, and she went by the way by which the horses entered the king's house, and there was she put to death. 2 Ki. 11:16
This is the word that Jehovah has spoken against him: The virgin-daughter of Zion despiseth thee, laugheth thee to scorn; The daughter of Jerusalem shaketh her head at thee. 2 Ki. 19:21
And Hilkijah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe: now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter of the town; and they spoke with her. 2 Ki. 22:14
And Caleb the son of Hezron had children by Azubah his wife, and by Jerioth: her sons are these: Jesher, and Shobab, and Ardon. 1 Chr. 2:18
And afterwards Hezron went to the daughter of Machir, the father of Gilead, and he took her when he was sixty years old; and she bore him Segub. 1 Chr. 2:21

to bring Vashti the queen before the king with the royal crown to shew the peoples and the princes her beauty; for she was of beautiful countenance. Esther 1:11
If it please the king, let a royal order go forth from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it may not pass, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate to another that is better than she; Esther 1:19
After these things, when the fury of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her. Esther 2:1
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter; for she had neither father nor mother -- and the maiden was fair and beautiful -- and when her father and mother were dead, Mordecai took her for his own daughter. Esther 2:7
And the maiden pleased him, and obtained favour before him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, and her portions, and the seven maidens selected to be given her, out of the king's house; and he removed her and her maids to the best place of the house of the women. Esther 2:9
Esther had not made known her people nor her birth; for Mordecai had charged her that she should not make it known. Esther 2:10
And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women's house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her. Esther 2:11
and thus came the maiden in unto the king), whatever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women to the king's house. Esther 2:13
In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, unto the custody of Shaashgaz, the king's chamberlain, keeper of the concubines. She came in to the king no more, unless the king delighted in her, and she were called by name. Esther 2:14
And when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, came to go in to the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained grace in the sight of all them that saw her. Esther 2:15
And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins, and he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti. Esther 2:17

-- Depart, depart, go out from thence, touch not what is unclean; go out of the midst of her, be ye clean, that bear the vessels of Jehovah. Isa. 52:11
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, but he opened not his mouth; he was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and was as a sheep dumb before her shearers, and he opened not his mouth. Isa. 53:7
I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with the priestly turban, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. Isa. 61:10
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as a garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord Jehovah will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. Isa. 61:11
For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not be still, until her righteousness go forth as brightness, and her salvation as a torch that burneth. Isa. 62:1
Thou shalt no more be termed, Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed, Desolate: but thou shalt be called, My delight is in her, and thy land, Married; for Jehovah delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. Isa. 62:4
But be glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create. For behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. Isa. 65:18
And I will rejoice over Jerusalem, and will joy in my people; and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. Isa. 65:19
Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man-child. Isa. 66:7
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Can a land be made to bring forth in one day? shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her sons. Isa. 66:8

because ye shall suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; because ye shall drink out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. Isa. 66:11
For thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing torrent; and ye shall suck, ye shall be carried upon the side, and be dandled upon the knees. Isa. 66:12
How sayest thou, I am not defiled, I have not gone after the Baals? See thy way in the valley, acknowledge what thou hast done -- a swift dromedary traversing her ways! Jer. 2:23
-- a wild ass, used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind in her desire! In her ardour, who shall turn her away? All they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her. Jer. 2:24
Doth a virgin forget her ornaments, a bride her attire? But my people have forgotten me days without number. Jer. 2:32
Thou shalt indeed go forth from her with thy hands upon thy head; for Jehovah hath rejected those thou confidest in, and thou shalt not prosper by them. Jer. 2:37
They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? Would not that land be utterly polluted? But thou hast committed fornication with many lovers; yet return to me, saith Jehovah. Jer. 3:1
And I said, After she hath done all these things, she will return unto me; but she returned not. And her sister Judah, the treacherous, saw it. Jer. 3:7
And I saw that when for all the causes wherein backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce, yet the treacherous Judah, her sister, feared not, but went and committed fornication also. Jer. 3:8
And it came to pass through the lightness of her fornication that she polluted the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. Jer. 3:9
And even for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not returned unto me with her whole heart, but with falsehood, saith Jehovah. Jer. 3:10
Surely as a woman treacherously departeth from her companion, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah. Jer. 3:20
As keepers of a field are they against her round about; for she hath been rebellious against me, saith Jehovah. Jer. 4:17
For I hear a voice, as of a woman in travail, anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion: she moaneth, she spreadeth forth her hands, saying, Woe unto me! for my soul faileth because of murderers. Jer. 4:31
Go up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end; take away her battlements, for they are not Jehovah's. Jer. 5:10
Shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place. Jer. 6:3
Prepare war against her. Arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day hath declined, for the shadows of the evening are lengthening. Jer. 6:4
Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces. Jer. 6:5
For thus hath Jehovah of hosts said: Hew ye down trees, and cast a mound against Jerusalem. She is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her. Jer. 6:6
As a well poureth forth her waters, so she poureth forth her wickedness: violence and destruction are heard in her; before me continually are grief and wounds. Jer. 6:7
Even a stork in the heavens knoweth her appointed times, and the turtle-dove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of Jehovah. Jer. 8:7
Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people, from a very far country: Is not Jehovah in Zion? Is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, with foreign vanities? Jer. 8:19
Hear then the word of Jehovah, ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and each one her companion lamentation. Jer. 9:20
I have forsaken my house, I have cast off my heritage, I have given the beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies. Jer. 12:7
My heritage is unto me as a speckled bird of prey; the birds of prey round about are against her. Go, assemble all the beasts of the field, bring them to devour. Jer. 12:9
Their widows are increased to me more than the sand of the seas; I have brought upon them, against the mother of the young men, a spoiler at noonday; I have caused anguish and terror to fall upon her suddenly. Jer. 15:8
She that hath borne seven languisheth, she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it is yet day; she is put to shame and confounded. And the residue of them will I give up to the sword before their enemies, saith Jehovah. Jer. 15:9
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her cities all the evil that I have spoken against it; for they have hardened their necks, not to hear my words. Jer. 19:15
because he slew me not from the womb. Or would that my mother had been my grave, and her womb always great with me! Jer. 20:17
And I will visit you according to the fruit of your doings, saith Jehovah; and I will kindle a fire in her forest, and it shall devour all that is round about her. Jer. 21:14
Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will turn the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his habitations; and the city shall be built upon her own heap; and the palace shall be inhabited after the manner thereof. Jer. 30:18
Behold, I bring them from the north country, and gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth; and among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great assemblage shall they return hither. Jer. 31:8
Thus saith Jehovah: A voice hath been heard in Ramah, the wail of very bitter weeping, -- Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children, because they are not. Jer. 31:15
but we will certainly do every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out drink-offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and we had plenty of bread, and were well, and saw no evil. Jer. 44:17
But since we left off burning incense to the queen of the heavens, and pouring out drink-offerings to her, we have wanted everything, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. Jer. 44:18
And when we burned incense to the queen of the heavens and poured out drink-offerings to her, did we make for her cakes to portray her, and pour out drink-offerings to her, without our husbands? Jer. 44:19
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hands, saying, We will certainly perform our vows which we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out drink-offerings unto her. Ye will certainly establish your vows, and entirely perform your vows. Jer. 44:25
Also her hired men in the midst of her are like fatted bullocks; for they also have turned back, they have fled away together, they did not stand; for the day of their calamity is come upon them, the time of their visitation. Jer. 46:21
Her voice shall go like a serpent's; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood. Jer. 46:22
They shall cut down her forest, saith Jehovah, though it be impenetrable; for they are more than the locusts, and are innumerable. Jer. 46:23
Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saith, Behold, I will punish Amon of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, and her gods, and her kings; yea, Pharaoh and them that confide in him. Jer. 46:25
Moab's praise is no more; in Heshbon they have devised evil against her: Come, and let us cut her off from being a nation. Thou also, O Madmen, shalt be cut down; the sword shall pursue thee. Jer. 48:2
Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard. Jer. 48:4
Stand by the way, and watch, inhabitress of Aroer; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth; say, What is done? Jer. 48:19
Leave the cities, and dwell in the rocks, ye inhabitants of Moab, and be like the dove, that maketh her nest in the sides of the cave's mouth. Jer. 48:28
Kerijoth is taken, and the strongholds are seized, and at that day the heart of the mighty men of Moab shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. Jer. 48:41
He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon her, upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith Jehovah. Jer. 48:44
Therefore behold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will cause the clamour of war to be heard in Rabbah of the children of Ammon; and it shall be a desolate heap; and her towns shall be burned with fire; and Israel shall possess them that possessed him, saith Jehovah. Jer. 49:2
Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys? Thy valley shall flow down, O backsliding daughter, that trusteth in her treasures, saying, Who shall come against me? Jer. 49:4
I have heard a rumour from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sent among the nations: -- Gather yourselves together, and come against her and rise up for the battle. Jer. 49:14
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of the Jordan against the strong habitation; for I will make them suddenly run away from it; and who is a chosen man whom I shall appoint over her? For who is like me? and who will assign me a time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me? Jer. 49:19
Behold, he shall come up, and fly as an eagle, and spread forth his wings against Bozrah; and at that day the heart of the mighty men of Edom shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. Jer. 49:22
Damascus is grown feeble: she turneth herself to flee, and terror hath seized on her; trouble and sorrows have taken hold of her as of a woman in travail. Jer. 49:24
Therefore shall her young men fall in her streets, and all the men of war be cut off in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts. Jer. 49:26
Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and lift up a banner; publish, conceal not! Say, Babylon is taken, Bel is put to shame, Merodach is dismayed: her images are put to shame, her idols are dismayed. Jer. 50:2
For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: both man and beast are fled; they are gone. Jer. 50:3
For behold, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon, an assemblage of great nations from the north country; and they shall set themselves in array against her: from thence shall she be taken. Their arrows shall be as those of a mighty expert man: none shall return empty. Jer. 50:9
Because of the wrath of Jehovah, it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate; every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and shall hiss, because of all her plagues. Jer. 50:13
Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about, all ye that bend the bow; shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against Jehovah. Jer. 50:14
Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand; her ramparts are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for this is the vengeance of Jehovah. Take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her. Jer. 50:15
Come ye against her from every quarter, open her storehouses; pile her up like sheaves, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left. Jer. 50:26
Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation. Jer. 50:27
Call together the archers against Babylon, all those that bend the bow: encamp against her round about; let there be no escaping: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath acted proudly against Jehovah, against the Holy One of Israel. Jer. 50:29
Therefore shall her young men fall in her streets; and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith Jehovah. Jer. 50:30
The sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith Jehovah, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men; Jer. 50:35
the sword is upon the liars, and they shall become fools; the sword is upon her mighty men, and they shall be dismayed; Jer. 50:36
the sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her, and they shall become as women; the sword is upon her treasures, and they shall be robbed: Jer. 50:37
a drought is upon her waters, and they shall be dried up; for it is a land of graven images, and they are mad after frightful idols. Jer. 50:38
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of the Jordan against the strong habitation; for I will make him suddenly run away from it; and who is a chosen man whom I may appoint over her? For who is like me? and who will assign me a time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me? Jer. 50:44
and I will send unto Babylon strangers, who shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about. Jer. 51:2
Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his coat of mail; and spare not her young men: destroy utterly all her host. Jer. 51:3
And the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets. Jer. 51:4
Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and save every man his life; be ye not cut off in her iniquity: for this is the time of Jehovah's vengeance: he shall render unto her a recompence. Jer. 51:6
Babylon hath been a golden cup in Jehovah's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunk of her wine; therefore have the nations become mad. Jer. 51:7
Babylon is suddenly fallen and ruined. Howl over her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed. Jer. 51:8
We have treated Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country; for her judgment reacheth unto the heavens, and is lifted up to the skies. Jer. 51:9
Lift up a banner in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare nations against her; call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the bristly caterpillars. Jer. 51:27
Prepare nations against her, the kings of the Medes, their governors and all their rulers, yea, all the land of their dominion. Jer. 51:28
The mighty men of Babylon have ceased to fight, they are sitting in the fortresses; their might hath failed, they are become as women: they have set her dwelling places on fire; her bars are broken. Jer. 51:30
For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing-floor, at the time of its being trodden; yet a little while, and the time of harvest shall come for her. Jer. 51:33
Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her spring dry. Jer. 51:36
Her cities are become a desolation, a dry land, and a desert, a land wherein no one dwelleth, neither doth a son of man pass thereby. Jer. 51:43
Go ye out of the midst of her, my people, and deliver every man his soul from the fierce anger of Jehovah! Jer. 51:45
Therefore behold, days are coming when I will punish the graven images of Babylon; and her whole land shall be put to shame, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her. Jer. 51:47
And the heavens and the earth, and all that is therein, shall shout aloud over Babylon; for out of the north the spoilers shall come against her, saith Jehovah. Jer. 51:48
-- Therefore behold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will punish her graven images; and throughout her land the wounded shall groan. Jer. 51:52
Though Babylon should mount up to the heavens, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith Jehovah. Jer. 51:53
for Jehovah spoileth Babylon, and he will destroy out of her the great voice; and their waves roar like great waters, the noise of their voice resoundeth. Jer. 51:55
For the spoiler is come against her, against Babylon, and her mighty men are taken; their bows are broken in pieces; for Jehovah, the *God of recompences, will certainly requite. Jer. 51:56
And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her governors, and her rulers, and her mighty men; and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is Jehovah of hosts. Jer. 51:57
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly laid bare, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; so that the peoples will have laboured in vain, and the nations for the fire: and they shall be weary. Jer. 51:58
She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she hath no comforter; all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies. Lam. 1:2
Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude; she dwelleth among the nations, she findeth no rest: all her pursuers have overtaken her within the straits. Lam. 1:3
The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn assembly: all her gates are desolate; her priests sigh, her virgins are in grief; and as for her, she is in bitterness. Lam. 1:4
Her adversaries have become the head, her enemies prosper; for Jehovah hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the adversary. Lam. 1:5
And from the daughter of Zion all her splendour is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture; and they are gone without strength before the pursuer. Lam. 1:6
In the days of her affliction and of her wanderings, since her people fell into the hand of an adversary, and none did help her, Jerusalem remembereth all her precious things which she had in the days of old: the adversaries have seen her, they mock at her ruin. Lam. 1:7
Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore is she removed as an impurity: all that honoured her despise her because they have seen her nakedness; and she sigheth, and turneth backward. Lam. 1:8
Her impurity was in her skirts, she remembered not her latter end; and she came down wonderfully: she hath no comforter. Jehovah, behold my affliction; for the enemy hath magnified himself. Lam. 1:9
The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her precious things; for she hath seen the nations enter into her sanctuary, concerning whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation. Lam. 1:10
All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their precious things for food to revive their soul. See, Jehovah, and consider, for I am become vile. Lam. 1:11
Zion spreadeth forth her hands; there is none to comfort her; Jehovah hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him; Jerusalem is as an impurity among them. Lam. 1:17
The Lord is become as an enemy: he hath swallowed up Israel; he hath swallowed up all her palaces; he hath destroyed his strongholds, and hath multiplied in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation. Lam. 2:5
The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath rejected his sanctuary; he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces: they have made a noise in the house of Jehovah, as on the day of a set feast. Lam. 2:7
Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars. Her king and her princes are among the nations: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from Jehovah. Lam. 2:9
All thine enemies open their mouth against thee, they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed her up; this is forsooth the day that we looked for: we have found, we have seen it. Lam. 2:16
And the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the reward of the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands were violently laid upon her. Lam. 4:6
Her Nazarites were purer than snow, whiter than milk; they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their figure was as sapphire. Lam. 4:7
It is for the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, who have shed the blood of the righteous in the midst of her. Lam. 4:13
Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: This is Jerusalem: I have set her in the midst of the nations, and the countries are round about her. Ezek. 5:5
And she hath rebelled against my judgments in wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for mine ordinances have they refused; and my statutes, they have not walked in them. Ezek. 5:6
and say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink their water with astonishment, because her land shall be left desolate of all that is in it, for the violence of all them that dwell therein. Ezek. 12:19
the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see a vision of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord Jehovah. Ezek. 13:16
Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, Ezek. 16:2
O adulterous wife, that taketh strangers instead of her husband. Ezek. 16:32
Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall speak in a proverb against thee, saying, As the mother, so is her daughter! Ezek. 16:44
Thou art the daughter of thy mother that loathed her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite. Ezek. 16:45
And thine elder sister is Samaria that dwelleth at thy left hand, she and her daughters; and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters. Ezek. 16:46
As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters! Ezek. 16:48
Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and careless ease was in her and in her daughters, but she did not strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. Ezek. 16:49
And I will bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them; Ezek. 16:53
And thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate; thou also and thy daughters, ye shall return to your former estate. Ezek. 16:55
before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, who despise thee on every side. Ezek. 16:57
And there was another great eagle with great wings and many feathers; and behold, from the beds of her plantation, this vine did bend her roots unto him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it. Ezek. 17:7

and say, What was thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps in the midst of the young lions. Ezek. 19:2

Son of man, say unto her, Thou art a land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation. Ezek. 22:24
There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst of her like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they devour souls; they take away treasure and precious things; they increase her widows in the midst of her; Ezek. 22:25
her priests do violence to my law, and profane my holy things: they put no difference between the holy and profane, neither do they make known the difference between the unclean and the clean, and they hide their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. Ezek. 22:26
Her princes in the midst of her are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. Ezek. 22:27
And her prophets have daubed for them with untempered mortar, seeing vanity and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah! and Jehovah hath not spoken. Ezek. 22:28
And their names were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister; and they were mine, and they bore sons and daughters. As for their names: Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah. Ezek. 23:4
And Oholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she lusted after her lovers, after the Assyrians her neighbours, Ezek. 23:5
And she bestowed her whoredoms upon them, all of them the choice of the children of Asshur; and with all after whom she lusted, with all their idols she defiled herself. Ezek. 23:7
Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt; for in her youth they had lain with her, and had handled the breasts of her virginity, and poured their fornication upon her. Ezek. 23:8
Therefore I gave her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the children of Asshur, after whom she lusted. Ezek. 23:9
These discovered her nakedness, they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword; and she became a name among women; and they executed judgment upon her. Ezek. 23:10
And her sister Oholibah saw this, and was more corrupt in her passion than she, and in her fornications more than the whoredoms of her sister. Ezek. 23:11
She lusted after the children of Asshur her neighbours, governors and rulers, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them attractive young men. Ezek. 23:12
And she increased her fornications; for she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, Ezek. 23:14
And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she lusted after them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea. Ezek. 23:16
And the children of Babylon came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their fornication; she too defiled herself with them, and her soul was alienated from them. Ezek. 23:17
And she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness; and my soul was alienated from her, like as my soul was alienated from her sister. Ezek. 23:18
Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she played the harlot in the land of Egypt; Ezek. 23:19
Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; and I have given her cup into thy hand. Ezek. 23:31
And the voice of a multitude living carelessly was with her; and with people of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, and they put bracelets upon their hands, and a beautiful crown upon their heads. Ezek. 23:42
And I said of her that was old in adulteries, Will she now commit her fornications, even she. Ezek. 23:43
And they went in unto her, as they go in unto a whorish woman: so went they in unto Oholah and unto Oholibah the lewd women. Ezek. 23:44
for her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust. Ezek. 24:7
That it might cause fury to come up to execute vengeance, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered. Ezek. 24:8
She hath exhausted her labours, yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her: let her rust be in the fire. Ezek. 24:12
And they shall destroy the walls of Tyre, and break down her towers. And I will scrape her dust from her, and make her a bare rock. Ezek. 26:4
And her daughters that are in the field shall be slain by the sword; and they shall know that I am Jehovah. Ezek. 26:6
And they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How hast thou perished, that wast inhabited from the seas, O renowned city, which wast strong in the sea, -- she and her inhabitants, who caused their terror to be on all them that dwell therein! Ezek. 26:17
And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, Who is like Tyre, like her that is destroyed in the midst of the sea? Ezek. 27:32
and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, Zidon, and I will be glorified in the midst of thee; and they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be hallowed in her. Ezek. 28:22
And I will send into her the pestilence, and blood in her streets; and the wounded shall fall in the midst of her, by the sword upon her on every side: and they shall know that I am Jehovah. Ezek. 28:23
And I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of the countries that are desolated, and her cities shall be, in the midst of the cities that are laid waste, a desolation forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries. Ezek. 29:12
Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall carry away her multitude, and seize her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army. Ezek. 29:19
And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and there shall be anguish in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be overthrown. Ezek. 30:4
Thus saith Jehovah: They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her strength shall come down: from Migdol to Syene shall they fall in her by the sword, saith the Lord Jehovah. Ezek. 30:6
And they shall be desolated in the midst of the countries that are desolated, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted. Ezek. 30:7
And they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and all her helpers shall be broken. Ezek. 30:8
And at Tehaphnehes the day shall be darkened, when I break there the yokes of Egypt, and the pride of her strength shall cease in her; as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity. Ezek. 30:18
And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heavens, and make the stars thereof black; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. Ezek. 32:7
It is a lamentation, and thus they shall lament her: the daughters of the nations shall say it in lamenting; they shall say it in lamenting over Egypt and over all her multitude, saith the Lord Jehovah. Ezek. 32:16
Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, her and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the lower parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit. Ezek. 32:18
They shall fall in the midst of them that are slain by the sword. The sword hath been given: draw her out, and all her multitudes. Ezek. 32:20
There is Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who are gone down uncircumcised unto the lower parts of the earth, who caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their confusion with them that go down to the pit. Ezek. 32:24
There is Edom, her kings, and all her princes, who in their might are laid with them that are slain by the sword: they lie with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the pit. Ezek. 32:29
And I will make the land a desolation and an astonishment, and the pride of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolated, so that none shall pass through. Ezek. 33:28
Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a woman in her separation. Ezek. 36:17
As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her set feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am Jehovah. Ezek. 36:38
And they shall not take for their wives a widow, nor her that is put away; but they shall take maidens of the seed of the house of Israel, or a widow that is the widow of a priest. Ezek. 44:22
And after the course of years they shall join affinity; and the king's daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make equitable conditions: but she shall not retain the strength of her arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm; and she shall be given up, she and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in those times. But out of a shoot from her roots shall one stand up in his place, who shall come to the army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shew himself mighty. Dan. 11:7
And he shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; and he shall practise; and he shall give him the daughter of women, to corrupt her; but she shall not stand, neither shall she be for him. Dan. 11:17

Plead with your mother, plead; for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: and let her put away her whoredoms from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts; Hos. 2:2
lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her as a dry land, and slay her with thirst. Hos. 2:3
And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they are the children of whoredoms. Hos. 2:4
Therefore behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns; and I will fence her in with a wall, that she shall not find her paths. Hos. 2:6
And she shall pursue after her lovers, and shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, and shall not find them: and she shall say, I will go and return to my first husband, for then was it better with me than now. Hos. 2:7
And she did not know that I had given her the corn and the new wine and the oil, and had multiplied to her the silver and gold, which they employed for Baal. Hos. 2:8
Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my new wine in its season, and will withdraw my wool and my flax which should have covered her nakedness. Hos. 2:9
And now will I discover her impiety in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of my hand. Hos. 2:10
And I will cause all her mirth to cease: her feasts, her new moons, and her sabbaths! and all her solemnities. Hos. 2:11
And I will make desolate her vine and her fig-tree, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards which my lovers have given me; and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them. Hos. 2:12
And I will visit upon her the days of the Baals, wherein she burned incense to them, and decked herself with her rings and jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgot me, saith Jehovah. Hos. 2:13
Therefore behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak to her heart. Hos. 2:14
And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. Hos. 2:15
for I will take away the names of the Baals out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name. Hos. 2:17
And I will sow her unto me in the land; and I will have mercy upon Lo-ruhamah; and I will say to Lo-ammi, Thou art my people; and they shall say, My God. Hos. 2:23
So I bought her to me for fifteen silver pieces, and for a homer of barley, and a half-homer of barley. Hos. 3:2
And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be another man's, and I will also be for thee. Hos. 3:3
Their drink is sour; they give themselves up to whoredom; her great men passionately love their shame. Hos. 4:18
The wind hath wrapped her up in its wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices. Hos. 4:19
The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail her. Hos. 9:2
As for Samaria her king is cut off as chips upon the face of the waters. Hos. 10:7
And Ephraim is a trained heifer, that loveth to tread out the corn; I have passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to draw; Judah shall plough, Jacob shall break his clods. Hos. 10:11
I will meet them as a bear bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the covering of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lioness: the beast of the field shall tear them. Hos. 13:8
* Samaria shall bear her guilt; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. Hos. 13:16
Wail like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth. Joel 1:8
gather the people, hallow the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride from her closet. Joel 2:16
And ye shall know that I, Jehovah, am your God, dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain; and Jerusalem shall be holy, and no strangers shall pass through her any more. Joel 3:17
Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great uproar in the midst thereof, and the oppressions that are within her: Amos 3:9
and ye shall go out by the breaches, every one straight before her, and ye shall be cast out to Harmon, saith Jehovah. Amos 4:3
The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more arise: she is cast down upon her land; there is none to raise her up. Amos 5:2
* The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning Edom: We have heard a report from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sent among the nations. Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle. Oba. 1:1
And all her graven images shall be beaten to pieces, and all her harlot-gifts shall be burned with fire, and all her idols will I make a desolation; for of the hire of a harlot hath she gathered them, and to a harlot's hire shall they return. Mic. 1:7
For her wounds are incurable; for it is come even unto Judah, it reacheth unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem. Mic. 1:9
In that day, saith Jehovah, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; Mic. 4:6
and I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation; and Jehovah shall reign over them in mount Zion, from henceforth even for ever. Mic. 4:7
And now many nations are assembled against thee, that say, Let her be profaned, and let our eye look upon Zion. Mic. 4:11
For her rich men are full of violence, and her inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth. Mic. 6:12
Believe ye not in a companion, put not confidence in a familiar friend: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. Mic. 7:5
For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law: a man's enemies are the men of his own household. Mic. 7:6

This is the rejoicing city that dwelt in security, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none else beside me: how is she become a desolation, a couching-place for beasts! Every one that passeth by her shall hiss, shall wave his hand. Zeph. 2:15
Woe to her that is rebellious and corrupted, to the oppressing city! Zeph. 3:1
She hearkened not to the voice; she received not correction; she confided not in Jehovah; she drew not near her God. Zeph. 3:2
Her princes in the midst of her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves, that leave nothing for the morning. Zeph. 3:3
Her prophets are vain-glorious, treacherous persons; her priests profane the sanctuary, they do violence to the law. Zeph. 3:4
The righteous Jehovah is in the midst of her: he doeth no wrong. Every morning doth he bring his judgment to light; it faileth not: but the unrighteous knoweth no shame. Zeph. 3:5
I said, Only fear me, receive correction; so her dwelling shall not be cut off, howsoever I may punish her. But they rose early, they corrupted all their doings. Zeph. 3:7
Behold, at that time I will deal with all them that afflict thee; and I will save her that halted, and gather her that was driven out; and I will make them a praise and a name in all the lands where they have been put to shame. Zeph. 3:19
and I, saith Jehovah, I will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. Zech. 2:5
And he said, This is Wickedness: and he cast her into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. Zech. 5:8
Are not these the words that Jehovah cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and at peace, and her cities round about her, when the south and the lowland were inhabited? Zech. 7:7

And it came to pass, as Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, Lk. 1:41
And blessed is she that has believed, for there shall be a fulfilment of the things spoken to her from the Lord. Lk. 1:45
And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her house. Lk. 1:56

And a woman who had a flux of blood since twelve years, who, having spent all her living on physicians, could not be cured by any one, Lk. 8:43

Jesus therefore, when he saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, was deeply moved in spirit, and was troubled, Jn. 11:33
Jesus says to her, Did I not say to thee, that if thou shouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? Jn. 11:40

A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world. Jn. 16:21

Now not only there is danger for us that our business come into discredit, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis be counted for nothing, and that her greatness should be destroyed whom the whole of Asia and the world reveres. Acts 19:27
and having sighted Cyprus, and left it on the left hand, we sailed to Syria, and made the land at Tyre, for there the ship was to discharge her cargo. Acts 21:3

Let the husband render her due to the wife, and in like manner the wife to the husband. 1 Cor. 7:3
The wife has not authority over her own body, but the husband: in like manner also the husband has not authority over his own body, but the wife. 1 Cor. 7:4
(but if also she shall have been separated, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband;) and let not husband leave wife. 1 Cor. 7:11
But as to the rest, *I* say, not the Lord, If any brother have an unbelieving wife, and *she* consent to dwell with him, let him not leave her. 1 Cor. 7:12
And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to dwell with her, let her not leave her husband. 1 Cor. 7:13
There is a difference between the wife and the virgin. The unmarried cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but she that has married cares for the things of the world, how she shall please her husband. 1 Cor. 7:34
A wife is bound for whatever time her husband lives; but if the husband be fallen asleep, she is free to be married to whom she will, only in the Lord. 1 Cor. 7:39
But every woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered puts her own head to shame; for it is one and the same as a shaved woman. 1 Cor. 11:5
For if a woman be not covered, let her hair also be cut off. But if it be shameful to a woman to have her hair cut off or to be shaved, let her be covered. 1 Cor. 11:6
Therefore ought the woman to have authority on her head, on account of the angels. 1 Cor. 11:10
But woman, if she have long hair, it is glory to her; for the long hair is given to her in lieu of a veil. 1 Cor. 11:15
For Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which is now, for she is in bondage with her children; Gal. 4:25
For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break out and cry, thou that travailest not; because the children of the desolate are more numerous than those of her that has a husband. Gal. 4:27
But what says the scripture? Cast out the maid servant and her son; for the son of the maid servant shall not inherit with the son of the free woman. Gal. 4:30

And she brought forth a male son, who shall shepherd all the nations with an iron rod; and her child was caught up to God and to his throne. Rev. 12:5
And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has there a place prepared of God, that they should nourish her there a thousand two hundred and sixty days. Rev. 12:6

because all the nations have drunk of the wine of the fury of her fornication; and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have been enriched through the might of her luxury. Rev. 18:3
And I heard another voice out of the heaven saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye have not fellowship in her sins, and that ye do not receive of her plagues: Rev. 18:4
for her sins have been heaped on one another up to the heaven, and God has remembered her unrighteousnesses. Rev. 18:5
Recompense her even as she has recompensed; and double to her double, according to her works. In the cup which she has mixed, mix to her double. Rev. 18:6
So much as she has glorified herself and lived luxuriously, so much torment and grief give to her. Because she says in her heart, I sit a queen, and I am not a widow; and I shall in no wise see grief: Rev. 18:7
for this reason in one day shall her plagues come, death and grief and famine, and she shall be burnt with fire; for strong is the Lord God who has judged her. Rev. 18:8
And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication, and lived luxuriously with her, shall weep and wail over her, when they see the smoke of her burning, Rev. 18:9
standing afar off, through fear of her torment, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! for in one hour thy judgment is come. Rev. 18:10
And the merchants of the earth weep and grieve over her, because no one buys their lading any more; Rev. 18:11
The merchants of these things, who had been enriched through her, shall stand afar off through fear of her torment, weeping and grieving, Rev. 18:15
and cried, seeing the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like to the great city? Rev. 18:18
and cast dust upon their heads, and cried, weeping and grieving, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, in which all that had ships in the sea were enriched through her costliness! for in one hour she has been made desolate. Rev. 18:19
Rejoice over her, heaven, and ye saints and apostles and prophets; for God has judged your judgment upon her. Rev. 18:20
And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all the slain upon the earth. Rev. 18:24
for true and righteous are his judgments; for he has judged the great harlot which corrupted the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his bondmen at her hand. Rev. 19:2
And a second time they said, Hallelujah. And her smoke goes up to the ages of ages. Rev. 19:3
And it was given to her that she should be clothed in fine linen, bright and pure; for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the saints. Rev. 19:8
