- And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the contention of the children of Israel, and because they had tempted Jehovah, saying, Is Jehovah among us, or not? Ex. 17:7
- These are the waters of Meribah, where the children of Israel contended with Jehovah, and he hallowed himself in them. Num. 20:13
