But if forthwith he gainsay it, she shall not be bound by the promise: because her husband gainsaid it, and the Lord will be merciful to her. Num. 30:12
If she vow and bind herself by oath, to afflict her soul by fasting, or abstinence from other things, it shall depend on the will of her husband, whether she shall do it, or not do it. Num. 30:13

And she desired leave to glean the ears of corn that remain, following the steps of the reapers: and she hath been in the field from morning till now, and hath not gone home for one moment. Ruth 2:7
She fell on her face, and worshipping upon the ground, said to him: Whence cometh this to me, that I should find grace before thy eyes, and that thou shouldst vouchsafe to take notice of me, a woman of another country? Ruth 2:10
And she said: I have found grace in thy eyes, my lord, who hast comforted me, and hast spoken to the heart of thy handmaid, who am not like to one of thy maids. Ruth 2:13
And Booz said to her: At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. So she sat at the side of the reapers, and she heaped to herself frumenty, and ate and was filled, and took the leavings. Ruth 2:14
And she arose from thence, to glean the ears of corn as before. And Booz commanded his servants, saying: If she would even reap with you, hinder her not: Ruth 2:15
And let fall some of your handfuls of purpose, and leave them, that she may gather them without shame, and let no man rebuke her when she gathereth them. Ruth 2:16
She gleaned therefore in the field till evening: and beating out with a rod, and threshing what she had gleaned, she found about the measure of an ephi of barley, that is, three bushels: Ruth 2:17
Which she took up, and returned into the city, and shewed it to her mother in law: moreover, she brought out, and gave her of the remains of her meat, wherewith she had been filled. Ruth 2:18
And her mother in law said to her: Where hast thou gleaned today, and where hast thou wrought? blessed be he that hath had pity on thee. And she told her with whom she had wrought: and she told the man's name, that he was called Booz. Ruth 2:19
And Noemi answered her: Blessed be he of the Lord: because the same kindness which he shewed to the living, he hath kept also to the dead. And again she said: The man is our kinsman. Ruth 2:20
So she kept close to the maids of Booz: and continued to glean with them, till all the barley and the wheat were laid up in the barns. Ruth 2:23
¤ After she was returned to her mother in law, Noemi said to her: My daughter, I will seek rest for thee, and will provide that it may be well with thee. Ruth 3:1
She answered: Whatsoever thou shalt command, I will do. Ruth 3:5
And she went down to the barnfloor, and did all that her mother in law had bid her. Ruth 3:6
And when Booz had eaten, and drunk, and was merry, he went to sleep by the heap of sheaves, and she came softly, and uncovering his feet, laid herself down. Ruth 3:7
And he said to her: Who art thou ? And she answered: I am Ruth, thy handmaid: spread thy coverlet over thy servant, for thou art a near kinsman. Ruth 3:9
So she slept at his feet till the night was going off. And she arose before men could know one another, and Booz said: Beware lest any man know that thou camest hither. Ruth 3:14
And again he said: Spread thy mantle, wherewith thou art covered, and hold it with both hands. And when she spread it and held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it upon her. And she carried it, and went into the city, Ruth 3:15
And came to her mother in law; who said to her: What hast thou done, daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her. Ruth 3:16
And she said: Behold he hath given me six measures of barley: for he said: I will not have thee return empty to thy mother in law. Ruth 3:17
Then all the people that were in the gate, and the ancients, answered: We are witnesses: The Lord make this woman who cometh into thy house, like Rachel, and Lia, who built up the house of Israel: that she may be an example of virtue in Ephrata, and may have a famous name in Bethlehem: Ruth 4:11
And Noemi taking the child, laid it in her bosom, and she carried it, and was a nurse unto it. Ruth 4:16
Her rival also afflicted her, and troubled her exceedingly, insomuch that she upbraided her, that the Lord had shut up her womb: 1 Ki. 1:6
And thus she did every year, when the time returned, that they went up to the temple of the Lord: and thus she provoked her: but Anna wept, and did not eat. 1 Ki. 1:7
So Anna arose after she had eaten and drunk in Silo: And Heli, the priest, sitting upon a stool before the door of the temple of the Lord; 1 Ki. 1:9
As Anna had her heart full of grief, she prayed to the Lord, shedding many tears, 1 Ki. 1:10
And she made a vow, saying: O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt look down on the affliction of thy servant, and wilt be mindful of me, and not forget thy handmaid, and wilt give to thy servant a manchild: I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head. 1 Ki. 1:11
And it came to pass, as she multiplied prayers before the Lord, that Heli observed her mouth. 1 Ki. 1:12
And she said: Would to God thy handmaid may find grace in thy eyes. So the woman went on her way, and ate, and her countenance was no more changed. 1 Ki. 1:18
And it came to pass when the time was come about, Anna conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel: because she had asked him of the Lord. 1 Ki. 1:20
But Anna went not up: for she said to her husband: I will not go till the child be weaned, and till I may carry him, that he may appear before the Lord, and may abide always there. 1 Ki. 1:22
And Elcana, her husband, said to her: Do what seemeth good to thee, and stay till thou wean him: and I pray that the Lord may fulfil his word. So the woman stayed at home, and gave her son suck, till she weaned him. 1 Ki. 1:23
And after she had weaned him, she carried him with her, with three calves, and three bushels of flour, and a bottle of wine, and she brought him to the house of the Lord in Silo. Now the child was as yet very young: 1 Ki. 1:24
They that were full before, have hired out themselves for bread: and the hungry are filled, so that the barren hath borne many: and she that had many children is weakened. 1 Ki. 2:5

Then Bethsabee came to king Solomon, to speak to him for Adonias: and the king arose to meet her, and bowed to her, and sat down upon his throne: and a throne was set for the king's mother, and she sat on his right hand. 3 Ki. 2:19
And she said to him: I desire one small petition of thee; do not put me to confusion. And the king said to her: My mother ask, for I must not turn away thy face. 3 Ki. 2:20
And she said: Let Abisag, the Sunamitess, be given to Adonias, thy brother, to wife. 3 Ki. 2:21
And the third day after that I was delivered, she also was delivered; and we were together, and no other person with us in the house; only we two. 3 Ki. 3:18
And this woman's child died in the night: for in her sleep she overlaid him. 3 Ki. 3:19
And rising in the dead time of the night, she took my child from my side, while I, thy handmaid, was asleep, and laid it in her bosom: and laid her dead child in my bosom. 3 Ki. 3:20
And the other woman answered: It is not so as thou sayest, but thy child is dead, and mine is alive. On the contrary, she said; Thou liest: for my child liveth, and thy child is dead. And in this manner they strove before the king. 3 Ki. 3:22
The king answered, and said: Give the living child to this woman, and let it not be killed; for she is the mother thereof. 3 Ki. 3:27
And entering into Jerusalem with a great train, and riches, and camels that carried spices, and an immense quantity of gold, and precious stones, she came to king Solomon, and spoke to him all that she had in her heart. 3 Ki. 10:2
And Solomon informed her of all the things she proposed to him: there was not any word the king was ignorant of, and which he could not answer her. 3 Ki. 10:3
And the meat of his table, and the apartments of his servants, and the order of his ministers, and their apparel, and the cupbearers, and the holocausts, which he offered in the house of the Lord, she had no longer any spirit in her; 3 Ki. 10:5
And she said to the king: The report is true, which I heard in my own country, 3 Ki. 10:6
And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices a very great store, and precious stones: there was brought no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Saba gave to king Solomon. 3 Ki. 10:10
And king Solomon gave the queen of Saba all that she desired, and asked of him: besides what he offered her of himself of his royal bounty. And she returned, and went to her own country, with her servants. 3 Ki. 10:13
And the Lord said to Ahias: Behold the wife of Jeroboam cometh in, to consult thee concerning her son, that is sick: thus and thus shalt thou speak to her. So when she was coming in, and made as if she were another woman, 3 Ki. 14:5
And the wife of Jeroboam arose, and departed, and came to Thersa: and when she was coming in to the threshold of the house, the child died, 3 Ki. 14:17
Moreover, he also removed his mother, Maacha, from being the princess in the sacrifices of Priapus, and in the grove which she had consecrated to him: and he destroyed her den, and broke in pieces the filthy idol, and burnt it by the torrent Cedron: 3 Ki. 15:13
And when she was going to fetch it, he called after her, saying: Bring me also, I beseech thee, a morsel of bread in thy hand. 3 Ki. 17:11
And she answered: As the Lord thy God liveth, I have no bread, but only a handful of meal in a pot, and a little oil in a cruise: behold I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it, for me and my son, that we may eat it and die. 3 Ki. 17:12
She went, and did according to the word of Elias: and he ate, and she, and her house: and from that day 3 Ki. 17:15
And she said to Elias: What have I to do with thee, thou man of God? art thou come to me, that my iniquities should be remembered, and that thou shouldst kill my son? 3 Ki. 17:18
So she wrote letters in Achab's name, and sealed them with his ring, and sent them to the ancients, and the chief men that were in his city, and that dwelt with Naboth. 3 Ki. 21:8
And the men of his city, the ancients and nobles, that dwelt with him in the city, did as Jezabel had commanded them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them; 3 Ki. 21:11
And it came to pass, when Jezabel heard that Naboth was stoned, and dead, that she said to Achab: Arise, and take possession of the vineyard of Naboth, the Jezrahelite, who would not agree with thee, and give it thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead. 3 Ki. 21:15
And Eliseus said to her: What wilt thou have me do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in thy house? And she answered: I, thy handmaid, have nothing in my house but a little oil, to anoint me. 4 Ki. 4:2
So the woman went, and shut the door upon her, and upon her sons: they brought her the vessels, and she poured in. 4 Ki. 4:5
And when the vessels were full, she said to her son: Bring me yet a vessel. And he answered: I have no more. And the oil stood. 4 Ki. 4:6
And she came, and told the man of God. And he said: Go, sell the oil, and pay thy creditor: and thou and thy sons live of the rest. 4 Ki. 4:7
And she said to her husband: I perceive that this is a holy man of God, who often passeth by us. 4 Ki. 4:9
And he said to Giezi, his servant: Call this Sunamitess. And when he had called her, and she stood before him, 4 Ki. 4:12
He said to his servant: Say to her: Behold, thou hast diligently served us in all things; what wilt thou have me to do for thee? Hast thou any business, and wilt thou, that I speak to the king, or to the general of the army? And she answered: I dwell in the midst of my own people. 4 Ki. 4:13
And he said: What will she then that I do for her? And Giezi said: Do not ask, for she hath no son, and her husband is old. 4 Ki. 4:14
Then he bid him call her. And when she was called, and stood before the door, 4 Ki. 4:15
He said to her: At this time, and this same hour, if life be in company, thou shalt have a son in thy womb. But she answered: Do not, I beseech thee, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie to thy handmaid. 4 Ki. 4:16
And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, she sat him on her knees, until noon, and then he died. 4 Ki. 4:20
And she went up, and laid him upon the bed of the man of God, and shut the door: and going out, 4 Ki. 4:21
She called her husband, and said: Send with me, I beseech thee, one of thy servants, and an ass, that I may run to the man of God, and come again. 4 Ki. 4:22
And he said to her: Why dost thou go to him? to day is neither new moon nor sabbath. She answered: I will go. 4 Ki. 4:23
And she saddled an ass, and commanded her servant: Drive, and make haste, make no stay in going: And do that which I bid thee. 4 Ki. 4:24
So she went forward, and came to the man of God, to mount Carmel: and when the man of God saw her coming towards, he said to Giezi, his servant: Behold that Sunamitess. 4 Ki. 4:25
Go, therefore, to meet her, and say to her: Is all well with thee, and with thy husband, and with thy son? And she answered: Well. 4 Ki. 4:26
And when she came to the man of God, to the mount, she caught hold on his feet: and Giezi came to remove her. And the man of God said: Let her alone for her soul is in anguish, and the Lord hath hid it from me, and hath not told me. 4 Ki. 4:27
And she said to him: Did I ask a son of my lord? did I not say to thee: Do not deceive me? 4 Ki. 4:28
And he called Giezi, and said to him: Call this Sunamitess. And she being called, went in to him: and he said: Take up thy son. 4 Ki. 4:36
She came and fell at his feet, and worshipped upon the ground: and took up her son, and went out. 4 Ki. 4:37
Now there had gone out robbers from Syria, and had led away captive out of the land of Israel, a little maid, and she waited upon Naaman's wife. 4 Ki. 5:2

¤ And when they were gone, Judith went into her oratory: and putting on haircloth, laid ashes on her head: and falling down prostrate before the Lord, she cried to the Lord, saying: Jud. 9:1
¤ And it came to pass, when she had ceased to cry to the Lord, that she rose from the place wherein she lay prostrate before the Lord. Jud. 10:1
And she called her maid, and going down into her house she took off her haircloth, and put away the garments of her widowhood, Jud. 10:2
And she washed her body, and anointed herself with the best ointment, and plaited the hair of her head, and put a bonnet upon her head, and clothed herself with the garments of her gladness, and put sandals on her feet, and took her bracelets, and lilies, and earlets, and rings, and adorned herself with all her ornaments. Jud. 10:3
And the Lord also gave her more beauty: because all this dressing up did not proceed from sensuality, but from virtue: and therefore the Lord increased this her beauty, so that she appeared to all men's eyes incomparably lovely. Jud. 10:4
And she gave to her maid a bottle of wine to carry, and a vessel of oil, and parched corn, and dry figs, and bread and cheese, and went out. Jud. 10:5
But Judith praying to the Lord, passed through the gates, she and her maid. Jud. 10:10
And it came to pass, when she went down the hill, about break of day, that the watchmen of the Assyrians met her, and stopped her, saying: Whence comest thou or whither goest thou? Jud. 10:11
And she answered: I am a daughter of the Hebrews, and I am fled from them, because I knew they would be made a prey to you, because they despised you, and would not of their own accord yield themselves, that they might find mercy in your sight. Jud. 10:12
And when she was come into his presence, forthwith Holofernes was caught by his eyes. Jud. 10:17
After she had looked on his face, bowed down to him, prostrating herself to the ground. And the servants of Holofernes lifted her up, by the command of their master. Jud. 10:20
¤ Then he ordered that she should go in where his treasures were laid up, and bade her tarry there, and he appointed what should be given her from his own table. Jud. 12:1
And when she was going in, she desired that she might have liberty to go out at night and before day to prayer, and to beseech the Lord. Jud. 12:5
And he commanded his chamberlains, that she might go out and in, to adore her God as she pleased, for three days. Jud. 12:6
And she went out in the nights into the valley of Bethulia, and washed herself in a fountain of water. Jud. 12:7
And as she came up, she prayed to the Lord the God of Israel, that he would direct her way to the deliverance of his people. Jud. 12:8
And going in, she remained pure in the tent, until she took her own meat in the evening. Jud. 12:9
Then Vagao went in to Judith, and said: Let not my good maid be afraid to go in to my lord, that she may be honoured before his face, that she may eat with him and drink wine and be merry. Jud. 12:12
And she arose and dressed herself out with her garments, and going in she stood before his face. Jud. 12:15
And she took and ate and drank before him what her maid had prepared for her. Jud. 12:19
And when she had said this, she went to the pillar that was at his bed's head, and loosed his sword that hung tied upon it. Jud. 13:8
And when she had drawn it out, she took him by the hair of his head, and said: Strengthen me, O Lord God, at this hour. Jud. 13:9
And she struck twice upon his neck, and cut off his head, and took off his canopy from the pillars, and rolled away his headless body. Jud. 13:10
And after a while she went out, and delivered the head of Holofernes to her maid, and bade her put it into her wallet. Jud. 13:11
And all ran to meet her from the least to the greatest: for they now had no hopes that she would come. Jud. 13:15
And lighting up lights they all gathered round about her: and she went up to a higher place, and commanded silence to be made. And when all had held their peace, Jud. 13:16
Then she brought forth the head of Holofernes out of the wallet, and shewed it them, saying: Behold the head of Holofernes the general of the army of the Assyrians, and behold his canopy, wherein he lay in his drunkenness, where the Lord our God slew him by the hand of a woman. Jud. 13:19
And when she was come out to him, they all blessed her with one voice, saying: Thou art the glory of Jerusalem, thou art the joy of Israel, thou art the honour of our people: Jud. 15:10
For she put off her the garments of widowhood, and put on her the garments of joy, to give joy to the children of Israel. Jud. 16:9
She anointed her face with ointment, and bound up her locks with a crown, she took a new robe to deceive him. Jud. 16:10
Her sandals ravished his eyes, her beauty made his soul her captive, with a sword she cut off his head. Jud. 16:11
And Judith offered for an anathema of oblivion all the arms of Holofernes, which the people gave her, and the canopy that she had taken away out of his chamber. Jud. 16:23
And after those days every man returned to his house, and Judith was made great in Bethulia, and she was most renowned in all the land of Israel. Jud. 16:25
And chastity was joined to her virtue, so that she knew no man all the days of her life, after the death of Manasses her husband. Jud. 16:26
And on festival days she came forth with great glory. Jud. 16:27
And she abode in her husband's house a hundred and five years, and made her handmaid free, and she died, and was buried with her husband in Bethulia. Jud. 16:28
To bring in queen Vasthi before the king, with the crown set upon her head, to shew her beauty to all the people and the princes: for she was exceeding beautiful. Esther 1:11
But she refused, and would not come at the king's commandment, which he had signified to her by the eunuchs. Whereupon the king, being angry, and inflamed with a very great fury, Esther 1:12
For this deed of the queen will go abroad to all women, so that they will despise their husbands, and will say: King Assuerus commanded that queen Vasthi should come in to him, and she would not. Esther 1:17
¤ After this, when the wrath of king Assuerus was appeased, he remembered Vasthi, and what she had done and what she had suffered: Esther 2:1
And he had brought up his brother's daughter Edissa, who by another name was called Esther: now she had lost both her parents: and was exceeding fair and beautiful. And her father and mother being dead, Mardochai adopted her for his daughter. Esther 2:7
And she pleased him, and found favour in his sight. And he commanded the eunuch to hasten the women's ornaments, and to deliver to her her part, and seven of the most beautiful maidens of the king's house, and to adorn and deck out both her and her waiting maids. Esther 2:9
And she would not tell him her people nor her country. For Mardochai had charged her to say nothing at all of that: Esther 2:10
And she that went in at evening, came out in the morning, and from thence she was conducted to the second house, that was under the hand of Susagaz the eunuch, who had the charge over the king's concubines: neither could she return any more to the king, unless the king desired it, and had ordered her by name to come. Esther 2:14
And as the time came orderly about, the day was at hand, when Esther, the daughter of Abihail the brother of Mardochai, whom he had adopted for his daughter, was to go in to the king. But she sought not women's ornaments, but whatsoever Egeus the eunuch the keeper of the virgins had a mind, he gave her to adorn her. For she was exceeding fair, and her incredible beauty made her appear agreeable and amiable in the eyes of all. Esther 2:15
So she was brought to the chamber of king Assuerus the tenth month, which is called Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign. Esther 2:16
And the king loved her more than all the women, and she had favour and kindness before him above all the women, and he set the royal crown on her head, and made her queen instead of Vasthi. Esther 2:17
Neither had Esther as yet declared her country and people, according to his commandment. For whatsoever he commanded, Esther observed: and she did all things in the same manner as she was wont at that time when he brought her up a little one. Esther 2:20
And Mardochai had notice of it, and immediately he told it to queen Esther: and she to the king in Mardochai's name, who had reported the thing unto her. Esther 2:22
Then Esther's maids and her eunuchs went in, and told her. And when she heard it she was in a consternation and she sent a garment, to clothe him, and to take away the sackcloth: but he would not receive it. Esther 4:4
And she called for Athach the eunuch, whom the king had appointed to attend upon her, and she commanded him to go to Mardochai, and learn of him why he did this. Esther 4:5
She answered him, and bade him say to Mardochai: Esther 4:10
And when she had laid away her royal apparel, she put on garments suitable for weeping and mourning: instead of divers precious ointments, she covered her head with ashes and dung, and she humbled her body with fasts: and all the places in which before she was accustomed to rejoice, she filled with her torn hair. Esther 14:2
And she prayed to the Lord the God of Israel, saying: O my Lord, who alone art our king, help me a desolate woman, and who have no other helper but thee. Esther 14:3
And on the third day she laid away the garments she wore, and put on her glorious apparel. Esther 15:4
And glittering in royal robes, after she had called upon God the ruler and Saviour of all, she took two maids with her, Esther 15:5
And upon one of them she leaned, as if for delicateness and overmuch tenderness she were not able to bear up her own body. Esther 15:6
But she with a rosy colour in her face, and with gracious and bright eyes hid a mind full of anguish, and exceeding great fear. Esther 15:8
So going in she passed through all the doors in order, and stood before the king, where he sat upon his royal throne, clothed with his royal robes, and glittering with gold, and precious stones, and he was terrible to behold. Esther 15:9
And when he had lifted up his countenance, and with burning eyes had shewn the wrath of his heart, the queen sunk down, and her colour turned pale, and she rested her weary head upon her handmaid. Esther 15:10
And God changed the king's spirit into mildness, and all in haste and in fear he leaped from his throne, and holding her up in his arms, till she came to herself, caressed her with these words: Esther 15:11
And as she held her peace, he took the golden sceptre, and laid it upon her neck, and kissed her, and said: Why dost thou not speak to me? Esther 15:15
She answered: I saw thee, my lord, as an angel of God, and my heart was troubled for fear of thy majesty. Esther 15:16
And while she was speaking, she fell down again, and was almost in a swoon. Esther 15:18
And when he saw Esther the queen standing, she pleased his eyes, and he held out toward her the golden sceptre, which he held in his hand and she drew near, and kissed the top of his sceptre. Esther 5:2
But she answered: If it please the king, I beseech thee to come to me this day, and Aman with thee to the banquet which I have prepared. Esther 5:4
Then she answered: If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please thee, give me my life for which I ask, and my people for which I request. Esther 7:3
And not content with these things, she fell down at the king's feet and wept, and speaking to him besought him, that he would give orders that the malice of Aman the Agagite, and his most wicked devices which he had invented against the Jews, should be of no effect. Esther 8:3

I purposed, therefore, to take her to me to live with me: knowing that she will communicate to me of her good things, and will be a comfort in my cares and grief. Wis. 8:9
Send her out of thy holy heaven, and from the throne of thy majesty, that she may be with me, and may labour with me, that I may know what is acceptable with thee: Wis. 9:10
For she knoweth and understandeth all things, and shall lead me soberly in my works, and shall preserve me by her power. Wis. 9:11
¤ She preserved him, that was first formed by God, the father of the world, when he was created alone, Wis. 10:1
And she brought him out of his sin, and gave him power to govern all things. Wis. 10:2
Moreover, when the nations had conspired together to consent to wickedness, she knew the just, and preserved him without blame to God, and kept him strong against the compassion for his son. Wis. 10:5
She delivered the just man, who fled from the wicked that were perishing, when the fire came down upon Pentapolis: Wis. 10:6
She conducted the just, when he fled from his brother's wrath, through the right ways, and shewed him the kingdom of God, and gave him the knowledge of the holy things, made him honourable in his labours, and accomplished his labours. Wis. 10:10
In the deceit of them that overreached him, she stood by him, and made him honourable. Wis. 10:11
She kept him safe from his enemies, and she defended him from seducers, and gave him a strong conflict, that he might overcome, and know that wisdom is mightier than all. Wis. 10:12
She forsook not the just when he was sold, but delivered him from sinners: she went down with him into the pit. Wis. 10:13
And in bands she left him not, till she brought him the sceptre of the kingdom, and power against those that oppressed him: and shewed them to be liars that had accused him, and gave him everlasting glory. Wis. 10:14
She delivered the just people, and blameless seed, from the nations that oppressed them. Wis. 10:15
She entered into the soul of the servant of God and stood against dreadful kings in wonders and signs. Wis. 10:16
And she rendered to the just the wages of their labours, and conducted them in a wonderful way: and she was to them for a covert by day, and for the light of stars by night: Wis. 10:17
And she brought them through the Red Sea, and carried them over through a great water. Wis. 10:18
But their enemies she drowned in the sea, and from the depth of hell she brought them out. Therefore the just took the spoils of the wicked. Wis. 10:19
¤ She prospered their works in the hands of the holy prophet. Wis. 11:1
And they to whom she shall shew herself love her by the sight, and by the knowledge of her great works. Sir. 1:15
She shall fill all her house with her increase, and the storehouses with her treasures. Sir. 1:21
They that hold her fast, shall inherit life: and whithersoever she entereth, God will give a blessing. Sir. 4:14
For she walketh with him in temptation, and at the first she chooseth him. Sir. 4:18
She will bring upon him fear and dread and trial: and she will scourge him with the affliction of her discipline, till she try him by her laws, and trust his soul. Sir. 4:19

And Peter said to her: Tell me, woman, whether you sold the land for so much? And she said: Yea, for so much. Acts 5:8

For the woman that hath an husband, whilst her husband liveth is bound to the law. But if her husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. Rom. 7:2
Therefore, whilst her husband liveth, she shall be called an adulteress, if she be with another man: but if her husband be dead, she is delivered from the law of her husband: so that she is not an adulteress, if she be with another man. Rom. 7:3

But if any man think that he seemeth dishonoured with regard to his virgin, for that she is above the age, and it must so be: let him do what he will. He sinneth not if she marry. 1 Cor. 7:36
A woman is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth: but if her husband die, she is at liberty. Let her marry to whom she will: only in the Lord. 1 Cor. 7:39
But more blessed shall she be, if she so remain, according to my counsel. And I think that I also have the spirit of God. 1 Cor. 7:40
But every woman praying or prophesying with her head not covered disgraceth her head: for it is all one as if she were shaven. 1 Cor. 11:5

And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered: that, when she should be delivered, he might devour her son. Apoc. 12:4
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod. And her son was taken up to God and to his throne. Apoc. 12:5
And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God, that there they should feed her, a thousand two hundred sixty days. Apoc. 12:6
And there were given to the woman two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the desert, unto her place, where she is nourished for a time and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. Apoc. 12:14
Render to her as she also hath rendered to you: and double unto her double, according to her works. In the cup wherein she hath mingled, mingle ye double unto her. Apoc. 18:6
As much as she hath glorified herself and lived in delicacies, so much torment and sorrow give ye to her. Because she saith in her heart: I sit a queen and am no widow: and sorrow I shall not see. Apoc. 18:7
Therefore, shall her plagues come in one day, death and mourning and famine. And she shall be burnt with the fire: because God is strong, who shall judge her. Apoc. 18:8
And they cast dust upon their heads and cried, weeping and mourning, saying: Alas! alas! that great city, wherein all were made rich, that had ships at sea, by reason of her prices. For, in one hour she is made desolate. Apoc. 18:19
And it is granted to her that she should clothe herself with fine linen, glittering and white. For the fine linen are the justifications of saints. Apoc. 19:8
as long as the land quietly kept her sabbathes, al the time of her desolation she sabbathized in the application of seuentie yeares. 3 Esd. 1:58
and taking of the crowne from his head, and putting it vpon her self, and with the palme of her left hand she stroke the king. 3 Esd. 4:30
And beside these thinges he with open mouth beheld her: and if she smiled he laugheth, and if she be angrie with him, he flattereth, til he be reconciled to her fauour. 3 Esd. 4:31
Why, doe they better thinges, that inhabite Babylon? And for this shal she rule ouer Sion? (Jer. 12) 4 Esd. 3:28
And he answered me, and sayd: Goe, and aske a woman with childe, if when she hath accomplished her nine monethes, her wombe can yet hold the infant within it? 4 Esd. 4:40
For as she that is: In trauail maketh hast, to escape the necessitie of trauailing: so this also hasteneth to render those thinges which are commended to it. 4 Esd. 4:42
And one countrie shal aske her neighbour, and shal say: Hath iustice doing iust passed throught thee? and she shal denie it. 4 Esd. 5:11
And I asked, and sayd: Wheras thou hast now geuen me a way, I wil speake before thee: for our mother, of whom thou toldest me, yet she is yong: now draweth nigh to old age. 4 Esd. 5:50
And he answered me, and sayd: Aske her that beareth children, and she wil tel thee. 4 Esd. 5:51
And she also wil say vnto thee: They that are borne in the youth of streingth are of one sort, and they of an other, that are borne about the time of old age, when the matrice fayleth. 4 Esd. 5:53
Behold the time shal come, and it shal be when the signes shal come, which I haue foretold thee, and the bride shal appeare, and appearing she shal be shewed that now is hid with the earth: 4 Esd. 7:26
And he said unto me, Not only this, but ask the earth, and she shall tell thee; intreat her, and she shall declare unto thee. 4 Esd. 7:54
And when I spake these thinges in my hart, I looked backe with myne eyes, and saw a woman on the right side, and behold she mourned, and wept with a lowd voice, and was sorrowful in mynde exceedingly, and her garments rent, and ashes vpon her heade. 4 Esd. 9:38
Why weepest thou? and why art thou sorie in mynde. And she sayd to me: 4 Esd. 9:40
And I sayd to her, What ayleth thee: tel me. And she sayd to me: 4 Esd. 9:42
For aske the earth, and it wil tel thee: that it is she, that ought to lament the fal of so manie thinges that spring vpon it. 4 Esd. 10:9
And who then ought to mourne more, but she that hath lost so great a multitude, rather then thou which art sorie for one? 4 Esd. 10:11
Goe in therfore into the citie to thy husband. And she sayd to me: 4 Esd. 10:17
and that which is greatest of al, the seale of Sion, because she is vnsealed of her glorie: For she is also deliuered into the handes of them that hate vs. 4 Esd. 10:23
And Behold, suddenly she put forth a great sound of a voyce ful of feare, that the earth was moued at the womans sound. And I saw: 4 Esd. 10:26
And because she tolde thee of the fal of her sonne, this is the interpretation. 4 Esd. 10:43
This woman which thou sawest, she is Sion, and wheras she told thee of her, whom now also thou shalt see, as a citie builded. 4 Esd. 10:44
And whereas she told thee, that she was barren thirtie yeares: for the which there were thirtie yeares, when there was not yet oblation offered in it. 4 Esd. 10:45
And that which she sayd vnto thee, that she nourished him with labour, this was the habitation in Ierusalem. 4 Esd. 10:47
And wheras she sayd to thee, that my sonne comming into the bryde chamber dyed, and that a fal chanced vnto him, this was the ruine of Ierusalem that is made. 4 Esd. 10:48
And behold, thou hast seene the similitude of her: and because she lamented her sonne, thou beganst to comfort her: and of these thinges that haue chanced, these were to be opened to thee. 4 Esd. 10:49
And I saw, and behold she spred her winges into al the earth, and al the windes of heauen blew vpon her, and were gathered together. 4 Esd. 11:2
For her heades were at rest, and the midle head was greater then the other heades, but she rested with them. 4 Esd. 11:4
so shal iustice hate impietie when she adorneth herselfe, and accuseth her to her face, when he shal come that may defend him that searcheth out al vpon the earth. 4 Esd. 16:51
