Yea and if I should have acted boldly against my own life, this could not have been hid from the king, and wouldst thou have stood by me? 2 Ki. 18:13

And said: If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and my request be not disagreeable to him, I beseech thee, that the former letters of Aman the traitor and enemy of the Jews, by which he commanded that they should be destroyed in all the king's provinces, may be reversed by new letters. And this was the content of the letter, that it should be notified in all lands and peoples that were subject to the empire of king Assuerus, that the Jews were ready to be revenged of their enemies. Esther 8:13

Because on those days the Jews revenged themselves of their enemies, and their mourning and sorrow were turned into mirth and joy, and that these should be days of feasting and gladness, in which they should send one to another portions of meats, and should give gifts to the poor. Esther 9:22
And the things that they suffered, and that were afterwards changed, the Jews took upon themselves and their seed, and upon all that had a mind to be joined to their religion, so that it should be lawful for none to pass these days without solemnity: which the writing testifieth, and certain times require, as the years continually succeed one another. Esther 9:27
And Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mardochai the Jew, wrote also a second epistle, that with all diligence this day should be established a festival for the time to come. Esther 9:29
And they sent to all the Jews that were in the hundred and twenty-seven provinces of king Assuerus, that they should have peace, and receive truth, Esther 9:30
And he commanded that there should be two lots, one of the people of God, and the other of all the nations. Esther 10:10

Every proud man is an abomination to the Lord: though hand should be joined to hand, he is not innocent. The beginning of a good way is to do justice: and this is more acceptable with God, than to offer sacrifices. Pr. 16:5
For if thou have not wherewith to restore, what cause is there that he should take the covering from thy bed? Pr. 22:27
For it is better that it should be said to thee: Come up hither; than that thou shouldst be humbled before the prince. Pr. 25:7
As if a thorn should grow in the hand of a drunkard: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. Pr. 26:9

And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den: which the king sealed with his own ring, and with the ring of his nobles, that nothing should be done against Daniel. Dan. 6:17
Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and he commanded that Daniel should be taken out of the den: and Daniel was taken out of the den, and no hurt was found in him, because he believed in his God. Dan. 6:23
And Daniel laughed: and he held the king, that he should not go in: and he said: Behold the pavement, mark whose footsteps these are. Dan. 14:18

And that the Jews, and their priests, had consented that he should be their prince and high priest for ever, till there should arise a faithful prophet: 1 Ma. 14:41
And that he should be chief over them, and that he should have the charge of the sanctuary, and that he should appoint rulers over their works, and over the country, and over the armour, and over the strong holds; 1 Ma. 14:42
And that he should have care of the holy places; and that he should be obeyed by all, and that all the writings in the country should be made in his name; and that he should be clothed with purple and gold: 1 Ma. 14:43
And that it should not be lawful for any of the people, or of the priests, to disannul any of these things, or to gainsay his words, or to call together an assembly in the country without him: or to be clothed with purple, or to wear a buckle of gold. 1 Ma. 14:44
And they commanded that this writing should be put in tables of brass, and that they should be set up within the compass of the sanctuary, in a conspicuous place: 1 Ma. 14:48
And that a copy thereof should be put in the treasury, that Simon, and his sons, may have it. 1 Ma. 14:49
And all that is due to the king, and what should be the king's hereafter, from this present and for ever, is forgiven thee. 1 Ma. 15:8
It hath seemed good therefore to us, to write to the kings and countries, that they should do them no harm, nor fight against them, their cities, or countries: and that they should give no aid to them that fight against them. 1 Ma. 15:19
And Ptolemee wrote these things, and sent to the king that he should send him an army to aid him, and he would deliver him the country, and their cities, and tributes. 1 Ma. 16:18
But when many years had passed, and it pleased God that Nehemias should be sent by the king of Persia, he sent some of the posterity of those priests that had hid it, to seek for the fire: and as they told us, they found no fire, but thick water. 2 Ma. 1:20
And how he gave them the law, that they should not forget the commandments of the Lord, and that they should not err in their minds, seeing the idols of gold, and silver, and the ornaments of them. 2 Ma. 2:2

So Menelaus, who was guilty of all the evil, was acquitted by him of the accusations: and those poor men, who, if they had pleaded their cause even before Scythians, should have been judged innocent, were condemned to death. 2 Ma. 4:47
And he that had driven many out of their country perished in a strange land, going to Lacedemon, as if for kindred sake he should have refuge there: 2 Ma. 5:9
And there went out a decree into the neighbouring cities of the Gentiles, by the suggestion of the Ptolemeans, that they also should act in like manner against the Jews, to oblige them to sacrifice: 2 Ma. 6:8
And whosoever would not conform themselves to the ways of the Gentiles, should be put to death: then was misery to be seen. 2 Ma. 6:9
And so they, through my dissimulation, and for a little time of a corruptible life, should be deceived, and hereby I should bring a stain and a curse upon my old age. 2 Ma. 6:25
For though, for the present time, I should be delivered from the punishments of men, yet should I not escape the hand of the Almighty neither alive nor dead. 2 Ma. 6:26
Wherefore he sent immediately to the cities upon the sea coast, to invite men together to buy up the Jewish slaves, promising that they should have ninety slaves for one talent, not reflecting on the vengeance which was to follow him from the Almighty. 2 Ma. 8:11
And when he himself could not now abide his own stench, he spoke thus: It is just to be subject to God, and that a mortal man should not equal himself to God. 2 Ma. 9:12

Our father being translated amongst the gods we are desirous that they that are in our realm should live quietly, and apply themselves diligently to their own concerns. 2 Ma. 11:23
Wherefore being desirous that this nation also should be at rest, we have ordained and decreed, that the temple should be restored to them, and that they may live according to the custom of their ancestors. 2 Ma. 11:25

And his disciples asked him: Rabbi, who hath sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind? Jn. 9:2
Jesus answered: Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. Jn. 9:3
These things his parents said, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had already agreed among themselves that if any man should confess him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. Jn. 9:22
Jesus said to them: If you were blind, you should not have sin: but now you say: We see. Your sin remaineth. Jn. 9:41
But some of them said: Could not he that opened the eyes of the man born blind have caused that this man should not die? Jn. 11:37
Neither do you consider that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people and that the whole nation perish not. Jn. 11:50
And this he spoke not of himself: but being the high priest of that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation. Jn. 11:51
And the chief priests and Pharisees had given a commandment that, if any man knew where he was, he should tell, that they might apprehend him. Jn. 11:57
But Jesus answered them, saying: The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified. Jn. 12:23

He hath blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart and be converted: and I should heal them. Jn. 12:40
For I have not spoken of myself: but the Father who sent me, he gave me commandment what I should say and what I should speak. Jn. 12:49
¤ Before the festival day of the pasch, Jesus knowing that his hour was come, that he should pass out of this world to the Father: having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end. Jn. 13:1
For some thought, because Judas had the purse, that Jesus had said to him: Buy those things which we have need of for the festival day: or that he should give something to the poor. Jn. 13:29
You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. Jn. 15:16
Now we know that thou knowest all things and thou needest not that any man should ask thee. By this we believe that thou camest forth from God. Jn. 16:30
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth and said to them: Whom seek ye? Jn. 18:4

But you have a custom that I should release one unto you at the Pasch. Will you, therefore, that I release unto you the king of the Jews? Jn. 18:39
And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said this, he saith to him: Follow me. Jn. 21:19
This saying therefore went abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. And Jesus did not say to him: He should not die; but: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee? Jn. 21:23
But there are also many other things which Jesus did which, if they were written every one, the world itself. I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written. Jn. 21:25
And eating together with them, he commanded them, that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but should wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard (saith he) by my mouth. Acts 1:4
Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the sorrows of hell, as it was impossible that he should be holden by it. Acts 2:24

This same, dealing craftily with our race, afflicted our fathers, that they should expose their children, to the end they might not be kept alive. Acts 7:19
The tabernacle of the testimony was with our fathers in the desert, as God ordained for them, speaking to Moses, that he should make it according to the form which he had seen. Acts 7:44
Now, whilst Peter was doubting within himself what the vision that he had seen should mean, behold the men who were sent from Cornelius, inquiring for Simon's house, stood at the gate. Acts 10:17
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost, as well as we? Acts 10:47
And the Spirit said to me that I should go with them, nothing doubting. And these six brethren went with me also: and we entered into the man's house. Acts 11:12
And one of them named Agabus, rising up, signified by the Spirit that there should be a great famine over the whole world, which came to pass under Claudius. Acts 11:28
And when Herod had sought for him and found him not, having examined the keepers, he commanded they should be put to death. And going down from Judea to Caesarea, he abode there. Acts 12:19
And when Paul and Barnabas had no small contest with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of the other side should go up to the apostles and priests to Jerusalem, about this question. Acts 15:2
And when there had been much disputing, Peter, rising up, said to them: Men, brethren, you know that in former days God made choice among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. Acts 15:7
And they that conducted Paul brought him as far as Athens: and receiving a commandment from him to Silas and Timothy, that they should come to him with all speed, they departed. Acts 17:15
That they should seek God, if haply they may feel after him or find him, although he be not far from every one of us. Acts 17:27

Then Paul took the men and, the next day being purified with them, entered into the temple, giving notice of the accomplishment of the days of purification, until an oblation should be offered for every one of them. Acts 21:26
And they heard him until this word and then lifted up their voice, saying: Away with such an one from the earth. For it is not fit that he should live. Acts 22:22
The tribune commanded him to be brought into the castle, and that he should be scourged and tortured: to know for what cause they did so cry out against him. Acts 22:24
And when there arose a great dissension, the tribune, fearing lest Paul should be pulled in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and to take him by force from among them and to bring him into the castle. Acts 23:10
The tribune therefore dismissed the young man, charging him that he should tell no man that he had made known these things unto him. Acts 23:22
(For he feared lest perhaps the Jews might take him away by force and kill him: and he should afterwards be slandered, as if he was to take money.) And he wrote a letter after this manner: Acts 23:25
And he commanded a centurion to keep him: and that he should be easy and that he should not prohibit any of his friends to minister unto him. Acts 24:23
Hoping also withal that money should be given him by Paul: for which cause also oftentimes sending for him, he spoke with him. Acts 24:26
Why should it be thought a thing incredible that God should raise the dead? Acts 26:8

¤ And when it was determined that he should sail into Italy and that Paul, with the other prisoners, should be delivered to a centurion, named Julius, of the band Augusta, Acts 27:1
Which being taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship: and fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, they let down the sail yard and so were driven. Acts 27:17
And after they had fasted a long time, Paul standing forth in the midst of them, said: You should indeed, O ye men, have hearkened unto me and not have loosed from Crete and have gained this harm and loss. Acts 27:21
Then fearing lest we should fall upon rough places, they cast four anchors out of the stern: and wished for the day. Acts 27:29

That I should be the minister of Christ Jesus among the Gentiles: sanctifying the gospel of God, that the oblation of the Gentiles may be made acceptable and sanctified in the Holy Ghost. Rom. 15:16
And I have so preached this gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation. Rom. 15:20
Lest any should say that you were baptized in my name. 1 Cor. 1:15
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of speech, lest the cross of Christ should be made void. 1 Cor. 1:17

Why then was the law? It was set because of transgressions, until the seed should come to whom he made the promise, being ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Gal. 3:19
Was the law then against the promises of God: God forbid! For if there had been a law given which could give life, verily justice should have been by the law. Gal. 3:21
You did run well. Who hath hindered you, that you should not obey the truth? Gal. 5:7
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world. Gal. 6:14
