But he musing, beheld her with silence, desirous to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not. Gen. 24:21

And I asked her, and said: Whose daughter art thou? And she answered: I am the daughter of Bathuel, the son of Nachor, whom Melcha bore to him. So I put earrings on her to adorn her face, and I put bracelets on her hands. Gen. 24:47
Behold, Rebecca is before thee, take her and go thy way, and let her be the wife of thy master's son, as the Lord hath spoken. Gen. 24:51
And bringing forth vessels of silver and gold, and garments, he gave them to Rebecca, for a present. He offered gifts also to her brothers, and to her mother. Gen. 24:53
And her brother and mother answered: Let the maid stay, at least, ten days with us, and afterwards she shall depart. Gen. 24:55
And they said: Let us call the maid, and ask her will. Gen. 24:57
And they called her, and when she was come, they asked: Wilt thou go with this man? She said: I will go. Gen. 24:58

So Rebecca and her maids, being set upon camels, followed the man: who with speed returned to his master. Gen. 24:61

And when she was ready to be brought to bed, there appeared twins in her womb: and in the very delivery of the infants, one put forth a hand, whereon the midwife tied a scarlet thread, saying: Gen. 38:27
And after many days, his mistress cast her eyes on Joseph, and said: Lie with me. Gen. 39:7

Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths all the days of her desolation. When you shall be Lev. 26:34

The priest shall take from her hand the sacrifice of jealousy, and shall elevate it before the Lord, and shall put it upon the altar: yet so as first, Num. 5:25
And when she hath drunk them, if she be defiled, and having despised her husband be guilty of adultery, the malediction shall go through her, and her belly swelling, her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse, and an example to all the people. Num. 5:27
This is the law of jealousy. If a woman hath gone aside from her husband, and be defiled, Num. 5:29
And the husband stirred up by the spirit of jealousy bring her before the Lord, and the priest do to her according to all things that are here written: Num. 5:30
The husband shall be blameless, and she shall bear her iniquity. Num. 5:31
The cloud also that was over the tabernacle departed: and behold Mary appeared white as snow with a leprosy. And when Aaron had looked on her, and saw her all covered with leprosy, Num. 12:10
Let her not be as one dead, and as an abortive that is cast forth from the mother's womb. Lo, now one half of her flesh is consumed with the leprosy. Num. 12:12

She fell on her face, and worshipping upon the ground, said to him: Whence cometh this to me, that I should find grace before thy eyes, and that thou shouldst vouchsafe to take notice of me, a woman of another country? Ruth 2:10
And he answered her: All hath been told me, that thou hast done to thy mother in law after the death of thy husband: and how thou hast left thy parents, and the land wherein thou wast born, and art come to a people which thou knewest not heretofore. Ruth 2:11

And he said to her: Who art thou ? And she answered: I am Ruth, thy handmaid: spread thy coverlet over thy servant, for thou art a near kinsman. Ruth 3:9

And they rose in the morning, and worshipped before the Lord: and they returned, and came into their house at Ramatha. And Elcana knew Anna his wife: And the Lord remembered her. 1 Ki. 1:19
And Elcana, her husband, went up, and all his house, to offer to the Lord the solemn sacrifice, and his vow. 1 Ki. 1:21
But Anna went not up: for she said to her husband: I will not go till the child be weaned, and till I may carry him, that he may appear before the Lord, and may abide always there. 1 Ki. 1:22

And Joiada the high priest going out to the captains, and the chiefs of the army, said to them: Take her forth without the precinct of the temple, and when she is without let her be killed with the sword. For the priest commanded that she should not be killed in the house of the Lord. 2 Par. 23:14
And they laid hold on her by the neck: and when she was come within the horse gate of the palace, they killed her there. 2 Par. 23:15
For that wicked woman Athalia, and her children have destroyed the house of God, and adorned the temple of Baal with all the things that had been dedicated in the temple of the Lord. 2 Par. 24:7

Then Tobias exhorted the virgin, and said to her: Sara, arise, and let us pray to God to day, and to morrow, and the next day: because for these three nights we are joined to God: and when the third night is over, we will be in our own wedlock. Tob. 8:4
For he said: Lest perhaps it may have happened to him, in like manner as it did to the other seven husbands, that went in unto her. Tob. 8:12
And when they had prepared the pit, Raguel went back to his wife, and said to her: Tob. 8:13
Send one of thy maids, and let her see if he be dead, that I may bury him before it be day. Tob. 8:14
So she sent one of her maidservants, who went into the chamber, and found them safe and sound, sleeping both together. Tob. 8:15
And Tobias said to her: Hold thy peace, and be not troubled, our son is safe: that man with whom we sent him is very trusty. Tob. 10:6

And she wore haircloth upon her loins, and fasted all the days of her life, except the sabbaths, and new moons, and the feasts of the house of Israel. Jud. 8:6
And she was exceedingly beautiful, and her husband left her great riches, and very many servants, and large possessions of herds of oxen, and flocks of sheep. Jud. 8:7
And she was greatly renowned among all, because she feared the Lord very much, neither was there any one that spoke an ill word of her. Jud. 8:8
And they came to her, and she said to them: What is this word, by which Ozias hath consented to give up the city to the Assyrians, if within five days there come no aid to us? Jud. 8:10
And Ozias and the ancients said to her: All things which thou hast spoken are true, and there is nothing to be reprehended in thy words. Jud. 8:28
And Ozias the prince of Juda said to her: Go in peace, and the Lord be with thee to take revenge of our enemies. So returning they departed. Jud. 8:34
¤ And when they were gone, Judith went into her oratory: and putting on haircloth, laid ashes on her head: and falling down prostrate before the Lord, she cried to the Lord, saying: Jud. 9:1
And she called her maid, and going down into her house she took off her haircloth, and put away the garments of her widowhood, Jud. 10:2
And she washed her body, and anointed herself with the best ointment, and plaited the hair of her head, and put a bonnet upon her head, and clothed herself with the garments of her gladness, and put sandals on her feet, and took her bracelets, and lilies, and earlets, and rings, and adorned herself with all her ornaments. Jud. 10:3
And the Lord also gave her more beauty: because all this dressing up did not proceed from sensuality, but from virtue: and therefore the Lord increased this her beauty, so that she appeared to all men's eyes incomparably lovely. Jud. 10:4
And she gave to her maid a bottle of wine to carry, and a vessel of oil, and parched corn, and dry figs, and bread and cheese, and went out. Jud. 10:5
And when they saw her they were astonished, and admired her beauty exceedingly. Jud. 10:7
But they asked her no question, only they let her pass, saying: The God of our fathers give thee grace, and may he strengthen all the counsel of thy heart with his power, that Jerusalem may glory in thee, and thy name may be in the number of the holy and just. Jud. 10:8
But Judith praying to the Lord, passed through the gates, she and her maid. Jud. 10:10
And it came to pass, when she went down the hill, about break of day, that the watchmen of the Assyrians met her, and stopped her, saying: Whence comest thou or whither goest thou? Jud. 10:11
And when the men had heard her words, they beheld her face, and their eyes were amazed, for they wondered exceedingly at her beauty. Jud. 10:14
And they said to her: Thou hast saved thy life by taking this resolution, to come down to our lord. Jud. 10:15
And be assured of this, that when thou shalt stand before him, he will treat thee well, and thou wilt be most acceptable to his heart. And they brought her to the tent of Holofernes, telling him of her. Jud. 10:16
After she had looked on his face, bowed down to him, prostrating herself to the ground. And the servants of Holofernes lifted her up, by the command of their master. Jud. 10:20
¤ Then Holofernes said to her: Be of good comfort, and fear not in thy heart: for I have never hurt a man that was willing to serve Nabuchodonosor the king. Jud. 11:1
And all these words pleased Holofernes, and his servants, and they admired her wisdom, and they said one to another: Jud. 11:18
And Holofernes said to her: God hath done well who sent thee before the people, that thou mightest give them into our hands: Jud. 11:20
¤ Then he ordered that she should go in where his treasures were laid up, and bade her tarry there, and he appointed what should be given her from his own table. Jud. 12:1
And Holofernes said to her: If these things which thou hast brought with thee fail thee, what shall we do for thee? Jud. 12:3
And Judith said: As thy soul liveth, my lord, thy handmaid shall not spend all these things till God do by my hand that which I have purposed. And his servants brought her into the tent which he had commanded. Jud. 12:4
And he commanded his chamberlains, that she might go out and in, to adore her God as she pleased, for three days. Jud. 12:6
And as she came up, she prayed to the Lord the God of Israel, that he would direct her way to the deliverance of his people. Jud. 12:8
And going in, she remained pure in the tent, until she took her own meat in the evening. Jud. 12:9
And it came to pass on the fourth day, that Holofernes made a supper for his servants, and said to Vagao his eunuch: Go, and persuade that Hebrew woman, to consent of her own accord to dwell with me. Jud. 12:10
And she arose and dressed herself out with her garments, and going in she stood before his face. Jud. 12:15
And the heart of Holofernes was smitten, for he was burning with the desire of her. Jud. 12:16
And Holofernes said to her: Drink now, and sit down and be merry; for thou hast found favour before me. Jud. 12:17
And she took and ate and drank before him what her maid had prepared for her. Jud. 12:19
And Holofernes was made merry on her occasion, and drank exceeding much wine, so much as he had never drunk in his life. Jud. 12:20
And Judith spoke to her maid to stand without before the chamber, and to watch: Jud. 13:5
And Judith stood before the bed praying with tears, and the motion of her lips in silence, Jud. 13:6
And after a while she went out, and delivered the head of Holofernes to her maid, and bade her put it into her wallet. Jud. 13:11
And it came to pass, when the men had heard her voice, that they called the ancients of the city. Jud. 13:14
And all ran to meet her from the least to the greatest: for they now had no hopes that she would come. Jud. 13:15
And lighting up lights they all gathered round about her: and she went up to a higher place, and commanded silence to be made. And when all had held their peace, Jud. 13:16
And they all adored the Lord, and said to her: The Lord hath blessed thee by his power, because by thee he hath brought our enemies to nought. Jud. 13:22
And Ozias the prince of the people of Israel, said to her: Blessed art thou, O daughter, by the Lord the most high God, above all women upon the earth. Jud. 13:23
But after he had recovered his spirits he fell down at her feet, and reverenced her, and said: Jud. 13:30
And he went into the tent of Judith, and not finding her, he ran out to the people, Jud. 14:15
And when she was come out to him, they all blessed her with one voice, saying: Thou art the glory of Jerusalem, thou art the joy of Israel, thou art the honour of our people: Jud. 15:10
But all those things that were proved to be the peculiar goods of Holofernes, they gave to Judith in gold, and silver, and garments and precious stones, and all household stuff, and they all were delivered to her by the people. Jud. 15:14
For their mighty one did not fall by young men, neither did the sons of Titan strike him, nor tall giants oppose themselves to him, but Judith the daughter of Merari weakened him with the beauty of her face. Jud. 16:8
For she put off her the garments of widowhood, and put on her the garments of joy, to give joy to the children of Israel. Jud. 16:9
She anointed her face with ointment, and bound up her locks with a crown, she took a new robe to deceive him. Jud. 16:10
Her sandals ravished his eyes, her beauty made his soul her captive, with a sword she cut off his head. Jud. 16:11
The Persians quaked at her constancy, and the Medes at her boldness. Jud. 16:12
And Judith offered for an anathema of oblivion all the arms of Holofernes, which the people gave her, and the canopy that she had taken away out of his chamber. Jud. 16:23
And chastity was joined to her virtue, so that she knew no man all the days of her life, after the death of Manasses her husband. Jud. 16:26
And she abode in her husband's house a hundred and five years, and made her handmaid free, and she died, and was buried with her husband in Bethulia. Jud. 16:28
And all the time of her life there was none that troubled Israel, nor many years after her death. Jud. 16:30
To bring in queen Vasthi before the king, with the crown set upon her head, to shew her beauty to all the people and the princes: for she was exceeding beautiful. Esther 1:11
But she refused, and would not come at the king's commandment, which he had signified to her by the eunuchs. Whereupon the king, being angry, and inflamed with a very great fury, Esther 1:12
What sentence ought to pass upon Vasthi the queen, who had refused to obey the commandment of king Assuerus, which he had sent to her by the eunuchs? Esther 1:15
If it please thee, let an edict go out from thy presence, and let it be written according to the law of the Persians and of the Medes, which must not be altered, that Vasthi come in no more to the king, but another, that is better than her, be made queen in her place. Esther 1:19
And whosoever among them all shall please the king's eyes, let her be queen instead of Vasthi. The word pleased the king: and he commanded it should be done as they had suggested. Esther 2:4
And he had brought up his brother's daughter Edissa, who by another name was called Esther: now she had lost both her parents: and was exceeding fair and beautiful. And her father and mother being dead, Mardochai adopted her for his daughter. Esther 2:7
And she pleased him, and found favour in his sight. And he commanded the eunuch to hasten the women's ornaments, and to deliver to her her part, and seven of the most beautiful maidens of the king's house, and to adorn and deck out both her and her waiting maids. Esther 2:9
And she would not tell him her people nor her country. For Mardochai had charged her to say nothing at all of that: Esther 2:10
And he walked every day before the court of the house, in which the chosen virgins were kept, having a care for Esther's welfare, and desiring to know what would befall her. Esther 2:11
And she that went in at evening, came out in the morning, and from thence she was conducted to the second house, that was under the hand of Susagaz the eunuch, who had the charge over the king's concubines: neither could she return any more to the king, unless the king desired it, and had ordered her by name to come. Esther 2:14
And as the time came orderly about, the day was at hand, when Esther, the daughter of Abihail the brother of Mardochai, whom he had adopted for his daughter, was to go in to the king. But she sought not women's ornaments, but whatsoever Egeus the eunuch the keeper of the virgins had a mind, he gave her to adorn her. For she was exceeding fair, and her incredible beauty made her appear agreeable and amiable in the eyes of all. Esther 2:15
And the king loved her more than all the women, and she had favour and kindness before him above all the women, and he set the royal crown on her head, and made her queen instead of Vasthi. Esther 2:17
Neither had Esther as yet declared her country and people, according to his commandment. For whatsoever he commanded, Esther observed: and she did all things in the same manner as she was wont at that time when he brought her up a little one. Esther 2:20
And Mardochai had notice of it, and immediately he told it to queen Esther: and she to the king in Mardochai's name, who had reported the thing unto her. Esther 2:22
Then Esther's maids and her eunuchs went in, and told her. And when she heard it she was in a consternation and she sent a garment, to clothe him, and to take away the sackcloth: but he would not receive it. Esther 4:4
And she called for Athach the eunuch, whom the king had appointed to attend upon her, and she commanded him to go to Mardochai, and learn of him why he did this. Esther 4:5
He gave him also a copy of the edict which was hanging up in Susan, that he should shew it to the queen, and admonish her to go in to the king, and to entreat him for her people. Esther 4:8
¤ And he commanded her (no doubt but he was Mardochai) to go to the king, and petition for her people, and for her country. Esther 15:1
And when she had laid away her royal apparel, she put on garments suitable for weeping and mourning: instead of divers precious ointments, she covered her head with ashes and dung, and she humbled her body with fasts: and all the places in which before she was accustomed to rejoice, she filled with her torn hair. Esther 14:2
And on the third day she laid away the garments she wore, and put on her glorious apparel. Esther 15:4
And glittering in royal robes, after she had called upon God the ruler and Saviour of all, she took two maids with her, Esther 15:5
And upon one of them she leaned, as if for delicateness and overmuch tenderness she were not able to bear up her own body. Esther 15:6
And the other maid followed her lady, bearing up her train flowing on the ground. Esther 15:7
But she with a rosy colour in her face, and with gracious and bright eyes hid a mind full of anguish, and exceeding great fear. Esther 15:8
And when he had lifted up his countenance, and with burning eyes had shewn the wrath of his heart, the queen sunk down, and her colour turned pale, and she rested her weary head upon her handmaid. Esther 15:10
And God changed the king's spirit into mildness, and all in haste and in fear he leaped from his throne, and holding her up in his arms, till she came to herself, caressed her with these words: Esther 15:11
And as she held her peace, he took the golden sceptre, and laid it upon her neck, and kissed her, and said: Why dost thou not speak to me? Esther 15:15
But the king was troubled, and all his servants comforted her. Esther 15:19
¤ And on the third day Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's hall: now he sat upon his throne in the hall of the palace, over against the door of the house. Esther 5:1
And when he saw Esther the queen standing, she pleased his eyes, and he held out toward her the golden sceptre, which he held in his hand and she drew near, and kissed the top of his sceptre. Esther 5:2
And the king said to her: What wilt thou, queen Esther? what is thy request? if thou shouldst even ask one half of the kingdom, it shall be given to thee. Esther 5:3
And the king said to her, after he had drunk wine plentifully: What dost thou desire should be given thee? and for what thing askest thou? although thou shouldst ask the half of my kingdom, thou shalt have it. Esther 5:6
And after this he said: Queen Esther also hath invited no other to the banquet with the king, but me: and with her I am also to dine to morrow with the king: Esther 5:12
And the king said to her again the second day, after he was warm with wine: What is thy petition, Esther, that it may be granted thee? and what wilt thou have done: although thou ask the half of my kingdom, thou shalt have it. Esther 7:2
¤ On that day king Assuerus gave the house of Aman, the Jews' enemy, to queen Esther, and Mardochai came in before the king. For Esther had confessed to him that he was her uncle. Esther 8:1
And the king took the ring which he had commanded to be taken again from Aman, and gave it to Mardochai. And Esther set Mardochai over her house. Esther 8:2
And he said to her: Thou hast spoken like one of the foolish women: If we have received good things at the hand of God, why should we not receive evil? In all these things Job did not sin with his lips. Job 2:10

As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones are joined together in the womb of her that is with child: so thou knowest not the works of God, who is the maker of all. Eccl. 11:5

Wisdom is glorious, and never fadeth away, and is easily seen by them that love her, and is found by them that seek her. Wis. 6:13

He that awaketh early to seek her, shall not labour: for he shall find her sitting at his door. Wis. 6:15
To think, therefore, upon her, is perfect understanding: and he that watcheth for her, shall quickly be secure. Wis. 6:16
For she goeth about seeking such as are worthy of her, and she sheweth herself to them cheerfully in the ways, and meeteth them with all providence. Wis. 6:17
For the beginning of her is the most true desire of discipline. Wis. 6:18
And the care of discipline is love: and love is the keeping of her laws: and the keeping of her laws is the firm foundation of incorruption: Wis. 6:19
Now what wisdom is, and what was her origin, I will declare: and I will not hide from you the mysteries of God, but will seek her out from the beginning of her birth, and bring the knowledge of her to light, and will not pass over the truth: Wis. 6:24
And I preferred her before kingdoms and thrones, and esteemed riches nothing in comparison of her. Wis. 7:8
Neither did I compare unto her any precious stone: for all gold, in comparison of her, is as a little sand; and silver, in respect to her, shall be counted as clay. Wis. 7:9
I loved her above health and beauty, and chose to have her instead of light: for her light cannot be put out. Wis. 7:10
Now all good things came to me together with her, and innumerable riches through her hands, Wis. 7:11
Which I have learned without guile, and communicate without envy, and her riches I hide not. Wis. 7:13
For in her is the spirit of understanding; holy, one, manifold, subtile, eloquent, active, undefiled, sure, sweet, loving that which is good, quick, which nothing hindereth, beneficent, Wis. 7:22
For wisdom is more active than all active things; and reacheth everywhere, by reason of her purity. Wis. 7:24
For she is a vapour of the power of God, and a certain pure emmanation of the glory of the Almighty God: and therefore no defiled thing cometh into her. Wis. 7:25
Her have I loved, and have sought her out from my youth, and have desired to take her for my spouse, and I became a lover of her beauty. Wis. 8:2
She glorifieth her nobility by being conversant with God: yea, and the Lord of all things hath loved her. Wis. 8:3
And if a man love justice: her labours have great virtues: for she teacheth temperance, and prudence, and justice, and fortitude, which are such things as men can have nothing more profitable in life. Wis. 8:7
I purposed, therefore, to take her to me to live with me: knowing that she will communicate to me of her good things, and will be a comfort in my cares and grief. Wis. 8:9
For her sake I shall have glory among the multitude, and honour with the ancients, though I be young: Wis. 8:10
Moreover, by the means of her I shall have immortality: and shall leave behind me an everlasting memory to them that come after me. Wis. 8:13
When I go into my house, I shall repose myself with her: for her conversation hath no bitterness, nor her company any tediousness, but joy and gladness. Wis. 8:16
And that there is great delight in her friendship, and inexhaustible riches in the works of her hands, and in the exercise of conference with her, wisdom, and glory in the communication of her words: I went about seeking, that I might take her to myself. Wis. 8:18
Send her out of thy holy heaven, and from the throne of thy majesty, that she may be with me, and may labour with me, that I may know what is acceptable with thee: Wis. 9:10
For she knoweth and understandeth all things, and shall lead me soberly in my works, and shall preserve me by her power. Wis. 9:11
But when the unjust went away from her in his anger, he perished by the fury wherewith he murdered his brother. Wis. 10:3
But wisdom hath delivered from sorrow them that attend upon her. Wis. 10:9
For while all things were in quiet silence, and the night was in the midst of her course, Wis. 18:14
The word of God on high is the fountain of wisdom, and her ways are everlasting commandments. Sir. 1:5
To whom hath the root of wisdom been revealed, and who hath known her wise counsels? Sir. 1:6
To whom hath the discipline of wisdom been revealed and made manifest? and who hath understood the multiplicity of her steps? Sir. 1:7
He created her in the Holy Ghost, and saw her, and numbered her, and measured her. Sir. 1:9
And he poured her out upon all his works, and upon all flesh according to his gift, and hath given her to them that love him. Sir. 1:10
And they to whom she shall shew herself love her by the sight, and by the knowledge of her great works. Sir. 1:15
She shall fill all her house with her increase, and the storehouses with her treasures. Sir. 1:21
And it hath seen, and numbered her: but both are the gifts of God. Sir. 1:23
Wisdom shall distribute knowledge, and understanding of prudence: and exalteth the glory of them that hold her. Sir. 1:24
Son, if thou desire wisdom, keep justice, and God will give her to thee. Sir. 1:33
Wisdom inspireth life into her children, and protecteth them that seek after her, and will go before them in the way of justice. Sir. 4:12
And he that loveth her, loveth life: and they that watch for her, shall embrace her sweetness. Sir. 4:13
They that hold her fast, shall inherit life: and whithersoever she entereth, God will give a blessing. Sir. 4:14
They that serve her, shall be servants to the holy one: and God loveth them that love her. Sir. 4:15
He that hearkeneth to her, shall judge nations: and he that looketh upon her, shall remain secure. Sir. 4:16
If he trust to her, he shall inherit her, and his generation shall be in assurance. Sir. 4:17
She will bring upon him fear and dread and trial: and she will scourge him with the affliction of her discipline, till she try him by her laws, and trust his soul. Sir. 4:19
And will disclose her secrets to him, and will heap upon him treasures of knowledge and understanding of justice. Sir. 4:21
And refrain not to speak in the time of salvation. Hide not thy wisdom in her beauty. Sir. 4:28
Come to her as one that plougheth, and soweth, and wait for her good fruits: Sir. 6:19
For in working about her thou shalt labour a little, and shalt quickly eat of her fruits. Sir. 6:20
How very unpleasant is wisdom to the unlearned, and the unwise will not continue with her. Sir. 6:21
She shall be to them as a mighty stone of trial, and they will cast her from them before it be long. Sir. 6:22
For the wisdom of doctrine is according to her name, and she is not manifest unto many, but with them to whom she is known, she continueth even to the sight of God. Sir. 6:23

The bee is small among flying things but her fruit hath the chiefest sweetness. Sir. 11:3
He that considereth her ways in his heart, and hath understanding in her secrets, who goeth after her as one that traceth, and stayeth in her ways. Sir. 14:23
He who looketh in at her windows, and hearkeneth at her door. Sir. 14:24
He that lodgeth near her house, and fastening a pin in her walls shall set up his tent nigh unto her, where good things shall rest in his lodging for ever. Sir. 14:25
He shall set his children under her shelter, and shall lodge under her branches: Sir. 14:26
He shall be protected under her covering from the heat, and shall rest in her glory. Sir. 14:27
¤ He that feareth God, will do good: and he that possesseth justice, shall lay hold on her, Sir. 15:1
But foolish men shall not obtain her, and wise men shall meet her, foolish men shall not see her: for she is far from pride and deceit. Sir. 15:7
Lying men shall not be mindful of her: but men that speak truth shall be found with her, and shall advance, even till they come to the sight of God. Sir. 15:8
Every man of understanding knoweth wisdom, and will give praise to him that findeth her. Sir. 18:28
If thou give to thy soul her desires, she will make thee a joy to thy enemies. Sir. 18:31
A wise daughter shall bring an inheritance to her husband: but she that confoundeth, becometh a disgrace to her father. Sir. 22:4
She that is bold shameth both her father and husband, and will not be inferior to the ungodly: and shall be disgraced by them both. Sir. 22:5
So every woman also that leaveth her husband, and bringeth in an heir by another: Sir. 23:32
For first she hath been unfaithful to the law of the most High: and secondly, she hath offended against her husband: thirdly, she hath fornicated in adultery, and hath gotten her children of another man. Sir. 23:33
This woman shall be brought into the assembly, and inquisition shall be made of her children. Sir. 23:34
Her children shall not take root, and her branches shall bring forth no fruit. Sir. 23:35
She shall leave her memory to be cursed, and her infamy shall not be blotted out. Sir. 23:36
¤ Wisdom shall praise her own self, and shall be honoured in God, and shall glory in the midst of her people, Sir. 24:1
And shall open her mouth in the churches of the most High, and shall glorify herself in the sight of his power, Sir. 24:2
And in the midst of her own people she shall be exalted, and shall be admired in the holy assembly. Sir. 24:3
Who first hath perfect knowledge of her, and a weaker shall not search her out. Sir. 24:38
For her thoughts are more vast than the sea, and her counsels more deep than the great ocean. Sir. 24:39
The wickedness of a woman changeth her face: and she darkeneth her countenance as a bear: and sheweth it like sackcloth. In the midst of her neighbours, Sir. 25:24

A drunken woman is a great wrath: and her reproach and shame shall not be hid. Sir. 26:11
The fornication of a woman shall be known by the haughtiness of her eyes and by her eyelids. Sir. 26:12
Take heed of the impudence of her eyes, and wonder not if she slight thee. Sir. 26:14
She will open her mouth as a thirsty traveller to the fountain, and will drink of every water near her, and will sit down by every hedge, and open her quiver against every arrow, until she fail. Sir. 26:15
The grace of a diligent woman shall delight her husband, and shall fat his bones. Sir. 26:16
Her discipline is the gift of God. Sir. 26:17
As the sun when it riseth to the world in the high places of God, so is the beauty of a good wife for the ornament of her house. Sir. 26:21
If thou followest justice, thou shalt obtain her: and shalt put her on as a long robe of honour, and thou shalt dwell with her: and she shall protect thee for ever, and in the day of acknowledgment thou shalt find a strong foundation. Sir. 27:9
Birds resort unto their like: so truth will return to them that practise her. Sir. 27:10
He will not despise the prayers of the fatherless: nor the widow, when she poureth out her complaint. Sir. 35:17
Do not the widow's tears run down the cheek, and her cry against him that causeth them to fall? Sir. 35:18
The beauty of a woman cheereth the countenance of her husband, and a man desireth nothing more. Sir. 36:24
If she have a tongue that can cure, and likewise mitigate and shew mercy: her husband is not like other men. Sir. 36:25
Treat not with a man without religion concerning holiness, nor with an unjust man concerning justice, nor with a woman touching her of whom she is jealous, nor with a coward concerning war, nor with a merchant about traffic, nor with a buyer of selling, nor with an envious man of giving thanks, Sir. 37:12
A friend and companion meeting together in season, but above them both is a wife with her husband. Sir. 40:23
Gaze not upon another man's wife, and be not inquisitive after his handmaid, and approach not her bed. Sir. 41:27
The father waketh for the daughter when no man knoweth, and the care for her taketh away his sleep, when she is young, lest she pass away the flower of her age, and when she is married, lest she should be hateful: Sir. 42:9
In her virginity, lest she should be corrupted, and be found with child in her father's house: and having a husband, lest she should misbehave herself, or at the least become barren. Sir. 42:10
And the moon in all in her season, is for a declaration of times and a sign of the world. Sir. 43:6
From the moon is the sign of the festival day, a light that decreaseth in her perfection. Sir. 43:7
The month is called after her name, increasing wonderfully in her perfection. Sir. 43:8
I prayed for her before the temple, and unto the very end I will seek after her, and she flourished as a grape soon ripe. Sir. 51:19

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, and my soul shall be joyful in my God: for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation: and with the robe of justice he hath covered me, as a bridegroom decked with a crown, and as a bride adorned with her jewels. Isa. 61:10
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth her seed to shoot forth: so shall the Lord God make justice to spring forth, and praise before all the nations. Isa. 61:11
¤ For Sion's sake I will not hold my peace, and for the sake of Jerusalem, I will not rest till her just one come forth as brightness, and her saviour be lighted as a lamp. Isa. 62:1
Thou shalt no more be called Forsaken: and thy land shall no more be called Desolate: but thou shalt be called My pleasure in her, and thy land inhabited. Because the Lord hath been well pleased with thee: and thy land shall be inhabited. Isa. 62:4
And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people, and the voice of weeping shall no more be heard in her, nor the voice of crying. Isa. 65:19
Before she was in labour, she brought forth; before her time came to be delivered, she brought forth a man child. Isa. 66:7

A wild ass accustomed to the wilderness in the desire of his heart, snuffed up the wind of his love: none shall turn her away: all that seek her shall not fail: in her monthly filth they shall find her. Jer. 2:24
Will a virgin forget her ornament, or a bride her stomacher? but my people hath forgotten me days without number. Jer. 2:32
¤ It is commonly said: If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and marry another man, shall he return to her any more? shall not that woman be polluted, and defiled? but thou hast prostituted thyself to many lovers: nevertheless return to me, saith the Lord, and I will receive thee. And when she had done all these things, I said: Return to me, and she did not return. And her treacherous sister Juda saw, Jer. 3:7
That because the rebellious Israel had played the harlot, I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce: yet her treacherous sister Juda was not afraid, but went and played the harlot also herself. Jer. 3:8
And by the facility of her fornication she defiled the land, and played the harlot with stones and with stocks. Jer. 3:9
And after all this, her treacherous sister Juda hath not returned to me with her whole heart, but with falsehood, saith the Lord. Jer. 3:10
And the Lord said to me: The rebellious Israel hath justified her soul, in comparison of the treacherous Juda. Jer. 3:11
But as a woman that despiseth her lover, so hath the house of Israel despised me, saith the Lord. Jer. 3:20
They are set round about her, as keepers of fields: because she hath provoked me to wrath, saith the Lord. Jer. 4:17
For I have heard the voice as of a woman in travail, anguishes as of a woman in labour of a child. The voice of the daughter of Sion, dying away, spreading her hands: Woe is me, for my soul hath fainted because of them that are slain. Jer. 4:31
The shepherds shall come to her with their flocks: they have pitched their tents against her round about: every one shall feed them that are under his hand. Jer. 6:3
Prepare ye war against her: arise, and let us go up at midday: woe unto us, for the day is declined, for the shadows of the evening are grown longer. Jer. 6:4
Arise, and let us go up in the night, and destroy her houses. Jer. 6:5
For thus saith the Lord of hosts: Hew down her trees, cast up a trench about Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited, all oppression is in the midst of her. Jer. 6:6
As a cistern maketh its water cold, so hath she made her wickedness cold: violence and spoil shall be heard in her, infirmity and stripes are continually before me. Jer. 6:7
The kite in the air hath known her time: the turtle, and the swallow, and the stork have observed the time of their coming: but my people have not known the judgment of the Lord. Jer. 8:7
Behold the voice of the daughter of my people from a far country: Is not the Lord in Sion, or is not her king in her? why then have they provoked me to wrath with their idols, and strange vanities? Jer. 8:19

I have forsaken my house, I have left my inheritance: I have given my dear soul into the hand of her enemies. Jer. 12:7

But we will certainly do every word that shall proceed out of our own mouth, to sacrifice to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we and our fathers have done, our kings, and our princes in the cities of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem: and we were filled with bread, and it was well with us, and we saw no evil. Jer. 44:17
But since we left off to offer sacrifice to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword, and by famine. Jer. 44:18
And if we offer sacrifice to the queen of heaven, and pour out drink offerings to her: did we make cakes to worship her, to pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands? Jer. 44:19
Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, saying: You and your wives have spoken with your mouth, and fulfilled with your hands, saying: Let us perform our vows which we have made, to offer sacrifice to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her: you have fulfilled your vows, and have performed them indeed. Jer. 44:25
Egypt is like a fair and beautiful heifer: there shall come from the north one that shall goad her. Jer. 46:20

Baldness is come upon Gaza: Ascalon hath held her peace with the remnant of their valley: how long shalt thou cut thyself? Jer. 47:5
Moab is destroyed: proclaim a cry for her little ones. Jer. 48:4
Moab is laid waste, and they have cast down her cities: and her choice young men are gone down to the slaughter: saith the king, whose name is the Lord of hosts. Jer. 48:15

Against Edom. Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Is wisdom no more in Theman? counsel is perished from her children: their wisdom is become unprofitable. Jer. 49:7

Damascus is undone, she is put to flight, trembling hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her as a woman in labour. Jer. 49:24
Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets: and all the men of war shall be silent in that day, saith the Lord of hosts. Jer. 49:26
For a nation is come up against her out of the north, which shall make her land desolate: and there shall be none to dwell therein, from man even to beast: yea they are removed, and gone away. Jer. 50:3

We would have cured Babylon, but she is not healed: let us forsake her, and let us go every man to his own land: because her judgment hath reached even to the heavens, and is lifted up to the clouds. Jer. 51:9
Set ye up a standard in the land: sound with the trumpet among the nations: prepare the nations against her: call together against her the kings of Ararat, Menni, and Ascenez: number Taphsar against her, bring the horse as the stinging locust. Jer. 51:27
Prepare the nations against her, the kings of Media, their captains, and all their rulers, and all the land of their dominion. Jer. 51:28
The valiant men of Babylon have forborne to fight, they have dwelt in holds: their strength hath failed, and they are become as women: her dwelling places are burnt, her bars are broken. Jer. 51:30
For thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: The daughter of Babylon is like a thrashingfloor, this is the time of her thrashing: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come. Jer. 51:33
Therefore thus saith the Lord: Behold I will judge thy cause, and will take vengeance for thee, and I will make her sea desolate, and will dry up her spring. Jer. 51:36
Her cities are become an astonishment, a land uninhabited and desolate, a land wherein none can dwell, nor son of man pass through it. Jer. 51:43

And Oolla committed fornication against me, and doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians that came to her, Ezec. 23:5
And she committed her fornications with those chosen men, all sons of the Assyrians: and she defiled herself with the uncleanness of all them on whom she doted. Ezec. 23:7
Moreover also she did not forsake her fornications which she had committed in Egypt: for they also lay with her in her youth, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured out their fornication upon her. Ezec. 23:8
Therefore have I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, into the hands of the sons of the Assyrians, upon whose lust she doted. Ezec. 23:9
They discovered her disgrace, took away her sons and daughters, and slew her with the sword: and they became infamous women, and they executed judgments in her. Ezec. 23:10
And when her sister Ooliba saw this, she was mad with lust more than she: and she carried her fornication beyond the fornication of her sister. Ezec. 23:11
Impudently prostituting herself to the children of the Assyrians, the princes, and rulers that came to her, clothed with divers colours, to the horsemen that rode upon horses, and to young men all of great beauty. Ezec. 23:12
And she increased her fornications: and when she had seen men painted on the wall, the images of the Chaldeans set forth in colours, Ezec. 23:14
She doted upon them with the lust of her eyes, and she sent messengers to them into Chaldea. Ezec. 23:16
And when the sons of Babylon were come to her to the bed of love, they defiled her with their fornications, and she was polluted by them, and her soul was glutted with them. Ezec. 23:17
And she discovered her fornications, and discovered her disgrace: and my soul was alienated from her, as my soul was alienated from her sister. Ezec. 23:18
For she multiplied her fornications, remembering the days of her youth, in which she played the harlot in the land of Egypt. Ezec. 23:19
Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister and I will give her cup into thy hand. Ezec. 23:31
And there was in her the voice of a multitude rejoicing: and to some that were brought of the multitude of men, and that came from the desert, they put bracelets on their hands, and beautiful crowns on their heads. Ezec. 23:42
And I said to her that was worn out in her adulteries: Now will this woman still continue in her fornication. Ezec. 23:43

There is Edom, and her kings, and all her princes, who with their army are joined with them that are slain by the sword: and have slept with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down into the pit. Ezec. 32:29
And the tree of the field shall yield its fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be in their land without fear: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have broken the bonds of their yoke, and shall have delivered them out of the hand of those that rule over them. As a holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts: so shall the waste cities be full of flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the Lord. Ezec. 36:38

And when the people departed away at noon, Susanna went in, and walked in her husband's orchard. Dan. 13:7
And the old men saw her going in every day, and walking: and they were inflamed with lust towards her: Dan. 13:8
So they were both wounded with the love of her, yet they did not make known their grief one to the other. Dan. 13:10
For they were ashamed to declare to one another their lust, being desirous to have to do with her: Dan. 13:11
And they watched carefully every day to see her. And one said to the other: Dan. 13:12
And turning back again, they came both to the same place: and asking one another the cause, they acknowledged their lust: and then they agreed together upon a time, when they might find her alone. Dan. 13:14
And there was nobody there, but the two old men that had hid themselves, and were beholding her. Dan. 13:16
Now when the maids were gone forth, the two elders arose, and ran to her, and said: Dan. 13:19
With that Susanna cried out with a loud voice: and the elders also cried out against her. Dan. 13:24
When the people were come to Joakim, her husband, the two elders also came full of wicked device against Susanna, to put her to death. Dan. 13:28
And she came with her parents, and children and all her kindred. Dan. 13:30
But those wicked men commanded that her face should be uncovered, (for she was covered) that so at least they might be satisfied with her beauty. Dan. 13:32
Therefore her friends, and all her acquaintance wept. Dan. 13:33
But the two elders rising up in the midst of the people, laid their hands upon her head. Dan. 13:34
And she weeping, looked up to heaven, for her heart had confidence in the Lord. Dan. 13:35
And the elders said: As we walked in the orchard alone, this woman came in with two maids, and shut the doors of the orchard, and sent away the maids from her. Dan. 13:36
Then a young man that was there hid came to her, and lay with her. Dan. 13:37
The multitude believed them, as being the elders, and the judges of the people, and they condemned her to death. Dan. 13:41
And the Lord heard her voice. Dan. 13:44
Return to judgment, for they have borne false witness against her. Dan. 13:49
Now then if thou sawest her, tell me under what tree thou sawest them conversing together: He said: Under a mastic tree. Dan. 13:54
But Helcias, and his wife, praised God, for their daughter, Susanna, with Joakim, her husband, and all her kindred, because there was no dishonesty found in her. Dan. 13:63

And after the end of years they shall be in league together: and the daughter of the king of the south shall come to the king of the north to make friendship, but she shall not obtain the strength of the arm, neither shall her seed stand: and she shall be given up, and her young men that brought her, and they that strengthened her in these times. The beginning of the Lord's speaking by Osee: and the Lord said to Osee: Go, take thee a wife of fornications, and have of her children of fornications: for the land by fornication shall depart from the Lord. Osee 1:2
And she conceived again, and bore a daughter, and he said to him: Call her name, Without mercy: for I will not add any more to have mercy on the house of Israel, but I will utterly forget them. Osee 1:6
And she weaned her that was called Without mercy. And she conceived, and bore a son. Osee 1:8
Judge your mother, judge her: because she is not my wife, and I am not her husband. Let her put away her fornications from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts. Osee 2:2
Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born: and I will make her as a wilderness, and will set her as a land that none can pass through and will kill her with drought. Osee 2:3
And I will not have mercy on her children, for they are the children of fornications. Osee 2:4
Wherefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and I will stop it up with a wall, and she shall not find her paths. Osee 2:6
And she shall follow after her lovers, and shall not overtake them: and she shall seek them, and shall not find, and she shall say: I will go, and return to my first husband: because it was better with me then than now. Osee 2:7
And she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver, and gold, which they have used in the service of Baal. Osee 2:8
Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in its season, and my wine in its season, and I will set at liberty my wool, and my flax, which covered her disgrace. Osee 2:9
And now I will lay open her folly in the eyes of her lovers: and no man shall deliver her out of my hand: Osee 2:10
And I will cause all her mirth to cease, her solemnities, her new moons, her sabbaths, and all her festival times. Osee 2:11
And I will destroy her vines, and her fig trees, of which she said: These are my rewards, which my lovers have given me: and I will make her as a forest and the beasts of the field shall devour her. Osee 2:12
And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, to whom she burnt incense, and decked herself out with her earrings, and with her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgot me, saith the Lord. Osee 2:13
Therefore, behold I will allure her, and will lead her into the wilderness: and I will speak to her heart. Osee 2:14
And I will give her vinedressers out of the same place, and the valley of Achor for an opening of hope: and she shall sing there according to the days of her youth, and according to the days of her coming up out of the land of Egypt. Osee 2:15

And there was a certain woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had bestowed all her substance on physicians and could not be healed by any. Lk. 8:43
She came behind him and touched the hem of his garment: and immediately the issue of her blood stopped. Lk. 8:44
But he said to her: Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. Go thy way in peace. Lk. 8:48
And all wept and mourned for her. But he said: Weep not. The maid is not dead, but sleepeth. Lk. 8:52

And her spirit returned: and she arose immediately. And he bid them give her to eat. Lk. 8:55

Jesus saith to her: Go, call thy husband, and come hither. Jn. 4:16
The woman answered and said: I have no husband. Jesus said to her: Thou hast said well: I have no husband. Jn. 4:17
Jesus saith to her: Woman, believe me that the hour cometh, when you shall neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, adore the Father. Jn. 4:21
Jesus saith to her: I am he, who am speaking with thee. Jn. 4:26
And immediately his disciples came. And they wondered that he talked with the woman. Yet no man said: What seekest thou? Or: Why talkest thou with her? Jn. 4:27

Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister Mary and Lazarus. Jn. 11:5
Jesus saith to her: Thy brother shall rise again. Jn. 11:23
Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, although he be dead, shall live: Jn. 11:25
And when she had said these things, she went and called her sister Mary secretly, saying: The master is come and calleth for thee. Jn. 11:28
The Jews therefore, who were with her in the house and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up speedily and went out, followed her, saying: She goeth to the grave to weep there. Jn. 11:31
Jesus, therefore, when he saw her weeping, and the Jews that were come with her weeping, groaned in the spirit and troubled himself, Jn. 11:33
Jesus saith to her: Did not I say to thee that if thou believe, thou shalt see the glory of God? Jn. 11:40
Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of right spikenard, of great price, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Jn. 12:3

With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication. And they who inhabit the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her whoredom. Apoc. 17:2
And the woman was clothed round about with purple and scarlet, and gilt with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, full of the abomination and filthiness of her fornication. Apoc. 17:4
And on her forehead a name was written: A mystery: Babylon the great, the mother of the fornications and the abominations of the earth. Apoc. 17:5

And the ten horns which thou sawest in the beast: These shall hate the harlot and shall make her desolate and naked and shall eat her flesh and shall burn her with fire. Apoc. 17:16
Because all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication: and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her; And the merchants of the earth have been made rich by the power of her delicacies. Apoc. 18:3
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying: Go out from her, my people; that you be not partakers of her sins and that you receive not of her plagues. Apoc. 18:4
For her sins have reached unto heaven: and the Lord hath remembered her iniquities. Apoc. 18:5
Render to her as she also hath rendered to you: and double unto her double, according to her works. In the cup wherein she hath mingled, mingle ye double unto her. Apoc. 18:6
As much as she hath glorified herself and lived in delicacies, so much torment and sorrow give ye to her. Because she saith in her heart: I sit a queen and am no widow: and sorrow I shall not see. Apoc. 18:7
Therefore, shall her plagues come in one day, death and mourning and famine. And she shall be burnt with the fire: because God is strong, who shall judge her. Apoc. 18:8
And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived in delicacies with her, shall weep and bewail themselves over her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning: Apoc. 18:9
Standing afar off for fear of her torments, saying: Alas! alas! that great city, Babylon, that mighty city: for in one hour is thy judgment come. Apoc. 18:10
And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her: for no man shall buy their merchandise any more. Apoc. 18:11
The merchants of these things, who were made rich, shall stand afar off from her, for fear of her torments, weeping and mourning, Apoc. 18:15
And cried, seeing the place of her burning, saying: What city is like to this great city? Apoc. 18:18
And they cast dust upon their heads and cried, weeping and mourning, saying: Alas! alas! that great city, wherein all were made rich, that had ships at sea, by reason of her prices. For, in one hour she is made desolate. Apoc. 18:19
Rejoice over her, thou heaven and ye holy apostles and prophets. For God hath judged your judgment on her. Apoc. 18:20
And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all that were slain upon the earth. Apoc. 18:24
For true and just are his judgments, who hath judged the great harlot which corrupted the earth with her fornication and hath revenged the blood of his servants, at her hands. Apoc. 19:2
And again they said: Alleluia. And her smoke ascendeth for ever and ever. Apoc. 19:3
And it is granted to her that she should clothe herself with fine linen, glittering and white. For the fine linen are the justifications of saints. Apoc. 19:8
And I, John, saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Apoc. 21:2

So haue I gathered you, as the henne her chickenes vnder her winges. But now what shal I doe to you? I wil throw you from my face. (Matt. 23:37) 4 Esd. 1:30
And I answered, and sayd: Verely they deuised a vayne deuise. For the earth is geuen to the wood, and a place to the sea to carie her waues. 4 Esd. 4:19
And he answered me, and sayd: Goe, and aske a woman with childe, if when she hath accomplished her nine monethes, her wombe can yet hold the infant within it? 4 Esd. 4:40
And one countrie shal aske her neighbour, and shal say: Hath iustice doing iust passed throught thee? and she shal denie it. 4 Esd. 5:11
And he answered me, and sayd: Aske her that beareth children, and she wil tel thee. 4 Esd. 5:51
For thou shalt say to her: Why are not they whom thou hast brought forth, now like to them that were before thee, but lesse of stature? 4 Esd. 5:52

And it came to passe, when I spake to her, her face did shine suddenly, and her shape, and her visage was made glistering, so that I was afrayde excedingly at her, & thought what this thing should be. 4 Esd. 10:25
The woman whom thou sawest mourning, thou beganst to comfort her. 4 Esd. 10:41
And because she tolde thee of the fal of her sonne, this is the interpretation. 4 Esd. 10:43
This woman which thou sawest, she is Sion, and wheras she told thee of her, whom now also thou shalt see, as a citie builded. 4 Esd. 10:44
And behold, thou hast seene the similitude of her: and because she lamented her sonne, thou beganst to comfort her: and of these thinges that haue chanced, these were to be opened to thee. 4 Esd. 10:49
And now the Highest seeth that thou wast sorie from the hart: and because with thy whole hart thou sufferest for her, he hath shewed thee the clearnes of her glorie, and the fayrenes of her beautie. 4 Esd. 10:50
And I saw, and behold she spred her winges into al the earth, and al the windes of heauen blew vpon her, and were gathered together. 4 Esd. 11:2
And I saw, and of her fethers sprang contrarie feathers, and they became litle winges, and smale. 4 Esd. 11:3
For her heades were at rest, and the midle head was greater then the other heades, but she rested with them. 4 Esd. 11:4
And I saw, and behold the eagle flew with her winges, and reigned ouer the earth, and ouer them that dwel in it. 4 Esd. 11:5
And I saw, that al thinges vnder heauen were subiect to her, and no man gaynesayd her, no not one of the creature that is vpon the earth. 4 Esd. 11:6
And I saw, and behold the eagle rose vp vpon her talons, and made a voice with her winges, saying: 4 Esd. 11:7
And I saw, and behold the voice came not out of her heades, but from the middes of her bodie. 4 Esd. 11:10
And I numbered her contrarie winges, and behold they were eight. 4 Esd. 11:11
And the voice that spake which thou heardst, not coming forth of her heads, but from the middes of her bodie, 4 Esd. 12:17
this is the interpretation: in her last dayes the Highest wil rayse vp three kingdoms, and wil cal backe manie thinges into them, and they shal rule ouer the earth, 4 Esd. 12:23
For these shal be they that shal recapitulate her impieties, and that shal accomplish her last thinges. 4 Esd. 12:25
As thou sawest the lyon also, whom thou sawest awaking out of the wood, and roaring, and speaking to the eagle, and rebuking her, and her iniustices by al his wordes as thou hast heard: 4 Esd. 12:31
And they shal passe constant vnto Babylon, and shal raise her. (Apoc. 18) 4 Esd. 15:43
They shal come together against her, and shal compasse her, and shal power out the starre, and al wrath vpon her, and the dust and smoke shal goe vp euen into heauen, and round about shal lament her. 4 Esd. 15:44
And they that shal remaine vnder her, shal serue them that terified her. 4 Esd. 15:45
And thou Asia agreeing into the hope of Babylon, and the glorie of her person, 4 Esd. 15:46
woe be to thee thou wretch, because thou art like to her, and hast adorned thy daughters in fornication, to please & glorie in thy louers, which haue desired alwayes to fornicate with thee. 4 Esd. 15:47
Thou hast imitated the odious in al her workes, and in her inuentions: therefore sayth God: 4 Esd. 15:48
As a woman with childe when shee bringeth forth her child in the ninth moneth, the houre of her deliuerance approching, two or three howres before, paines come about her wombe, and the infants coming out of her wombe, they wil not tarrie one moment. 4 Esd. 16:39
so shal iustice hate impietie when she adorneth herselfe, and accuseth her to her face, when he shal come that may defend him that searcheth out al vpon the earth. 4 Esd. 16:51
Therefore be not made like to her, nor to her workes. 4 Esd. 16:52
