Thou shalt take an awl, and bore through his ear in the door of thy house, and he shall serve thee for ever: thou shalt do in like manner to thy womanservant also. Dt. 15:17

Or if an artist, a carpenter, hath cut down a tree proper for his use in the wood, and skilfully taken off all the bark thereof, and with his art, diligently formeth a vessel profitable for the common uses of life, Wis. 13:11
Providing for it, lest it should fall, knowing that it is unable to help itself: for it is an image, and hath need of help. Wis. 13:16
Therefore there shall be no respect had even to the idols of the Gentiles: because the creatures of God are turned to an abomination, and a temptation to the souls of men, and a snare to the feet of the unwise. Wis. 14:11
For by the vanity of men they came into the world: and therefore they shall be found to come shortly to an end. Wis. 14:14
And those whom men could not honour in presence, because they dwelt far off, they brought their resemblance from afar, and made an express image of the king, whom they had a mind to honour: that by this their diligence, they might honour as present, him that was absent. Wis. 14:17

The lust of an eunuch shall deflour a young maiden: Sir. 20:2
There is an abasement because of glory: and there is one that shall lift up his head from a low estate. Sir. 20:11
There is that will destroy his own soul through shamefacedness, and by occasion of an unwise person he will destroy it: and by respect of person he will destroy himself. Sir. 20:24
Learning to the prudent is as an ornament of gold, and like a bracelet upon his right arm. Sir. 21:24

For thus saith the Lord: Behold I will bring upon her as it were a river of peace, and as an overflowing torrent the glory of the Gentiles, which you shall suck; you shall be carried at the breasts, and upon the knees they shall caress you. Isa. 66:12
You shall see and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb, and the hand of the Lord shall be known to his servants, and he shall be angry with his enemies. Isa. 66:14

Behold I will bring upon you a nation from afar, O house of Israel, saith the Lord: a strong nation, an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou shalt not know, nor understand what they say. Jer. 5:15
Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all valiant. Jer. 5:16
Will not you then fear me, saith the Lord: and will you not repent at my presence? I have set the sand a bound for the sea, an everlasting ordinance, which it shall not pass over: and the waves thereof shall toss themselves, and shall not prevail: they shall swell, and shall not pass over it. Gird thee with sackcloth, O daughter of my people, and sprinkle thee with ashes: make thee mourning as for an only son, a bitter lamentation, because the destroyer shall suddenly come upon us. Jer. 6:26
Therefore will I give their women to strangers, their fields to others for an inheritance: because from the least even to the greatest all follow covetousness: from the prophet even to the priest all deal deceitfully. Jer. 8:10
Who will give me in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men, and I will leave my people, and depart from them? because they are all adulterers, an assembly of transgressors. Jer. 9:2
And I will make Jerusalem to be heaps of sand, and dens of dragons: and I will make the cities of Juda desolate, for want of an inhabitant. Jer. 9:11

And I will make this city an astonishment, and a hissing: every one that shall pass by it, shall be astonished, and shall hiss because of all the plagues thereof. Jer. 19:8
Who slew me not from the womb, that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb an everlasting conception. Jer. 20:17
And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand, and with a strong arm, and in fury, and in indignation, and in great wrath. Jer. 21:5

Is this man Jechonias an earthen and a broken vessel? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? why are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not? Jer. 22:28

Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Take these writings, this deed of the purchase that is sealed up, and this deed that is open: and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days. Jer. 32:14
And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, and will not cease to do them good: and I will give my fear in their heart, that they may not revolt from me. Jer. 32:40

And he was driven out from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses, and he did eat grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven: till he knew that the most High ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he will set over it whomsoever it shall please him. And three princes over them of whom Daniel was one: that the governors might give an account to them, and the king might have no trouble. Dan. 6:2
All the princes of the kingdom, the magistrates, and governors, the senators, and judges, have consulted together, that an imperial decree, and an edict be published: That whosoever shall ask any petition of any god, or man, for thirty days, but of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions. Now the Babylonians had an idol called Bel: and there was spent upon him every day twelve great measures of fine flour, and forty sheep, and six vessels of wine. Dan. 14:2

And I, Daniel alone, saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw it not: but an exceeding great terror fell upon them, and they fled away, and hid themselves. Dan. 10:7
And a plant of the bud of her roots shall stand up: and he shall come with an army, and shall enter into the province of the king of the north: and he shall abuse them, and shall prevail. Dan. 11:7

And Ephraim said: But yet I am become rich, I have found me an idol: all my labours shall not find me the iniquity that I have committed. Osee 12:8

But the Lord, the God of Israel, that seeth all things, struck him with an incurable and an invisible plague. For as soon as he had ended these words, a dreadful pain in his bowels came upon him, and bitter torments of the inner parts. 2 Ma. 9:5

And he hung up Nicanor's head in the top of the castle, that it might be an evident and manifest sign of the help of God. 2 Ma. 15:35
So these things being done with relation to Nicanor, and from that time the city being possessed by the Hebrews, I also will here make an end of my narration. 2 Ma. 15:38
And having received an answer in sleep that they should not return to Herod, they went back another way into their country. Mt. 2:12

Whereupon he promised with an oath, to give her whatsoever she would ask of him. Mt. 14:7
And they seeing him walking upon the sea, were troubled, saying: It is an apparition. And they cried out for fear. Mt. 14:26
What think you? If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them should go astray: doth he not leave the ninety-nine in the mountains, and goeth to seek that which is gone astray? Mt. 18:12
Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened to a king, who would take an account of his servants. Mt. 18:23
But when that servant was gone out, he found one of his fellow-servants that owed him an hundred pence: and laying hold of him, he throttled him, saying: Pay what thou owest. Mt. 18:28
And every one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting. Mt. 19:29
¤ The kingdom of heaven is like to an householder, who went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. Mt. 20:1
Saying to them: Go ye into the village that is over against you: and immediately you shall find an ass tied and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to me. Mt. 21:2
Tell ye the daughter of Sion: Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek and sitting upon an ass and a colt, the foal of her that is used to the yoke. Mt. 21:5
Hear ye another parable. There was a man, an householder, who planted a vineyard and made a hedge round about it and dug in it a press and built a tower and let it out to husbandmen and went into a strange country. Mt. 21:33
They say to him: He will bring those evil men to an evil end and will let out his vineyard to other husbandmen that shall render him the fruit in due season. Mt. 21:41
The lord of that servant shall come in a day that he hopeth not and at an hour that he knoweth not: Mt. 24:50

He saith to him: Out of thy own mouth I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up what I laid not down and reaping that which I did not sow. Lk. 19:22
Saying: Go into the town which is over against you, at your entering into which you shall find the colt of an ass tied, on which no man ever hath sitten: loose him and bring him hither. Lk. 19:30
And when you shall see Jerusalem compassed about with an army, then know that the desolation thereof is at hand. Lk. 21:20
