- While he is yet speaking, there doth come a certain one from the chief of the synagogue's house, saying to him -- `Thy daughter hath died, harass not the Teacher;' Lk. 8:49
- saying -- `It behoveth the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and the third day to be raised.' Lk. 9:22
- And the chief of the synagogue answering -- much displeased that on the sabbath Jesus healed -- said to the multitude, `Six days there are in which it behoveth us to be working; in these, then, coming, be healed, and not on the sabbath-day.' Lk. 13:14
- and lo, a man, by name called Zaccheus, and he was a chief tax-gatherer, and he was rich, Lk. 19:2

- When, therefore, the chief priests and the officers did see him, they cried out, saying, `Crucify, crucify;' Pilate saith to them, `Take ye him -- ye, and crucify; for I find no fault in him;' Jn. 19:6

- He indeed, then, having taken him, brought him unto the chief captain, and saith, `The prisoner Paul, having called me near, asked me this young man to bring unto thee, having something to say to thee.' Acts 23:18

- The chief captain, then, indeed, let the young man go, having charged him to tell no one, `that these things thou didst shew unto me;' Acts 23:22
