12:17But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
15:13And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
15:14Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
15:15And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
15:16After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
15:17That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
15:18Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
15:19Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
15:20But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
15:21For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
15:22Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
15:23And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:
15:24Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
15:25It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
15:26Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15:27We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.
15:28For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
15:29That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
21:18And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
21:19And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
21:20And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
21:21And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
21:22What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
21:23Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
21:24Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
