17:1Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
17:2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
17:3Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
17:4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
17:5Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
17:6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
17:7Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
17:8Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
17:9From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
17:10They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
17:11They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
17:12Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
17:13Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:
17:14From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
17:15As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
35:1Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.
35:2Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
35:3Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
35:4Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.
35:5Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.
35:6Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.
35:7For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.
35:8Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.
35:9And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.
35:10All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?
35:11False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
35:12They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.
35:13But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.
35:14I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.
35:15But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:
35:16With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
35:17Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.
35:18I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.
35:19Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.
35:20For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
35:21Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.
35:22This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.
35:23Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.
35:24Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.
35:25Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
35:26Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.
35:27Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
35:28And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
52:1Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.
52:2Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
52:3Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
52:4Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
52:5God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
52:6The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
52:7Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
52:8But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
52:9I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
58:1Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
58:2Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.
58:3The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
58:4Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
58:5Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.
58:6Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.
58:7Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.
58:8As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.
58:9Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.
58:10The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
58:11So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
64:1Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
64:2Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:
64:3Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:
64:4That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
64:5They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?
64:6They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
64:7But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
64:8So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.
64:9And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
64:10The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
109:1Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;
109:2For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
109:3They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
109:4For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
109:5And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
109:6Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
109:7When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
109:8Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
109:9Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
109:10Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
109:11Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
109:12Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.
109:13Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
109:14Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
109:15Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
109:16Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
109:17As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
109:18As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
109:19Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.
109:20Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
109:21But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.
109:22For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
109:23I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.
109:24My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.
109:25I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.
109:26Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:
109:27That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.
109:28Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.
109:29Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.
109:30I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
109:31For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.
142:1I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.
142:2I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
142:3When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.
142:4I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
142:5I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
142:6Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
142:7Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
