THE HOLY BIBLE Authorized King James

Genesis (Author Moses)

28:18And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

28:19And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

28:20And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

28:21So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:

28:22And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

31:45And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

31:46And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap.

31:47And Laban called it Jegarsahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.

31:48And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;

31:49And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.

31:50If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.

31:51And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee;

31:52This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.

Joshua (Author Joshua (primarily))

4:2Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,

4:3And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.

4:4Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:

4:5And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:

4:6That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?

4:7Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.

4:8And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORD spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.

4:9And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.

4:20And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.

4:21And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?

4:22Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.

4:23For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:

4:24That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.

24:25So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

1 Samuel (Author Compiled by Isaiah from records of Samuel, David, Nathan, and Gad.)

7:12Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.
