THE HOLY BIBLE Authorized King James

Genesis (Author Moses)

32:9And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

32:10I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.

32:11Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

32:12And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

Exodus (Author Moses)

32:11And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

32:12Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

32:13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

33:13Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

Numbers (Author Moses)

14:13And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)

14:14And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

14:15Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,

14:16Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.

14:17And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

14:18The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

16:22And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?

Deuteronomy (Author Moses)

3:24O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?

3:25I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon.

9:18And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

9:25Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.

9:26I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

9:27Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:

9:28Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.

9:29Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm.

Joshua (Author Joshua (primarily))

7:8O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!

7:9For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

2 Samuel (Author Compiled by Isaiah from records of Samuel, David, Nathan, and Gad.)

7:25And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

7:26And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

7:27For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

7:28And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

7:29Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

1 Kings (Author Compiled by Isaiah and Jeremiah from records of Nathan, Gad, Iddo, Ahijah, Jehu and others.)

8:25Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.

8:26And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my father.

8:59And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:

8:60That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.

18:36And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

18:37Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

2 Kings (Author Compiled by Isaiah and Jeremiah from records of Nathan, Gad, Iddo, Ahijah, Jehu and others.)

19:15And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

19:16LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.

19:17Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,

19:18And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

19:19Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.

2 Chronicles (Author Compiled by Isaiah and Ezra from records of Nathan, Gad, Iddo, Ahijah, Jehu and others.)

14:11And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.

Nehemiah (Author Nehemiah or Ezra or both)

1:8Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:

1:9But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.

9:32Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.

Psalms (Author Moses, David, Solomon, Asaph, Heman, Ethan, sons of Korah, compiled by Ezra)

4:1Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

9:19Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.

9:20Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

25:6Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

27:9Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

31:3For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.

38:16For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

69:6Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.

69:13But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

69:16Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

71:18Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

74:10O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?

74:11Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it out of thy bosom.

74:18Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.

74:19O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever.

74:20Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.

74:21O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name.

74:22Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.

74:23Forget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually.

79:10Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

79:11Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

79:12And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

83:1Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

83:2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

83:18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

86:1Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy.

86:2Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.

86:3Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.

86:4Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

86:5For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

86:17Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me.

89:49Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, which thou swarest unto David in thy truth?

89:50Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people;

89:51Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.

106:47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

109:21But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.

109:22For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

109:23I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.

109:24My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.

109:25I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.

109:26Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:

109:27That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.

115:1Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.

115:2Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?

ALEPH.

119:38Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

119:42So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

119:43And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.

119:49Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

119:73Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

119:94I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.

119:116Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.

119:124Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.

119:145I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep thy statutes.

119:146I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies.

119:149Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O LORD, quicken me according to thy judgment.

119:153Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law.

119:173Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.

119:174I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.

119:175Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.

119:176I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

143:11Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.

143:12And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.

Isaiah (Author Isaiah)

37:15And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying,

37:16O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.

37:17Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.

37:18Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries,

37:19And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

37:20Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.

63:17O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

63:18The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

63:19We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.

Jeremiah (Author Jeremiah)

14:21Do not abhor us, for thy name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.

18:20Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.

18:21Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.

Lamentations (Author Jeremiah)

3:56Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

3:57Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.

3:58O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

3:59O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.

3:60Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.

3:61Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, and all their imaginations against me;

3:62The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.

3:63Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.

Joel (Author Joel)

2:17Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
