Don't be Distracted - March 24, 2013

Faith Assembly of God - morning service
God had just done a mighty miracle where He had told them to dig the trenches and he filled them with water and He kind of played a trick on the enemy and won a great battle. But at the end, the king of Moab - this is in 2 Kings 3:26, when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him he took with him 700 men who drew swords to break through to the king of Edom but they could not. Then he took his eldest son who would have reigned in his place and he offered him as a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel so they departed from him and returned to their own land.

One of the versions said that they were horrified and overwhelmed. So they gave up and went home. Well they were winning the battle. Then this king did something that was so atrocious - he sacrificed his son - and Israel was so overwhelmed and horrified by that - which they should have been - but they gave up and went home.

And it is like the Lord would say to us in this day, all you have to do is turn your computer on or read the paper and it is overwhelming. Like things that maybe we would have seen twice a year we see it every day three times a day - who got killed and who got maimed and all the horrid things that are going on and the Lord would say to us

Don't be distracted by that. The greatest one lives within you.

Like this does not rock God off His throne. Things look like they're chaotic and they're undone and could this ever work and God's going

I've got it. I've got it.

I was thinking of the example of Bill Johnson out in Redding, California. They have such a mighty move of healing for people with cancer there. And God has told them you declare that over your community that it is cancer free. Well then guess what happened. Bill Johnson's father came up with cancer - mighty man of God. He's a man they prayed with. He's in everything that was in them and guess what - his dad died. Well a prophetic word came to him and it sounded like a harsh word and the man said to him.

Don't be distracted.

The Lord would say

Don't be distracted. Continue with what you're doing. Continue to declare that you have a cancer free community.

Did it make sense? No. Was it the truth? Yes.

So it's just like I can feel God urging us like

Don't be distracted by those things in your lives that look like OK see - you're done. And God would say no.

A friend of mine said God is a wild card. No matter what is going on He is a wild card. No matter what the circumstances are... He comes in and it's like everything changes.
